Nothing will come out from this protest. All I see here is greediness on the side of the proprietors wanting to use their teachers to achieve their aim. Can't the owners of these school pay their teachers from the school fees they haven been collecting, even if it is half salary.
Secondly, I think this will be an Eye-opener for teachers not to put all their eggs in one basket. They should work on another legit source of income.
only very few proprietors can achieve that. Even to pay the regular monthly salary is not easy. The last time I received salary was February. Where I work they pay half salary during holidays. Some don't pay at all. Collection of school fees is not easy.
So it's not just about the proprietors.
Times are hard.

When a man that should be counting cows is made Minister of Education, the country thus becomes a jungle.
This govt does not place priority on important things.

The government that opened market did not endanger lives?
The government that opened up the airports did not endanger lives?
The government that plan on moving forward with elections are not endangering lives?
The government that locked us up for over two months with nothing to eat did not endanger lives?
The day Nigerians start thinking out of the scope that has been laid out for them is the day we will start moving in the right direction, till then let us all be the subdued animals in the zoo

The owners of schools should pay teachers from their pockets? Why are Nigerians this dumb and insensitive, do you think every student pays their school fees at once? Or don't you know that these teachers are usually paid monthly from the stipends that the students pay. Maintenance and development is included in this stipend! Why do you think the federal government opened up some sectors? It is mainly because funds to sustain the economy was not forthcoming and they risked going broke, but they did not put these private school teachers in mind when they were doing this and wonder how they were fending for their families.

Pathetic lots!

One man's meat... I'm still angry Oyo reopened schools because most people in Ibadan don't even care about the pandemic at all undecided

The people on the Streets need to be sensitized for the schools to be safe because they all go back home from school everyday. It is well!

Whose lives are they endangering really? Just so you know, teachers are in a better position to make sure that the corona virus precautions are adhered to by students. How many parents go to the market, get home and sanitize themselves? Most west African countries have already opened schools

Fully agreed. But to what extent is the protest and what do they hope to achieve? This would have made more sense in saner climes. All the same there isn't harm in trying. All the very best to them, would have been partaker but still jobless.

Always making everything about saner climes..there is no sense at all when you think like this. As if they are not human over there. shioor

those ordinary 30k or 50k is what they are using to cater for themselves and their families since your government is doing nothing to support them... If you know how some have been surviving you will pity them and without the teachers you won't be on this platform typing rubbish. The government should open schools or send monthly stipends to all the private teachers to avoid anarchy...

Did the school owners get school fees from students , no
That's the difference between government schools and private ,
So owners should pay from their pockets ?
That's one of disadvantages of teaching in private schools

Sometimes I wonder how grown men/women like you reason. For your information, school fees were paid preceding COVID-19. If you still dont know, the school term has not been completed before the pandemic. There is nothing stopping the private school owners from giving out monthly palliative to their teachers/staff even if it is a quarter of their salaries. It might interest you to know that some of these schools if not most of them have since the month of June sent out SMS messages to parents to actually pay the third term school fees. It is not hearsay, I am a parent.
