Osimhen’s €60m price tag outrageous–Lawal

Ex-Eagles midfielder, Garba Lawal, has disagreed with French club Lille over the €60m price tag placed on Victor Osimhen ahead of a possible transfer in the summer.

Osimhen, one of the hottest transfer prospects, is almost certain that he won’t stay at Lille following his impressive performance in the French Ligue 1 last season.

Despite Les Dogues dropping their asking price for the Nigeria international from an initial €90m to €60m, Lawal believes that the talented forward is overpriced.

“Lille are asking for €60m because they saw the calibre of clubs asking to sign Osimhen,” Lawal told The PUNCH.

“They wouldn’t have asked for such amount if it was an average team that was willing to sign him because there is no way they could afford it.

“Take for instance, if it was Aston Villa that was looking for him, would they have placed the €60m price tag on him?

“Lille are very smart, they saw that big clubs in Europe are the ones looking to sign Osimhen and they believe that they can make money from the deal. They see it as their chance to cash in on him, considering the amount they signed him from Charleroi.

“For a player that they signed for €12m and he spent just a season and they are asking for €60m, I think it’s crazy.

“I think a fee within the region of €30m would be nice and allow the young man to move on with his career. We want to see him make that big move, which is good for him as a player.”

so on point...dts too much for this lad no matter how good is he...he isnt proven i europe top leagues and too much pressure would be on him if any big gun even cough up such amount for him....we all kno dt lille jus want to cash out with him and leave him with the big cash pressure in his new club...Chelsea got timo werner from lipzig dts ahead of lille for jus 50m and u telling me oshinhem dt his lille is not in ucl and didnt qualify next season is 60m....dts d same thing they did with pepe and i jus pity the young lad because its not easy to play with so much pressure of hug money spent on u...he can ask coutinho, dembele, bale, neyma, sanchez etc...d media would always criticize u even if he ends up scoring hat trick in each match wich is nt possible.

naaa...dts not good...if the price is too much, he would face more pressure and scrutiny even before he settles for example the previous ivorian guy dt moved from lille to arsenal( cnt remeber dt his name sef)

Even chukwueze is on €500 a week salary and he's contract ends in 2023 yet they slammed a €65 mill price tag on him..

The guy has a point... to avert the repeat stories of major big money flops like Neymar, Dembele, Pogba and Sanchez that touches the soul, from Osimehn's life and career. The guy doesn't need such pressures at this stage in his career.

This one time when I was still young I was watching this particular Afcon match fielding Garba lawal at a time that he has far past his prime obviously and was surrounded with budding super eagle players. Out of sheer respect they added "MR" to his name whenever it was displayed on screen grin

A lot of people that read this wouldn't understand Garba Lawal is trying to protect Osiehemen interest.

If they put high price, good clubs may refuse to buy the guy. He continue to play a useless club.
