It also Impacts on COST.
Although the border closure mainly impacts Import, Export will also come at a higher cost(COSG) as it means that they'll likely spend a little more pushing for sales.
...the result is a pressure in GROSS MARGIN and eventual decline in NPM.

I do understand the reason for ur question though. ...guess the motive behind it is that FCMGs are infact, suppose to benefit from the border closure.
There are 2 ways to that though;
1) Where their revenue margin(greater sales in view) tilts between exports and local sales.
2) To what extent/degree they rely on import of raw materials.(Import substitution/backward integration in view)

Coys that will be highly favoured by the border closure are those those whose revenue build-up relies far more on local sales than export with point No 1... and those who rely less on import of raw materials for their goods with point No 2.
Where the 2 criterias are met, u should expect nothing short of an acceleration in NPM.(the 1st entails higher gross margin while the 2nd betters EBIT/operating margin)

This is why coys like DANGOTE SUGAR, OKOMU OIL and FMCGs like UACN and FLOURMILL will be better positioned than the likes of UNILEVER, CADBURY and PZ.
The 1st 2(DS and OKOMU are in line for bigger gains)... while UACN and FLOURMILLS are the best placed in FMCGs.

Beyond the matter of border closure, UNILEVER had other issues. ...signs to their worries were there before then.

It is well.

Absolute truth, Peter has also been quiet for sometime now. If it's before you would hear things like " Guinness and UACN are picking passengers at K12, heading to km 20". The Current lull don humble everybody. A good time for Dividend investors to buy though.

Funny thing is that it doesn't seem like this downturn is ending anytime soon, prices may revisit the previous lows.
Quote me in the future, prices are not going back to the march low for now even if most companies declare losses. Unilever should have declined by 10% today if poor results will lead to low prices.

I have said it before and I will say it again, as soon as this Forex disparity is resolved the market will move. It may happen earlier but not later.

I no too blame my self sha, I bought it for long term back then. Plus, Afriprudential registrars refused to process my e-mandate and dividends on time. Imagine, I was just receiving my dividends a few days ago.

United Securities not Afriprudential Registrars. I have this Registrars mixed up, lol.

I did too. That is how an efficient market works unlike our NSE.

With depreciating level of naira, i am tempted to hold my investment in usd by selling off most of my stocks on nse and focus on us market.

That is why buy low (good ones) chop dividend, wait for price appreciation works in NSE unlike volite markets,

I see investment more of NSE but with this devaluation, USD asset class is the way to go. Please is there away to get cheap Dollar instead of
this cut throat price in black market?

Look for diaspora funds. I mean people abroad who want to send money home. They most times sell at discounted rate.

Direct cash settlement vs Stockbroker cash account which is better?

I noticed Direct cash settlement always delay at times it takes more a week for payments .

The difference between the two is that when you sell, your bank account gets credited with the proceeds and not your brokerage account. This means you will have to be transferring back to your brokerage account every time you want to buy. I have tried DCS before and had to switch back to brokerage account funding to reduce the impact of bank charges.

So, DCS is not advisable for traders but good for long term investors.
