BabaOwen: I fully support the House on the bolded. I'm so sure if he had praised and worshipped the Dubai landlord, he and his wife won't be in this situation. The Senate & House of Representatives defense committee should work together on this. They should invite the Lance corporal to hear first hand information from him about the fight against boko haram in the North east. 5 Likes |

BabaOwen: RE- IT IS NOT OUR DUTY TO UNRAVEL BOKO HARAM SPONSORS 1. The attention of the Defence Headquarters has been drawn to a publication in some quarters with the above caption attributing it to a statement made by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations. For the records, the Coordinator only explained that unraveling sponsors of Boko Haram, Bandits and other criminal groups is the collective responsibility of the Intelligence fusion center, where both the Defence Intelligence Agency, Department of State Service and National Intelligence Agency work in harmony, while kinetics of operations is handled by relevant components of the Military. It is also on record that these agencies and the Armed Forces of Nigeria work together in all the Theaters of operations in the country. Recall also that recently, the Chief of Defence Staff even had National security meeting engagements with the various Heads of these security agencies and the Service Chiefs with a view to re-strategising the ongoing war against criminal elements. The Coordinator was quoted out of context by some media sources. 2. The publication is misleading and should therefore be disregarded. It is kindly advised that Journalists put in due diligence, to package stories in the right context before rushing to publish. We will remain accessible to the media for corroboration as well as verification of relevant news items. Thank you for your usual support and cooperation. Many of us here have noted the disparities between the numbers of terrorists killed and number of weapons recovered, well I recently read a comment from a COIN expert (David Otto Endely) that the idea of the super camps have greatly limited their access to arms and ammunition. We all remember how they used to overrun FOBs with superior numbers and firepower and leave with large caches of weapons. There are rarely small formations of troops for them to overrun and collect weapons from so they've resorted into giving one riffle to about 5 terrorists to share, when one dies, another picks the riffle up and so on. I don't know how true this is though but I believe by now most of us would have noticed the pattern and frequency of attacks recently, they are very desperate for supplies. Yesterday they attempted to attack an IDP that was just supplied with relief materials so as to cart away the relief materials for their own good. About a month ago we all saw a destroyed BHT guntruck with bowls of foods and resources they had just stolen from a community in it (the guntruck that was struck with precision by a rocket/cannon we talked about it at that time here) We all know they recently asked for ransoms of £500000 to release three aid workers who they would have ordinarily slaughtered and posted online for psychological warfare. A lot of things are changing in this war. 12 Likes |

FIGHT AGAINST INSURGENCY: OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY RECEIVES BOOST AS NAF TAKES DELIVERY OF NEWLY REACTIVATED ATR-42 AIRCRAFT FOR ISR In furtherance of its sustained efforts at ensuring availability of more serviceable Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms for prosecution of the war against insurgency and other forms of criminality in the Country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 3 July 2020, took delivery of another reactivated aircraft, an ATR-42 (NAF 930). The aircraft was received at the flight line of 307 Executive Airlift Group, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Oladayo Amao, on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who is currently in the Northeast to oversee the ongoing subsidiary Operation LONG REACH II. The reactivation of the aircraft, which was successfully executed at the Rheinland Air Services (RAS) Facilities, Monchengladbach, Germany after clocking 5,000 hours of operation, was earlier scheduled to be completed within 6 months. However, due to the effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the completion date was extended by 3 months. It would be recalled that, over the last 5 years, the NAF, in collaboration with its technical partners, has successfully reactivated some of its platforms in-country, including the conduct of Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) on 2 C-130H aircraft as well as the PDM/Avionics upgrade of 3 Alpha Jets. However, being the first PDM on the ATR-42 aircraft (NAF 930) after 10 years of operation, it was considered expedient to conduct this major maintenance activity abroad to take advantage of the facilities and expertise of RAS as well as build the capacity of the NAF Engineers and Technicians that participated in the reactivation process in Germany. Other dignitaries present to receive the newly reactivated aircraft were the Director of Operations, AVM Ayoola Jolasinmi, Director of Air Engineering, AVM Isah Muhammad, and the Commander 307 EAG, Air Commodore Francis Edosa. Tobiloba2407: That is not a good example, however, it is of blatant shameless corruption in the NA. You can procure from a number of former Eastern block countries upgraded T-72 MBT that will compete almost on all fronts with the Chinese new MBT the NA have just procured but at 1/10 of the cost or lower. So with $75 million you will have 150 almost new T-72's for all intents and purposes. See vids below self explanatory about the capacity and capability of a upgraded modernised T-72. Not a rust bucket painted green and passed off as refurbished and modernised. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gK2h3RCh28 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyJKwHivOQY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skg1rRxNntQ 6 Likes |

I rmbr nemesis8u mentioned this and for this reason advocated for a twin turbo like an OV 10 or Argie Pucara with a heavy twin barrel under the fuselage of 23mm or even 30mm providing on recoil mitigation could HANDLE it. It was to be 360 degree capable and 180 degree capable on vertical axis to be handled by copilot via camera. 4 Likes |

COUNTER-INSURGENCY: CAS PLAYS HOST TO SENATOR FOR BORNO SOUTH AT AIR TASK FORCE HEADQUARTERS IN MAIDUGURI The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, today, 3 July 2020, played host to the Senator representing Borno South, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, at the Headquarters, Air Task Force (HQ ATF), Operation LAFIYA DOLE in Maiduguri.
