invest or abandon...

Philip Odozua is the former MD of UBA before he retired recently. Nova is new and difficult to vouch for them except for the person of Philip.

I guess these guys have been eyeing the oversubscription of government securities at an abysmal rate and are ready to mop it up.

Please what's the meaning of unsecured bonds and investment in long term risk assets

How come Zenith has not offered me a loan na. Maybe the salary entering the account every month is too small cheesy or because I almost never leave the money there.

The banks use several parameters to determine what you are qualified for. So if your salary is always 'vanishing 30 minutes' after it is paid, the amount you are qualified for will likely be too small to waste time sending you an sms or email. grin

It means they can pay you back before maturity, unlike FG bonds that will run till maturity.

That means if the current bond is to run for 10 years at 12%, if interest rates should come down to 6% they can hurriedly pay up the old Investors and offer another bond which they will pay Investors the current rate of 6%.

Unlike FG bonds of 30 years at 16.5% offered about 3 years ago, FG will continue to pay for till maturity.

I missed the FG bonds at 16.5%, I was busy buying 364 days Treasury Bills

But will you be naive enough to share with your civil servant friend your race to hit 1 billion naira as you freely share and remind us here or the multimillion bond you are planning to buy? Close your eyes as if you are dead, then imagine how many people will shed real tears. If only people leave a EAR behind after saying goodbye to a friend or family then you will realise who is who to you. Bro love everyone but trust no one, kapish !

That's interesting

I think the mentality that is pervasive in Nigeria is insidious and fundamentally destructive
I think that's the problem

That's why we have these many many issues of envy and all that stuff that has been discussed in the last two or so pages

As much as one wants to be liberal

Let's not forget that we are in NIGERIA/AFRICA.

The mentality issues are a real thing and a real problem

Not sure it has ever stayed up to 30 minutes in that account. cheesy I like to think that my ATM/account one way or the other could be compromised so once the money enters, I move 70-80% to mf and survive with the remaining till the month ends.

That way, if anything happens to whatever is left, I won't lose nuch sleep over it. cool

Funny thing is that someone whose salary "vanishes in 30 minutes" needs the loan more than someone who hardly touch his salary.

It is supposed to be based on how much salary received and how long that salary level has been coming in because after all the monthly deductions are automatic, they take their own first.

Very reasonable, why keep it when you can make some returns on it in the mean time. I dump mine in stocks. I am building my stock portfolio.

N10 million invested would have earned a total coupon of N48.6 million if held till maturity

Hello Investors,

Please what's the best platform to save for just 4 months with good return? It's more like a target savings. Can I invest in mutual funds etc. And withdraw 99% of after 4 months? I need a secured investment

It doesn't sound in this case to be a serious one. I think the older guy is using Ahib as a form of motivator. As a younger version of who he could have been.
It does not sound like a destructive form of envy but as a reality check and personal regret of his choices in life. That is how I read this particular case.

Not that he didn't want me to make money but it must be with him or not above him ...example i was recently contracted to move 10 containers of recycle plastics from abuja to istanbul (Turkey) so i give they job to friend that normally exports to Australia....my friend was angry ..that i have directed the job to him then him to the 3 guy that will do the job ....that all monies should be paid to his company....he has only tankers oooh..... a friend that run a bdc recently had some Indian cleints and made some money and bought a house in abuja and rented out ...so i was happy i inform my elder friend cos he also his mutaul friend ....next statement was he i should tell him to link me up with his cleints or i should suspend the friendship....i was speceless...he even called to ask if i asked the guy ...

Funny thing is that someone whose salary "vanishes in 30 minutes" needs the loan more than someone who hardly touch his salary.

It is supposed to be based on how much salary received and how long that salary level has been coming in because after all the monthly deductions are automatic, they take their own first.

It is not an emotional thing of who needs the loan the most. It is a business decision and there is no emotions in business.

The vanishing might be that it is moved out to other accounts in other banks. Do not forget that the bank knows where every transfer made goes to. So why should a bank send you an sms or email when they do not even have an amount to work with?.

Look at this example:

Balance at start of day: N1,000.00

Salary Inflow: N100,000.00

Outflow: N100,000.00

Balance at close of day: N1,000.00

Net change: Balance at close of day - Balance at start of day = N1,000.00 - N1,000.00 = 0

Loan amount to be given: = Net change * parameter1 * parameter2 * parameterN = 0 *parameter1 * parameter2 * parameterN = N0.

So you want the bank to send an sms alert or email to the customer that he/she is due for a loan of N0?.

Some people are like that, they give when you're below them but surprisingly become your hidden enemy when you're doing better than them. You can't change their mindset because of the spirit of limitation in them. Adjust, don't say or show them what they hate to see or hear.
