if really you followed all he said you will understand that he have made several attempt to get redressed through those in authority but no head way. Do you want him to die before help will come? As a soldier, no Officer can force you to do anything that is not dignifying or maltreat you. you have the right to say no. The worst he can do is to lock you up in the guardroom. I had an uncle whose orderly will tell me that if oga ventures slap him, he will return the slap with jara.
Oga says pay carpenter with your money, what will happen if you say you don't have money for that. How can you go and hug ant and be crying like a little girl.
Despite all these, I would have respected him if he had done something like pumping the man's car with a bullet and nearly missing him while claiming it was accidental discharge.

In the US Army, if a subordinate reports a superior over maltreatment/bullying of any kind, that superior soldier will be in deep shit. They don't joke with it in the US Army because it demoralizes soldiers a lot which will in turn affect mission.

The Nigerian armed forces should have a standard schedule of duties for orderly and it should made handy for every military personnel,it will guide both the officer and the orderly to work within the boundaries of the schedule of duties.It is totally unfair to dish out such inhumane treatment to a fellow human being.

Some not all. I went to Navy school and grew up around mostly military people. Naval ratings and soldiers do these stuffs. It’s temporary.

Some are drivers and escorts. Nothing new here. If the guy is in a hurry to fight war he shud chill he will be posted.

I can understand errands like ironing oga's uniform or polishing his boots, or cleaning the official car but to go buy tomatoes for market or take children to school haba. And we wonder why they cant win this war.

To be honest, the armed forces is bastardized already. It hurts when you guys (Non commissioned officers) transfer the aggression on innocent civilians. It is in situations like these that you're supposed to bring your aggression and tact to bear.

You are a soldier not a sissy! You fight everyday and your enemy could be your senior officer which you're serving, how do you choose to go about it? In this war, there are no rules. If I was in your shoes, hmm.....all die na die.

It's the needless, unwarranted and undeserved maltreatment and wickedness that is the issue, not the attachment to the Officer/Admiral. That is wrong and also unprofessional. Its against the Navy conduct rules and in a normal environment the Oga should face disciplinary action. And it's especially being metted out based on religious difference, which is another deep problem in this country. Ratings will happily do jobs to their Oga that aren't even part of their official responsibilities but will do it out of respect to a kind and compassionate oga, who is also generous, but nit this type of Oga. Its a choice, thats why he could and he actually did officially report it, and he wasn't sent away saying those were his responsibilities, but because the legal department was also handicapped or in conivance.
Such wicked Officers have no place in the system. They don't motivate or boost the morale of fellow officers/juniors, which affects the entire goal or mission of the system. There are many laws, both civil and military, that can be used in disciplining the oga. It's in their books. They're are procedures to checkmate such abuse of power behavior but aren't being followed. Thankfully this smart brave young man documented all his evidence, and has as a last resort let the world know whats happening because he knows what they're capable of and he doesn't want to disappear or be dismissed or punished again silently. I don't blame, he has exhausted official channels available and was pushed to this, his actions can be defended. It us now left for the navy to set up an impartial committee to investigate this, punish all erring parties, compensate the boy, and this is an opportunity to make some reforms in the deployment of ratings and theirs management by their bosses. And strengthen compliance. Checkmate abuse of discretion and powder. This has exposed a little of the probably the many wrong things going on in the navy silently.
I'm from the East, my uncle is a high ranking naval officer but doesn't treat ratings like this, regardless of their tribes or religion.
