mimilyrics: Basically, I was pointing out that your assertion is incorrect. Domiciliary accounts still function as they always have (I've been operating one since 2004), with the only change being that restrictions have been placed on transferring abroad money not originally received from there. |

Okay. As I said earlier, that was/is based on the information gotten from my bank when I checked sometime last month so if the Feb 2020 CBN rules have been changed, it sure is good news. I was able to withdraw transferred £ and $ without restrictions in the past though. Cyberknight: |

Well, maybe he can't withdraw GBP but I have withdrawn USD from my domiciliary accounts with GT Bank and taken to aboki a couple of times. I also have a GBP a/c, but I've never used it. [ author=LaaJiblik post=91173400] No he can’t.[/quote] |

LaaJiblik: We saw this at the time. The first half of what it says is not in effect. Nigerians are still able to withdraw in cash foreign currencies transferred from abroad. So if the part of this policy concerning cash withdrawals of wired funds was ever implemented, it must have been reversed because it is not in effect NOW. I know this for a fact because I have made recent withdrawals from my dom accounts this month, one last week and one around the beginning of the month. The second half of the policy (the part banning withdrawal in cash of monies deposited in cash) may or may not be in effect, but I have no knowledge of that since I have not attempted to wire funds abroad from a cash deposit into a domiciliary account. Earlier this year, the CBN got involved in some muddled policy-making when they apparently came up with this policy. I've no idea whether it was ever implemented anywhere (I strongly doubt that), but I also made a withdrawal in March just before lockdown with no trouble at all. |

Cyberknight: You mean, someone from abroad wired ££ or €€ or $$ into your dorm account. You walked inside a bank branch. Filled form(s), and got given wads of ££/€€/$$. Then you walked to Aboki under the tree (like in Abuja Wuse Zone 4) and exchanged that for Naira, at Black market rates. Really? |

LaaJiblik: Dear all, Before someone will come and accuse me of derailing this thread. If it appears as though I am ‘over-flogging’ this issue, I’m sorry. It’s just that with the experiences of Cyberknight, PtBlank and iloveutd it means prospective students can as well immediately open Dorm accounts one Nigeria, tell their siblings too to open dorm accounts, even before travelling to the UK. In this case, Ace, Azimo, Ohentpay, SmallWorld, Westernunion, Moneygram, and all those transfer services will not ‘smell’ our money. Justwise, you suggested ACE to someone yesterday, with the experience of others on this thread, you probably need to tell your kith/kin to open a Dorm account and you can be wiring the money to them, while they withdraw £££ and change at black market rates. ...to think that during my stay in the UK, I was using Azimo to send money to my mother at hair rates when all I needed to do was to send to her dorm account , which she has held since 2010. |

https://www.nairaland.com/5957381/covid-19-no-entry-nigerians-americans This is most likely going to affect students resuming school in any European country this September |

Kingp91: Most UK schools have like 2 to 3 years plans already. Some schools have 2021/2022 session on their websites and schools fees approved. So if you go to their websites and check for next year session. You will notice that the school fees is higher than this year. And me I don't want any surprise especially schools that have not posted their next year school fees on their website.I would rather go in September. Definitely some schools will increase their fees, some will increase it slightly while some will leave it. It depends on their school policy. 2 Likes |

Everything is just tiring with all these uncertainties. Unfortunately, every single move one makes in this migration process comes at a cost. How does one proceed to invest in these process with so much uncertainties now Yet, time keeps ticking Simran94: |

Even if this is true which I strongly doubt because its not available anywhere on any news site except this showing that it's a fake news, the UK has left the EU in January 2020, so this does not apply to UK. Stop spreading fake and unverified news that will cause panic please Simran94: 1 Like |

Doyinh: The News is actually true but UK is not affected as they've left EU. It's only applicable to other European Countries that requires Schenghen Visa. The hatred these people have for Nigeria is alarming. What would have happened if Corona started in any African Country? China made the list |

Sigh Coventry haven'tput anything on their site..so even if i am deferring from this year i will still pay the new rate? Aprokodaughter: |
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Nobody: 9:59am On Jun 29, 2020 |
Kingp91: I can't speak for Coventry on their new rate since I am not working with them. I am just a prospective student (not Coventry) and I am for September intake. If Conventry has not updated their website for next year session then you will have to wait or you can email the school to discuss their January/September fees for next year. |

Kingp91: I think you can email your school for confirmation, from the unis patterns I’ve observed , some school increases their fees in the next year of study while others let you know that your fee will remain the same throughout. |

Hi guys. I’ve been hearing it’s somewhat difficult to become a permanent resident in UK after study. And that even with the new 2 years PGWP introduced, students will be forced to leave the UK to their home country after the 2 years expires as it’s hard to see a company that’ll sponsor you to extend your work permit. I really just want to know how true this is. Your replies will be immensely appreciated. Thank you. |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by LaaJiblik: 10:33am On Jun 29, 2020 |
Yads97: It’s difficult, but not impossible. The question is: What do you know, have and experience that places you above all other people ‘competing’ for that position or job you are eyeing? What sets you apart? Remember, in addition to yourself, there are hundreds, nay Thousands that are having the same ‘dream’ like you. You should identify where you can add value to the UK, and not where the UK can be a source of ‘NAPEP’ to you. 3 Likes |

Yads97: What they have said is that your year(s) of study and the 2 years PGWP doesn't count towards residency. You might go ahead and secure a Tier 2 visa. But your years of residency actually starts counting from the first year of your Tier 2 visa. AND NO ONE IS GOING TO FORCE YOU OUT. 3 Likes |

Yads97: I don't think anybody has any idea about how the 2years psw will go since we are the first set of students that are going to experience it first hand. But my advice is downloaded the list of companies that are tier 2 licensed by the Government. Make up your mind on the companies you wish to work for. Go to their websites or social media pages and see what skills they are looking for and how you can help them. Or You can go through the tier 1 visa which is the startup visa or entrepreneurship visa. Your school can put you through on how to register and startup a business. You make sure you learn some skills that can help you get your dream job. Finally, it depends on your postgraduate course too. I forgot to mention job skil shortages. There are some jobs that need more hands they are under the tier 2. I don't really know much about it. You will have to read it on the UK Government website. Hope this helps. 3 Likes |
