arent88:This exists not just in the North but also in the South West of Nigeria here, where you would see this Fulani Alfas use their almajiri to farm and even control their livestocks, at no cost, if you see the kind of food even given to them you wouldn't refrain from cursing their parents |

Just curious, do those who do phone business make profit? Because I know people don't change phones everyday, one person can use a phone for more than 2 years. |

I find that strange, perhaps the money is in the accessories. If I were consulted to do a business analysis for it, I would have given it a poor mark. Lots of people tend to only change their phones when their old phones are faulty, Typically, that is every 3 years. Of course there are people who buy when the latest phones are out but they are in the minority. Then there is the fact that there is a lot of competition. I do find it strange even though I believe you, I can't understand the reason why this is so. emmanuelewumi: 1 Like |

ojesymsym: Because you are a Treasury Bills Investor, what is the population of Nigerians who invest in Treasury Bills? I can tell you that a lot of Nigerians change their phones every year or less. The profit margin on the business is equally high 1 Like |

ojesymsym: You are right somehow. These are what I know about the business: 1. They make enough money from accessories. 2. People surprisingly change their phones more frequently than you think. Consumerism is still a thing here, forget that you are in the midst of frugal investors. 3 Likes |

unite4real: It ended in praise. So on Monday, June 1st, I put more pressure and was credited around 4pm. I suspect they wanted to close their May balances healthy, though they claimed they had issues verifying my signature. But I find that strange and unbelievable, because I used the same electronically signed PDF I had used in the past many times successfully. Tops, I get credited in 2 days. Whenever I want to redeem, I just edit the amount and date. Anyway, that's in the past now and I am porting over to United Capital. Stanbic's rates are ridiculously low anyway. Then it was another issue at the bank on Tuesday (the last day of SUKUK offer). That's a story for another day. All in all, I submitted before the offer closed and will see how the allotment goes next week. Thanks for checking. 1 Like |

Fellow investors, I just played around with some calculations and I was shocked by the simplicity and result. Assuming I am a civil servant and decide to commit to save 10k (ten thousand naira only) every month, at the end of the year I will have 120k (one twenty thousand naira) only. Assuming I decide to invest that money on a 10% investment per annum without stopping the 10k per month savings, that at the 35th year, around the time I am retiring I will be worth around 30 million? With that kind of money, what is your business whether government or pension funds paid your gratuity or not. Just 10k a month o, not 20k not 100k not 1 million, just 10k, it is just crazy. See attached sheet for details I find the values difficult to believe, can someone else also do the calculation and confirm I did not make a mistake. 18 Likes 4 Shares

Yes o. Some of them can be that wicked. Presently I have a married couple living in my house. They have been there for over 8 years. I wasn't the one who rented out the house to them. They had their own meter (not the prepaid). I inherited the house, and when I was renovating some other houses close to them, I noticed they were no longer using the meter, it seemed the power company disconnected them. When I tried to find out why they were no longer using it and how they got light to their house, the husband over the phone ( since he works at a different town according to him) claimed I had no right to ask about the meter because he bought and installed the meter himself. I don't know the truth cos my dad was already late. Now the question is even if I allow them to pack out with the meter, since they obviously owe so much. Will the power company have any hold on me in anyway ? Cos I can simply connect that house to the rest. I don't live in the same area with them. Pls anyone with an idea can help. Thanks Sholapey: |

Jeez, it's crazy, that means if a man decide to start paying 10k into an investment every month with a 10% per annum as soon as a child is born, he can hand over 20 million to the child on his 30th birthday. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

ojesymsym: It is true now. I have told many people this but they do not believe. Btw, i have a monthly standing order on my account for my two kids. The monthly transfer to their account has never failed because i ensure money leaves my account first at month end to theirs before anything. This has been on since the day they were born. One is 13+ now while the other is 11+. No need to mention the monthly amount but it is more than 10k monthly. 24 Likes 3 Shares |

This is a far better father than the ones who think organising birthday parties are more important than investing in the future of their kids. I hope the kid's money goes into a mutual fund that grows and not just a static account, that is when it will really have the power of compounding. I used 10k so that people don't assume that they must have big money before they start. When you think of 10k per month and then 120k per year, the first temptation will be to ask "how many years person go save jo" until you really punch the numbers. Maybe if it is presented in this way, more people will appreciate it, although I know that by the 6th year, many people will withdraw the money, that I am sure of. NL1960: 9 Likes |

yazga: Lemme chip in a bit... Let's assume your salary is 100k... And you loose your job and got a new one that pays you 70k or 80k... Are you trying to tell me you won't survive... What I'm saying is if you earn 100k and you really need to get this done... Just zero your mind and assume you earn 90k... Make all your plans on 90k... 22 Likes 1 Share |

ojesymsym: The money is presently in TB. The TB is done once in a year and it matures every August/September. Whenever it matures, i add what has been accumulated to the principal and do another TB. Last year's TB was done at about 13%. The upfront interest is what i normally use to pay their first term school fees in secondary boarding school. 15 Likes |

Crazeworld: No. The interest rate fluctuates. That is why when the money became reasonable, i moved it to TB. I still have the option of money market funds(MMF) but i did not do that. 3 Likes |
