For six years i was basically on the streets and built a house. I was doing better on the streets that's why I rejected job, the difference is I wasn't competing with anybody, I was refrenced as a chemical engr in the village. Even though I did most of civil jobs but an engr in the village is an engineer. Basically you get involved in committees to solve problem without even asking. Yes am from Akwa ibom but I never worked on slot and to clear you, it's a yoruba man I took care of his site that got me the job. I knew it will come, I just needed time. In my village, we have a beach we remove sand, I had 3 canoe and that's daily bread. I had okada and it was daily bread. I was a community leader of sort therefore had ease to do all my business without hindrance and levies. Palm fruits is a good mine though I didn't go there. The park in my town makes millions daily and it never gets to govt because it's salary for committees members and some council staffs. So many money making venture and you want omonile to insult me in Lagos, am not coming.
this one is not the ideal Nigeria village but a town....any park that generate millions is a town .....some people are from Lagos island ....they dont travel out cos busy and selling oppurntiies full their front yard

So many still squander the proceeds, I know a park chairman that was making over 300k daily, he had hotels booked both on my town and state capital, he lived his life to the fullest, when power change hands in 2019, I was shocked that he became broke just after few months. He owns one car, no house but plenty olosho that have traced their square roots now. Have a plan and work it out. I wrote waec in 2012 because I wanted to go for law as.my line of duty looks dirty sometime and I knew a law backing to allow me talk in court will be an added advantage I'm a business world. As I type, I have my credits in commerce, crk, litt, govt and all other arts subject. Will still go for it after this job for the fund of it. The house I built was for rent and not my residential as my dad had houses. Just needed this to sponsor myself when am gone for further studies. As a young man, never remain if future is not certain, do the analysis and decide if Lagos is better than your village. Also know you have limited years to do the trials. But move, If you can't change things or very scared of imaginary witchcraft, reason why so many run as if Lagos lacks witch. Be strong and hustle it out money don't come with ease.

Bros the 46m they box ur head lol ok here is the calculation
Using compound interest formal : P(1+r)^n
Where P= principal(10m), r= rate(0.165), n = numbers of years (10yes)
10,000,000(1+0.165)^10
10,000,000(1.165)^10
10,000,000* 4.6053
= 46,053,140.73

Basic maths, now worth more than basic.

Lagos has the highest concentration of rich folks, what they will not tell you is that it also has the highest concentration of very very poor folks who do not fair better than their counterpart they left in the village except for the bagging rights of living in Lagos and seeing flyovers, bridges and high rising buildings.
It does have an ambient that many other states do not have.

Nothing like market forces in that one. They just changed their mind from giving shareholders enough from their earnings...

Not to discredit them anyway, but please stop adding that cliché of keeping to words. Some of us know it doesn't go with fidelity bank.

I understand you and Sir “Barrytone” very well.

People are missing the major point which he is making. And it’s funny because we are in an investment forum, the same forum that preaches what sir Barrytone is saying.

Going to Lagos and the cities seems like the logical thing to do, but is it? He just basically explained the principles involving more opportunities based on him being a champion there. People are still not getting it.

Many don’t know this, but there are many foreigners mining gold and other stuffs in our villages making a killing why “we” run to Lagos and overseas. It is sad.

Pa Emma, and sir Ukay and the rest of the investment gang I am very sure won’t buy a stock everyone is talking about and keeps rising everyday beyond it’s intrinsic value. They will want to buy more stocks in “bonanza” period, a time when people are scared and running away from the stock market.

Many want to move from Villages to Lagos and many from Lagos to overseas/Canada. I am beginning to think the bonanza might be in the villages, many just don’t know it yet.

Good points. Another thing to note is that it is not everyone that is chasing for money. Many other people are contented with the little they have in life and live a fuller light.

I know there are many people living in Lagos just getting by and not even able to afford food, some of such people are afraid to return back to base as the prodigal son did so as not to be mocked in the village, so they remain in the city hoping that one day their story changes.

i ve met more people who grew from scratch to grace than from, grace to grace. i have friends, acquinances, clients, who started from kobo kobo and now worth hundreds of million, some even billionaires. some of them neva handle govt, contracts or made easy money tru, oil, and gas shortchanging. dont be deceived people re making it quietly and consistently which,is d objective,of this thread, keep investing and keep growing. i know some bizmen who neva import any item from abroad but they make more money dan d importers, they invest those money in,property and shares etc. a bag of beans is now 30k in d east, sometin dt sold for 15k in feb. there re people who, stored,it and will reap d increase. u can do small biz and make it, everyone wont be hanging around govt offices seeking for money to,embezzle tru schemes. food seller in,my village has four storey building in onitsha and labded properties. d woman who sells bushmeat in umunze village makes more daily profit than many in alaba. same d woman who, sells snail meat in Neni and ogidi villages. d wine tappers in udi enugu state smile to d banks on daily basis bc we book their palm wine we use for cereminies in nearby states from them. there is an igboman selling pork meat in yola a,muslim dominated area says his pork meat gets sold while still on fire. d ozubulu man i once met on a luxury bus dt sells slippers in jada lga of adamawa has more investments dan a highky paid federal worker. nigeria is big and wit high population dt makes it biz friendly , forget recession and devaluation people re still making money. a couple who sells abacha/tapioca/ in awka are, richer than my uncle who has lived in austria for more than 20yrs. my cousin who graduated wit a degree in engineering and came to onitsha and wss stayin around shops of his then classmates, bought a corolla worth 2.5m and told me if not for covid19lockdown,he would have bougght a,land this year in 33axis and will start building four flats by next year. he came into d market wit 40k two years ago.i asked him why not take big money from his bro who is a banker and increase d biz, he told me dt d strategy he uses does not involve big money ,dt his smaller money can actually allow him to grow. the problem,is dt many people in d villages are even lazy. a painter of garri is 800naira in onitsha now. why cant d villagers farm cassava and, process into garri. even if u produce garri,in my village it wont be enough for d villagers before even taking to d newrby cities. a poor man from awka etiti in idemili lga anambra once sold his land and bought engines for palm oil processing, today he buys land from anyone willing to sell his, he is based in d village. last year i advised a guy who whose life was tumbling in lagos to,come home, now he has started breathing fresh air small small
.when i go to village and on sundays during mass, they mormally do,project sunday, people normally donate money, if u see d type of money they re calling i begin to wonder if the village in not meant for d poor folks, later asked d priest if the parishioners do pay d pledges he said they do

so lets also share success of people who started small and not only people who had opportunites to be in govt appointment and got hold,of,public fund and buying millions,of shares in big companies. u can make,it froma anywhere jus be smart and discover what works there

Today, no regrets that I got exemption and rarely look at it as am never looking for a new job, am on my first and only job, when it ends I go home

The bottom line of the whole discussion is that success can come in different direction, everybody must not take the same part to success. An individual should just identify his/her part and stick to it. What brings a ahiboilandgas success might not be the same for a barrytone, that's one of the irony of life. One size doesn't fit all.

If you are not sure of the future don't leave your comfort zone. Stop gambling with your future, there is gold everywhere, so many federal law makers never left their village. As a grassrooter, you are reference by the returnees and you choose what you take. I rejected so many offers until the right one came. I contested councilor like you said but they said I should wait for something bigger though it's not that party caucus that sort me out but it was related to village activity: someone [b]I protected his project not knowing he is a Lagos big boy in a multinational, he was shocked that I was a chemical engineering graduate and got me two different jobs and advise I take my present job[\b] as it will unlike the other that pays in dollar but on contract basis. It all happened in the village.

Hi Engr Barrytone, Good morning.
Please sir, I am a fellow Chemical "Process" Engineering graduate and I'm under 25years. I'll be very grateful if you can offer your kindness towards me in getting a job that will offer me valuable career progression as I Kickstart my Process Engineering journey.
A brief description about me
As a fresh chemical engineering graduate, I possess the technical background needed to succeed in any project or organization I find myself. I can be groomed to be a Process Engineer, Project Engineer, Operations Engineer, Reservoir Engineer, Data Analyst/Visualization Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Manufacturer Engineer, Production Engineer, Quality Control Engineer, Systems Engineer et al. I've found that the big distinguishing factor for the workforce after acquiring an undergraduate engineering degree is the set of interpersonal skills one has and i have a strong command of interpersonal skills and i am in continuous effort in strengthening and developing more interpersonal and social skills to make me excel greatly in anywhere I find myself.

My Career Objective: Committed to playing a prominent role in providing solutions to technological driven problems, and in applying innovative business management practices. Looking forward to gain the skills needed to grow businesses through strategic approaches to project management, big data and decision analysis, supply chain management, business leadership, and human resources management.
I stay in Lagos and willing to relocate to any state/country immediately if the need spring up.

I sent you a pm sir.

P. S., Please Great Men and Women, if you are in the position to help me Kickstart my career or you're a willing to take a chance on me or connect me to the right person/people/organization, I can be reached via Email: Frameworkk04@gmail.com

One of my parents tenants from Ebony state hit a goldmine selling simple pharmaceutical drugs in my very remote village which is about 65km from Ekwulobia. The guy drives high end vehicles and has bought and is still buying lands and properties from families willing to sell to him.
His annual rent is just N50,000 for modern standard 3-Bedroom apartment.
NB: He came to my village just two years ago and started a small chemist shop.

If your risk tolerance is low stay away from anything balance or equity funds otherwise you can try it. Balance or equity funds are heavily dependent on the state of the NSE.
N.B: it's not a discredit to FBN it's general to such funds irrespective of the fund managers. I'm with Investment One.

You are very correct but Barrytone is also spot on. Lagos creates a different mentality in you but it comes with the pressure to show that you have arrived which is what Barry is talking about.
Many folks who go home during Xmas and show off save for it for most of the year, making the folks in those town feel envious.
It's different strokes for different folks.
Lagos may give to you but it will also collect from you. Some people just want a simple decent life. For some people, 3 million in their account is more than enough.

Lagos vs the rest of Nigeria argument be like Nigeria vs traveling abroad argument.

If that is what you want I recommend VGIF. unit price is N1. You can top up with any amount at any time. You have 7.5% guaranteed benchmarked with sdf and extra gain of about 2.5 to 3% which means annually you have about 10.5%. There is option of reinvestment of your interest (compounding). Free entry and exit. To open account click on the link on my signature. You can also call/chat with phone number also on my signature if you need further clarifications.
