GabrielYulaw: Tom Clancy, the war writer.. Mario Puzo: The Mafioso writer... I love his Don Corleon saga! Harrold Robbin to me is the male version of Jackie Colin.. rauchy stories and unapologetically foul mouthed.. Purely for adults especially jackie Colins 1 Like |

ajebuter: Not true. Jackie inserts a lot of comic relief in her books, like someone leaving a pile of fresh shit on another person's desk in Hollywood Wives. Harold Robbins doesn't do that. In my opinion, he's far superior to Jackie. It's like comparing Naomi Campbell to Tiwa Savage. |

mdpeace: .A Thousand Splendid Suns. That book made me so mad. Bleep the patriarchy and Bleep the opression of women everywhere. And Bleep the Taliban too. Ishmael Bea introduced me to Naughty By Nature and OPP. Better say OPP with pride or else As for Dan Brown, there's none better than him at what he does. That's the highest possible accolade. |

Roald Dahl. I'd bet my weekend if anyone can tell any of his books and literary style off the bat of his/her head. |

GabrielYulaw: I meant, Harold Robbin's language and diction flow so greatly.. ( that's what I believe they have in common) Unlike Jackie Colin who is so foul-mouthed with ecletic multiple characters ( 0ne madder than the next) In fact , most of Jackie colin novels should be rated 18.. Damn! She's so graphic and paints the craziest picture in one's head.. I also like how she creates a character and builds on him or her through about 5 novels.. Like the Lucky/, Dino Santagelo, Lennie Golden,, Stanislopous, SAntino Bonatti, etc.. She developed those fictious chracters all through 5 novels and at a point i almost believed Lucky santagelo is real.. Actually, an American writer-friend told me Lucky Santagelo is actually the real life of Jackie Colin. |

ajebuter: You don't think Harold Robbins is foul mouthed and sex-crazed ? Then I guess a much deeper read of his books are called for. His sex scenes are the best I've ever come across and the boner they give you is strong enough to support the weight of the world. Harold Robbins also writes books in series. Check out the Jonas Cord character and you will find multiple books relating to him. It's been a very long time since I read a book by Harold Robbins. Like 15-20 years or so. I've downloaded new ebooks of his and will read up soon as I can. |

Tough one, really. There're quite so many great writers with different styles and approach to writing & storytelling. For me, in the indigenous aspect of things, I'll go for Achebe and Chimamanda . OMG they're glorious writers! Chimamanda Adichie could literally blow your mind with her ingenious ability to describe. She's a genius at describing even the faintest detail! Foreign writers? John Grisham & Stieg Larsson. Like me, if you love legal/court dramas laced with thrills, Grisham's got you covered! Dude is gorgeous entertainer! Honorable mentions: * Dan Brown (Grandmaster of mystery) * James Hardly chase (the grandpa of thrillers) * Anthony Doer ( Tells powerful stories.. "All the Lights we Cannot See" will get tears rolling freely down your red cheeks without your knowing it!) * Gillian Flynn * Markus Zusak (History master "The Book Thief" was artfully written!) * Jeffery Acher (A gifted humorist.. He could get you giggling all alone with his brilliantly written books) |

ajebuter: Lol. Puzo doesn't always write mafia stuff. Read Fools Die and perish It's my favorite book in the world. I would marry it if I could. Tom Clancy doesn't always write war books. He's into war AND thrillers. The two doesn't always combine. Comparing Harold Robbins to Jackie is like an indirect insult. Both are excellent, but Robbins is in my opinion much superior. |
