Just tell your parent and see if you can sit for another jamb, with the knowledge you might have gained in 100L scoring high in jamb wouldn't be a big deal.

My dear i really share in your pains. What happened to u will be part of your success story in future if only u handle it well.

Medicine is a calling. If u are destined to be a doctor, God will give u the grace to fulfill that by starting all over again. Failure is part of success story.

Alternatively, u can change to another professional course that has prospect and ensure u put in your best.

Let your parents know your ordeal. You will be surprise they can assist u. Never think of suicide because of small obstacle in life. I bet you, if u manage your situation very well, you will be a great man in future.

QUITTERS NEVER WIN AND WINNERS NEVER QUIT.

I was once in your shoes but today i thank God that i did not quit. May God assist you to fulfill your destiny.

Be strong dear.

Are you sure that you are in medical school at all, because in medicine there is nothing like Gp in 100-600level. All they do in 100 level, is to take average in all your courses. Medicine is one of the simplest department you will love to be in. What they will do is to sum all the biology courses you wrote in 100 and take the average, as long as it is a above 45% u are good to go.

Pls take life as it comes, don't kill urself because you want to impress anyone. You have done ur best but it's so unfortunate it turned out this way. But you can also switch to any good course that's close to medicine. Rewrite jamb again while in school and see if you can get admission again to same school. I have a friend who did in university of ibadan dose days when we were in school. So don't cry over spilled milk but figure out a way forward. It's heartbreaking but there is nothing you can do about it except you lobby ur way thru.

Mr Man Medical rules the same world wide. Keep your lies to yourself.....so no resit in uniben?
In UNIBEN medical school, if you now Fail TWO, before it was ONE, you're out of Medicine... There's no Resit in 100L...The rules vary..A handful of schools accept two sitting into MBBS but UNIBEN accepts just One...The rules differ.

Not in your first year. That should be in your third year.

It's simplest department shey? but if you failed ONE, you were out...And between you can have G.P in 100L and it ends from there...
About taking average of 45% that's a pure lie...If you like have all As and just TWO F now you're out of Medical school.

Channel it through your parents’ Imam/Pastor, they are exceptionally good at breaking bad new.

Trust me. They’ll do it in such a away that your parents may love you even more for being withdrawn!!

sagna112:
My name is Uche a 100Level supposed medicine and surgery student of a Nigerian University, I used to be very brilliant and that was what instigated me to apply for Medicine and Surgery after acquiring an aggregate score of 270 in both JAMB and POST-UTME Examinations, I was then admitted a years ago into a university.

I am the only child of my parents, they have spent so much on me just to make sure I become a doctor, dad had to sell one of his plots of land to pay for my registration fees, purchase a brand new laptop, a phone and clothes for me and all my needs, Mum who has no job since she was sacked by the state government will always try to send the little that will pass through her, when I think of the way she announced to her friends when I gained admission to study Medicine it brings tears from my eyes.

It will be an injustice on me to be blamed or for me to blame myself, I know the effort I have also made, I have always taken my studies serious, I never missed any lecture, I neither miss assignments nor tests, I sit at the front of the class, I don't keep bad gangs, I have never attended a party, sometimes I do RTDB (Read Till Day Break), what is then my offense? why me?

At the end of my 100 level Second semester my CGP was reading 4.2 without a single carryover, I was very happy because I thought I had scaled through the danger zone.

The unexpected occurred when I logged into the school portal at the end of my Second Semester Examination to check my result, I cleared all the courses with A's and B's but a course was reading Carryover, I nearly fainted when I saw the result, it was a biology course I offered in second semester to me the course was the simplest of all. I did not inform my parents because I din not want to dishearten them.

The school resumed, so I went to my HOD and complained, she took me to the Exam office who searched thoroughly for my script and from what I saw it was obvious I failed, I scored 32% and was asked to change department, my HOD advised that I go to Biological Sciences, my eyes were filled with tears.

How do I tell my parents this, it only mean I have brought shame to them. I have remained in school since then crying from one angle to another I don't know whether to go home to my parents to inform them of the truth or keep telling them lies.

I need your sincere advice.

Can I ask which school is this??

He has no choice than to tell them...
He can try again by doing jamb and all, but it's difficult. He has to tell them first ...

I can't imagine this happening to someone I know
It's so disheartening and depressing ... People commit suicide for this.

But this is d best level to cross out of medicine and go to another department...

He should trust me,
It is 10times more serious than the biology he failed

Let me also share a similar but worse case than yours.
I got admission to study medicine in Unical in year 2000. I did my 100level by 200level ASUU went on very long national strike that lasted upto 3months or more.
When the strike was called off, the medical college immediately fixed the 2nd MBBS exams of my senior colleagues. They protested that they needed time to prepare for the exam since they hardly read at home during the strike. The college refused and that led to a serious altercation between the students and the medical college.
In order for the college to get back at the students they decided to rescreen everyone and the yardstick to pass the screening was for your name to be in the merit list, anything short of that you are out of Unical.
The truth is 80% of medicine & surgery students then came in via 2nd list and runs....I for myself paid about 35k then to work my admission into medical school.
I was screen out, all the exams I wrote in 200level I never saw the results. Some of my friends stayed back and wrote another JAMB. But I took the BOLD STEP to inform my Dad of the bad news, it was heartbreaking but we all got through it.
I didn't apply for medicine again, today I am a graduate of Economics and I will soon complete my masters.
After that incident I came to discover that I didn't have the calling to be a medical doctor because I can't stand the sight of blood or an open wound. God saved me from making that mistake.
My advice for you, go home bro. Pray and be bold enough to tell your parents, tell them the whole truth, don't hide anything. They would be the ones who would be comforting you.
Trust me nothing will happen to your father, give him hope, show him that you are ready to take the next step that your spirit and determination is still high.
Another advice, forget medicine, take up courses on ICT, computer software, programming, all that.
You can also go for Geophysics, it's a hotcake for oil companies that do drilling and exploration.
Pray about it and God will give you direction on what course to study but the clue is to follow your passion.
Spot on bro.
Some people will now come to tell you how they're now feed Medical Doctors in their house just because they couldn't graduate from Medical schools, how the non-existent doctors they know are begging them for money instead of advising the young lad to do check whether he has passion for it and can still pursue his dream.
Everyone can not be a Doctor and you can be fulfilled where ever you're but the way some people bring up "their usual story ended well narration" just to discourage is appalling.
Weldone!

I'm sorry to say that Idontbiliv the story as well constructed as it seems.

No medical school in Nigeria is that strict.
If I can remember you're not allowed to have more than two carryovers (not just one as pointed here), more over there is a place for resit exams

Don't tell your parent anything. Or you want to kill them too? Pretend as though you are still in school, collect money for books, get your school fee by yourself; use the money to drink and have all the fun you can, take drugs, just have fun. Never make the mistake of writing another Jamb or reapplying. Who studies biological science? You are far beyond that. In the next three years, go to wherever in Lagos and get a university MBBS certificate. Travel to the north, you will get a job. Pay your tithe. You will be forgiven for those that die in your care. It is their time_ right? The best Sir--+ and don't forget to hide or delete the diary where you said you are studying engineering. May you get the attention that you seek.

Write another jamb. Find a way to inform ur parents. Moreover ur result is very good, aside the biology. U can do it again, dont be discouraged. We all ve failed woefully at a point in our life, including ur parent.
Many were withdrawn. Infact some people must be withdrawn.
Jus bounce back if u want it

Sorry about your result but life goes on, I will advice to look at yourself and see what you love doing. Most time people end up doing course they are not ready for academically to pursue, Just inform them and tell them your plan for your future no need to deceive them cause nature will never forgive you. You can still continue with another course they offer you and that might not define your future. Ciao

Yes very difficult situation but you just have to manage the challenges you are facing now critically or else you will end up frustrated.

I have a friend who was withdraw from medical school at 300 level, not really easy for my friend. He was withdrawn and offered anatomy at 200 level but guess what he refused and went for another Jamb and later graduated studied accounting.

I later asked him why accounting,he said his parents forced him to read medicine, truly the guy is very brilliant.

My dear to cut the story short my said friend is now a millionaire cos the guy went to private business and with his intelligence he was able to make it.

Please don't feel offended this may open another way for you if you handle it with care.

Our school system is funny. Why withdraw someone for failing just a course. With good grades in other courses, is a pointer you are intelligent. Taking the course should have been the best option. Na wa for our school system.
Tell your parents without any delay anymore. They will, sure,be supportive.

We pass through medical school and the most difficult Medical school is OAU College where we did 320 questions in 80 in anatomy head and neck.

Baba you know nothing. In 100l you're not yet in medical school. An F in any course you'll be withdrawn also with having more than 2 D's in courses despite clearing all others you'll be withdrawn to other department... You only repeat from 200l upward not in 100l
