MaziAlaye:
When did Sango expand his empire to Benin?

Sango is the third Alaafin (Oba) of Oyo,his son Oranmiyan founded Benin kingdom. He introduced Yoruba's obaship system to the people of 'Ile Ibinu' the pronunciation of which was bastardized later by the Portuguese as Benin. The title of their king before the arrival of Oranmiyan was Ogiso.

This is why you will find all Yoruba deities like - Ifa, Sango,Ogun,Obatala,Osun,Oya,Esu etc in Benin. They are all being worshipped by Bini traditional worshipers.

There's obviously a difference between thunder bolt and lightning strikes.

Learn the difference.

The second thing here is, what are the odds that you'll ever get hit by lightning?

If there's a cloud or storm brewing in the area where you are, you would most likely be hit if you are the tallest thing around that area. So, if you are walking on a plain ground and there's a storm brewing, seek shelter immediately or lie flat on the ground so that you don't become an unwitting conductor of electricity.

If you run under a tree, that tree, if it's the tallest thing around might attract lightning, so you may not want to do that.

That's why tall buildings have that little device at the top that's called thunder catcher in layman's terms.

Also, when there's a thunderstorm brewing close to you and the the hairs on your body rise up, it means you're within seconds of being hit by a lightning.
