Imagine Manure fan calling Man City a big club. Mancunians will be laughing at you. Man City that could be playing Madrid in UCL semi-final and I can stroll to their stadium same day and buy a ticket at the gate. I have done it before for their UCL matches against a whole Barca and Bayern and would have done it for their Madrid semifinal but I had better things to do. Meanwhile, try booking ticket for any decent club and they will be sold out online for months on end. Even Arsenal, a friend coming from Nigeria asked me to book tickets for him, and all I could find on secondary market was Europa league group game months in advance. In the end, the secondary market could not even deliver the ticket because they had sold out. Man City is a small club from the poorest part of Manchester my friend.

My friend EPL was a farmers league in late 90s compared to Italian League which was by far the best, followed by Spanish league, then Bundesliga.

Beckham was a media hype, Neville brothers were 7/10 players and the Scholes we know today only became a don after 2004 when he dropped deep. Scholes of those days was nowhere to be mentioned against the top CMs of that time, someone who gets played off the park and get dumped out of International competitions by Romania and co. You cannot name top 20 CMs in late 90s and added Scholes name. Serie A alone would produce 10 CMs above him in ranking.

Andy Cole and Sherigham are England substitutes no different from Vardy and Imhs today while Dwight Yorke from Aston Villa is those days equivalent of a Jimenez at most.

If you want to talk World Class in that team, you can only call Schneichel, Keane and Giggs.
