That's the problem... Only the president can't change the country. His effort has to be complemented by that of the lawmakers, ministers etc. It's likely going to take a while to get Nigeria working. 3 Likes |

Immediately after my swearing in, I will declare Nigeria a failed state so that United Nations can take over. Hopefully, they'll send Americans to come and recolonize us cos the British did a terrible job. This is the only solution to Nigeria's problem. Nigeria was built on a poor foundation, that's the reason why the country is not working. The country needs to be demolished and built again. All these people typing long grammar are just deceiving themselves. This country can't work even in a billion years. Recolonization is the solution, we can't rule ourselves. 2 Likes |

Honestly, I don't think a President can change Nigeria. For this country to change it has to be from the roots. Inec needs to start over. Have strict rules for the kind of people accepted to be politicians. We need leaders that are truly educated, leaders with portfolio and track record of actually making change before entering political office. If you're not willing to die for your country you can't be a leader, not even local government chairman. Money or no money, before entering politics in this country what have you done that REALLY says you care about the country's future. How many have you helped in whatever way you can. That and not being an illiterate is step one. Next: Punishments for corruption and illegally gotten wealth. I read death penalty on the first page, and first though was it's too extreme. But after further thinking. It really isn't. A lot of people will be killed, a lot will hide, but stop, especially coming generations will think long and hard before trying anything shady. Only escape from death should be if your turn yourself in. This country is too far gone. It might be needed. Definitely All assets must be seized and publicly auctioned to civil servants with no connection to the party it's being seized from. That can be checked with the going to waste database of driver's license, national ID, etc fingerprints. Our law enforcement agencies need to be screened seriously. They can't escape the corruption and education law. Secondary school education is too low a requirement for these times. Even with their force schools. That's for learning how to relate with humans and handle weapons around civilians and etc. Health care sector. Seriously, every state hospital or clinic needs to undergo monthly inspection of ALL staff and facilities. Governors should be held responsible for subpar facilities during their time. Political office isn't for you enjoy life, it's for you to be a slave to your nation and citizens. Make sure nothing is wrong with it. We need to be more serious with taxes and make sure they are tunnelled to the right places, or face justice. Employment. Seriously fine companies employing non Nigerians when there are other capable Nigerians that can do the job. Establish technical schools in at least 2 major States of each region, so those that aren't for the school life can still have some skills and education. No youth should be uneducated. No youth should skip school. It has to be a must. What's are the welfare organisations set up for? Either technical or regular. You can't be roaming the streets. This is why taxes MUST be seriously enforced. It goes without saying that should mean free education. Must not be for all. Go to your state of origin and get the free education. The same way hospitals must be inspected monthly, schools and teachers too. Heavily tax the rich. Communism will improve this country. Selfishness and true vanity just won't let people agree. Do we have a government body ensuring no citizen is unemployed? Theres no excuse if there are technical schools made available. Someone mentioned what to do about oil money. ALL THIS is what you do. It's our country's money, not one person or family. Heavily tax the oil well owners! I don't know how to make it owned by the country, and I wish I knew law. But with serious punishments for corruption, it will be safe in government's hand. But not this present government. A total overhaul is needed from LGA chairman to president. All those parties, etc. This country can't change in a generation or 2. But when we start voting leaders and appointing law makers that care about their great grandchildren's future, and not their current lifestyle, Nigeria will change. You see an average man making salary or has a private business, fixing and helping his community from his pocket, not waiting to have a political post before making change, that's someone worth voting for for anything. Not promise makers. The great leaders that will change this country won't be looking to enter politics, because our current politics is failed and soiled and ruined. All those are just the tip of the iceberg, and sadly I don't know what I personally can do to make such dreams come to pass and to make other Nigerians believe that's possible. But I do know the storm comes before the calm, and that's why the top 1% against all these scare everyone to believe wanting change will end your life. The thing is. 1000s of us need to be ready to die for that change. Am I? History won't make me, because it has shown it won't help. But then in our history tens of thousands haven't stood up to want change from corrupt government. If we all die. It will still make a mark and will still ignite future, stronger changes. The world will notice we want change, and gradually we will get it. But without that, the best thing as an individual is emigrate to a well established country and face the lesser challenges they throw at me, than all this. 9 Likes |

chatinent: My agenda will be security, economy diversification and power stability. 1. I will reform the police force. The requirements to enter into the force will be strict academically, their dress code, physical appearance and armoury will be appealing. They will be well paid and zero tolerance to bribery and corruption will be set in place. 2. With a standardized police force, the judiciary will be standardized in a way everyone will be held accountable for his/her wrong doings irrespective of your social status and political influence. 3. Improve power generation and distribution to aid reduce cost of production. Power will be subsidised for manufacturing firms. The subsidy will be paid using the company's audited financial statement on production and sales values because if this values are forged upwards, it will increase the amount of TAX payable by the firm which is a win for the government. 4. Diversify the economy by investing in agriculture and solid mineral mining. Will also increase the tax and vat payable for luxury items whose cost value is above #100 million. 5. Invest in rail and water ways transportation and mandate some forms of goods to be transported through these means only in other to curtail the volume of road accidents caused by tankers and trailers. 5 Likes |

MrBrownJay1: Mate, Nigerian roads aren't bad. Civil people drive according to road conditions when they get to a bad stretch of road. The accidents that happen on Nigerian roads happen mostly by selfish causes e.g overspeeding, one way driving, not fixing bad car break lights. Nigerians are a selfish and wicked people. |

chatinent:Transportation Introduce tolls on federal highways and ensure that money from tolls are used to trim the grasses on the median of the highways, maintain the roads and power the street lights so traveling at night can be a pleasure, also packages for the officers that'll be manning the expressways. Power All my resources and time will be expended on this because whether we like it or not, if we are to get loose from the shackles of poverty. Electricity must be stable. If it has to get to the extent of Power being removed from the exclusive list of the federal government so be it. Education Financial autonomy should be granted to universities and they should learn to fend for themselves. Federal grants will be awarded to ideas that can shape the country. Sports This is another untapped goldmine, it will be made more aggressive attractive and gradually weaned out of government ownership of sports outfit so it can be private driven. Trust me the chain of employment opportunities out of sport is a lot. Civil service A total revamping of the civil service with a look to make it more effective. The best brains should be here tho it'll be met with stiff resistance. Government entities shouldn't be headed with staffs of lackadaisical attitudes. That's why it takes ages to get the national identity card and why Nta is nothing to write home about To be continued.... 1 Like |
