Victornezzar:i just don't feel comfortable when Nigerians talk about Ghana cos it will surely lead to attacks on Ghana not necessarily by the one who even made the positive or harmless comment about Ghana buh onlookers who naturally have issues with Ghana and hate to hear the word Ghana and willing to do another Ghana Must Go when Ghanaians already left their country forcefully over 30 years ago. They begin their comments by "small or ordinary Ghana meaning an attack unprovoked is about to occur. What happened last year was really not an attack. You know the high tension between Ghana and Nigeria since independence of both nations. Ghana made a law in 1992 constitution barring any non Ghanaian whether ecowas citizen or not from engaging in any petty or retail business in Ghana unless that individual has a capital of 1 million dollars to legally register the business. The law was passed buh not implemented by our leaders for reasons best known to them. West Africans especially Nigerians drove in their millions to engage in all forms of petty retailing businesses across the country especially in Accra,Tema,Sekondi Takoradi and Kumasi. Our trade union always petitioned the government to apply the anti retail law by foreigners and these Ecowas citizens always countered referring to Ecowas free movement and trade policy overriding our national law. Then last year September or so Nigeria closed it's borders citing protection of it's economy. It was a blessing in disguise for the Ghana Trade Union because now they have a point to force Nigerian traders out of business in Ghana because Nigeria also overlooked Ecowas free movement policy by closing its borders. They intentionally forced Ghanaian government to warn Nigeria government to open the borders or they will retaliate knowing very well that Nigeria will not open the borders so that they will use that chance to close all Nigerian retailers shops in Ghana and force them out. And their plan worked. This time the government refused to come into the aid of Nigerian businesses cos they felt Nigerian government failed them by refusing to listen to their offer of opening the borders.Over 700 shops were locked down in a computer and phone wholesale and retail town alone in Accra. And Nigerians were crying xenophobia by Ghanaian traders and government refusal to step in . 8 Likes 1 Share |

nitrogen: Nice video, the narrator was unbiased and analyzed the issues well. However he still couldn't answer the contentious question as to who released Awo. Anyways, my opinion and summation on this whole issue is this; The whole problem started with zik and awolowo. These were 2 brilliant men who couldn't work together to achieve a common goal. Although, I blame azikiwe more for both pettiness, desperation and self aggrandizement. Zik studied in America in the 20's and saw first hand the brutal racism which all blacks suffered, in America they didn't care which tribe or country a black man came from, all were deemed inferior and treated as such. So when zik came back he was very determined to liberate Nigeria from the hands of the white man irrespective of tribe. In his determination and desperation to do so he had to make a lot of concessions to the north who were not ready to be independent because the current structure favoured them. He and Awo should have fought for just the South's independence. He was petty because for such a smart man, he should have found a way to work together with Awo to form the 1st government, instead his decision to team up with the north that always suspected the east is one bad move that continues to boomerang till this day. If both zik and awolowo worked together rather than suspect themselves, Nigeria would be a much better place. Moving away from that, The ifeajuna coup was a pure example of a good plan gone horribly wrong with devastating consequence. Don't forget that people actually clamoured for the military to intervene, chinua Achebe's there was a country and Obasanjos book states this. The generally accepted aim of the coup was to eliminate all corrupt politicians and senior military personnel and install Awolowo as the leader of Nigeria. However, while the operations in the north and south were successful, Ojukwu and ironsi successfully aborted the coup and mounted a defense eventually culminating in ironsi using the opportunity to assume power. Now for a moment, imagine a group of individuals eliminating buhari, tinubu, babangida, ty danjuma, atiku, wike, lai Mohammed and other cabal members and installing a better candidate like fashola or Peter Obi. People would rejoice. But the results of the failed coup which appeared skewed in favor of the igbos set us on a path of destruction which we seem to be unable to recover from. My hope is that eventually, Nigeria would become a true Federal Republic, one where all states are able to generate their own income and send their quota to the federal government and not what we have now where one region is providing for the whole country. The north is blessed with an abundance of natural resources just waiting to be mined. Their grounds are rich in iron ore used for steel, columbite, tin ore, lead deposits and large gold deposits. They also rear cattles which can provide provide enough dairy factories, leather factories and protein for the nation. The west has the most fertile soil and can feed the entire West Africa also having the most educated population. The east are the backbone of commerce and industries. If we all pulled together, nothing will stop us from becoming a great beacon for Africa but first we must be able to gather round, discuss our problems and chart a way forward. On this note I rest my case. 5 Likes 1 Share |

iamoyindamola:Anyone with 64 account is a suspect. Such can be easily use for fraud and money laundering. The max a corporate account can deposit and withdraw a day without charges is 3m. Anything above that will incure charges on the excess. For individual account its pegged at 500k and anything above that will also incur charges. Fraudsters or people are knowledgeable about this and there's a certain amount you will deposit in a bank or even withdraw that will raise suspicions too. |

Ibime: He’s trying to be smart by half. For starters we don’t share land border with Ghana. What we share with Ghana is maritime border and it wasn’t closed. He’s right though about the law banning non Ghanaians from operating petty or retail business outlet. |

larride: No he is right. Since Nigeria decided their local laws supercede Ecowas freedom of movement (whether from Benin, Cameroon, Chad or Niger), then Ghana can also feel empowered to supercede Ecowas freedom of movement laws with their own. They actually still maintain freedom of movement, you just can't trade freely without meeting their threshold. 3 Likes |

Ibime: The law has been there since 1992 and there has always been issue concerning that particular law which they usually look a way to settle them up. The land border was closed to exporting and importing of goods. People still cross over from those borders. They can also still import their stuff through the sea or by air. The land border was closed to checkmate smuggling and loss of import duties that would have been earned if those smuggled goods were imported legally. For example, While Nigeria wanted to focus on home grown rice production and attain rice sufficiency, Nigeria imposes 70% duties on rice importation. Benin republic responded by reducing their own custom duties from 35% to 7% while Cameron responded by reducing their own custom duties from paltry 10% to ZERO. This is clearly sabotage. Most of those riceprenuer just reroute their cargo to Benin republic, Togo and Cameron paying next to nothing on custom duties and then smuggle those rice into Nigeria through the porous border. Nigeria has even complained bitterly to all those countries we share land border with that they need to police their border efficiently while we focus on our side of the border also. Nigeria even complained to Ecowas also about how these countries are encouraging smuggling into our country, turning our country into a dumping ground and killing off local manufacturers and farmers. What did Ecowas do? Nothing. We don’t share land borders with Ghana. For Ghana to get to Nigeria through the land border, they will have to pass through 2 countries (Togo and Benin) before getting to our land border. They should look for another excuse to enforce their law. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

nitrogen: There is nothing like ghost or apparitions. The human brain is the most complex biological mechanism ever seen. Unfortunately because we humans haven't been able to fully decode and understand this complex mechanism, as usual we humans chalk it's unexplained phenomenons as "supernatural events". People take dreams as supernatural messages. What that O.P and other neighbors are claiming is most likely self induced delusion or hallucinations. Because of such strange untimely death, the shock and fear will most likely induce such hallucinations. I repeat, there is nothing like ghosts. It's just our brain doing it's thing. We always want to fear the unknown rather than find the logic behind such phenomenas. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Ghanaians were enforcing an existing law that restricts retail trading to only Ghanaians. It is a very simple matter but nigerian traders in Ghana didn’t want to obey the law, leading to closures of their shops. Victornezzar: 2 Likes |

Kopfschmerzens:Lool Ghana is a much saner place than Nigeria but Nigeria is where the money dey. If you're willing to take risks. Our anyhowness actually has it's advantages that's why the average Indian, Chinese man will spend 2 months here and bring all his relatives to come and enjoy the wealth Really depends on your personality and what the business you're well versed in is. But usually the best way to go is always essential services. Computer equipment, Agrotech and Food processing, basically anything food. Building materials, Gym equipment (you would be suprised) Health and wellness products (obviously have to do your due diligence here) Southwest is relatively secure but can't speak for the rest of the country 3 Likes |
