Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by ChybuzzDD(m): 4:31pm On Jul 25, 2020 |
Travellerslodge: Your questions should better be directed to the doctors treating him, as they already have more information about him than whatever you can supply us with here. Are you referring to "coma" as "vegetative state"? What's his age? What was the cause of the bleeding? Trauma from RTA, fall, or assault? If this is the case, then he will need an emergency neurosurgery to evacuate the blood clots and stop the bleeding. Or was the bleeding spontaneous? Is he hypertensive? If he's hypertensive, then, it probably means he has what we call hemorrhagic stroke or subarachnoid hemorrhage. Either could be fatal depending on the extent of damage and bleeding. Truth is that there's nothing anyone on nairaland can do for this case. So, get back to the team treating him, and ask for explanation/clarification concerning the diagnosis, treatment plan and his prognosis. |

Money05: Hi You need to provide information about your age and sex. If you are female and above certain age, could this be menopause?. If you are male above certain age, could this be prostate ca?. That’s why it’s always good to state these information please when asking for advice |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by AmbulatoryMedic: 9:42am On Jul 28, 2020 |
Preenxess: Hi, What do you need help with?. You have just provided an image without telling why you had the tests done and what symptoms you were having. Tests can’t be interpreted in abstract. |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by AmbulatoryMedic: 9:47am On Jul 28, 2020 |
Jacku: Hi You can do a full body scan if you or your clinician thinks there is an indication for it. CT-CAP will give you information about the internal organs of your chest, abdomen and pelvis. CT brain will look at your brain soft tissue and ventricles, Bone scan can give information about any bone ca if symptomatic. If you have no symptoms, it’s probably not a good idea to have any scan as you will be exposing yourself to excess radiations which you would not normally be exposed to for the next 6 months to 10 years depending on the scan |

Gee64: What type of seizure does she have? Tonic? Clonic? Generalised tonic-clonic? Myoclonic? Absence? Etc What drug is she on(you only mentioned the dosage)? The type of seizure she has will determine the kind of drug she'll be on. Is she being seen by a Neurologist? A seizure that starts from birth will usually not be curable. She will have to depend on drugs for control; and with proper drug selection and dosing, she can be seizure-free for a reasonable length of time. |

Jacku: You don't need to go chill What's your HIV, HBV, HCV, VDRL status? Have you been vaccinated for HBV? How about your blood glucose, BP, and lipid profile levels? These need to be checked/monitored regularly. Others like Chest x ray/ECG, liver function tests, serum electrolytes, urea and creatinine may be added by your doctor if clinically indicated. |

AmbulatoryMedic: Good evening. I have been TTC for over 6months now I was advised to do pelvic scan and later HVS and Urine test. The results showed there's heavy presence of staph, ecoli and yeast infection. I am yet to take it to the clinic to see a gynecologist. Could these bacteria be the reason for the delayed conception? What drugs can I buy to treat these infections? |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by AmbulatoryMedic: 9:51pm On Jul 28, 2020 |
Preenxess: Hi They shouldn’t ideally cause problems with conception but can be an issue during intercourse. They can also cause an issue during pregnancy if not treated. For ecoli, you can use either trimethoprim or nitrofurantoin if no allergies. Your choice for yeast treatment depends on your preference, miconazole vagina cream or Pessaries should be ok. |

Hello! First time on Nairaland. So, on May 19th I woke up with a sore throat. I waited it out for a couple of days to let it clear up but it didn't, so I went to the pharmacy to buy a throat spray, I used this for a week but it still hurts when I swallow. So I thought it's a bacteria infection, I went to buy erythromycin, I used that till I finished the whole pack but the pain in my throat was still there. The thing is, the pain didn't increase and neither did it decrease and I'm still able to eat food without any issue and drink water. Then, one night I noticed I had a feeling of something lodged in my throat, I drank loads of water to push it down but all to no relief, and I also feel like I have phlegm at the back of my throat so I constantly have to clear it. I'm not in any sort of unimaginable pain or anything because I'm still able to carry on with my daily activities without stress but my anxiety levels has increased because of the feeling of something stuck in my throat. So, I googled my symptoms and boy do I regret that already. I saw a disease called gerd and LPR and the dreaded "C" word. The thought of that makes me want to have a panic attack. I'm a 24 year old male who doesn't smoke nor drinks. What do you guys think could be the problem? Help me out, I'm losing my mind here! |

Ayodeji96:Hi Feeling of lump in throat is not an uncommon symptom. It could be caused by simple lymph nodes inflammation due to viral infection to thyroid problems or even issues lower down the oesophagus. It sounds unlikely to be cancer based on your age and absence of other risk factors (you haven’t mentioned any other symptoms, so I assume nothing else). You probably will need a full throat exam for starters |
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by AmbulatoryMedic: 9:45pm On Jul 30, 2020 |
Preenxess: Trimethoprim covers some type of staphylococcus so it should be fine. The only issue is with resistance depending on the staphylococcus isolated. Am not always convinced with staphylococcus isolated from urine sample. In my clinics, a lot of those are due to sample collection errors and are not pathogenic. |
