Give them food, not money. Don't give them money because they are mischievous. If you offer them a job that they can do, they will run from it. If you put the kids in school, they will withdraw the kids from the school. If you give them an accommodation, they will run from it. As a matter of fact, many of them are rich. Some of them have tricycles and buses generating daily income for them through public transport business. Even in giving them food, know your limit. Most of them purposely give birth to babies or even higher babies just to make you pity them. Years ago, I knew a beggar who rejected free medical treatment of his open wounds. He openly admitted that the wounds make people to pity him and give him money. His able-bodied wife had no occupation. His kids were looking good and were not out of school. After many years, the wounds naturally healed but he shamelessly continued to beg. He is/was popular in Garrki market in Enugu State. I rather send the children of a beggar to school or buy food items for the beggar's family than give the beggar money, irrespective of how pityable the beggar appears. Some blind beggars are led (paraded) by youths who are able-bodied and old enough to hustle and feed those beggars. Why will an eighteen-year-old able-bodied person lead a blind person around to beg in a marketplace? While will a female beggar be giving birth almost every year? Why will an able-bodied woman above the age of 25 lead her blind husband up and down in a marketplace to beg for help? Can't she hustle to take care of her home? And why do they beg for decades? Can't they save money to start a good business? 418 Likes 25 Shares |

Begging doesn't mean you'll earn, I cant give you money just because you are a beggar. If you are able bodied then why cant you get a hustle? Its unfortunate that weve got more able bodied beggars than the handicapped. 30 Likes 1 Share |

Islam forbids begging as the main source of income! So i may give them food but will never encourage them in begging! Begging is permitted only when someone is stricken by poverty or calamity or where one is indebted when trying to reconcile two people! It was narrated that Qabeesah ibn Mukhaariq al-Hilaali said: I incurred a debt (in order to reconcile between two parties) and I came to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) to ask him (for help) with it. He said: “Stay with us until the zakah comes, and we will order that something be given to you.” Then he said: “O Qabeesah, asking for help is not permissible except in one of three cases: a man who has incurred a debt (in order to reconcile between two parties), for whom it is permissible to ask for help until he has paid it off, then he should refrain; a man who has been stricken by a calamity that has destroyed all his wealth, for whom it is permissible to ask for help until he gets enough to get by – or he gets enough to meet his basic needs; and a man who is stricken by poverty and three men of wisdom among his people acknowledge that So and so has been stricken by poverty, then it becomes permissible for him to ask for help until he gets enough to get by – or to meet his basic needs. Apart from these cases asking for help, O Qabeesah, is haram and the one who begs is consuming something haram.” Narrated by Ahmad, Muslim, an-Nasaa’i and Abu Dawood. I once saw beggars sorting/counting their beggings after they finished praying in the mosque! Even you wey dey work fit no make such cash per hour! In all, don't abuse them! If you have something to spare give! If you don't have just mind your business! And if you detect fraud report them! 13 Likes |

As long as they believe that it is the will of Allah for them to suffer then I cannot help them. My God is not wicked and evil to want and will what is bad for me. 6 Likes |
