TheSuperNerd: When we talk about top goal scorers in general we talk about league games. Why because it is level playing field to assess ability. In general cup games are not used because the quality of the opposition is not constant, with huge variations in quality. That's why a lot of cup games with low quality opposition will be given to bench warmers or players returning from injury. Indeed Manchester United just played LASK and fielded 8 teenage debutants. So when we make a comparison we use a balanced measurement. The EPL is on a different level to the French league and scoring 15 goals in the EPL is a lot harder than scoring 13 in the French league. This is a simple fact. No French Striker has left the French league and has been able to immediately replicate thier goal tally in the EPL. |

Subzero047:Why would Aribo be limited to doing defensive duties when that's primarily Ndidi's job?? Did you watch Aribo against Ukraine and Brasil?? He isn't even much of a chance creator himself but has good passing abilities and can run into space.. I used De Bryune as an example because u said I can hardly find a top team that uses no.10s which isn't true! U can check Lazio,Ajax,Bayer Leverkusen and even Man Utd with Bruno.. That tweet on Ejaria proves nothing.. . check his assists and chance created stats from the 36 games he played in tye championship. 2 Likes |

komekn: Oga, all these long talks don't coat a simple fact. As far as the top 5 leagues are concerned, Osimhen outscored Tammy in all comps despite Tammy completing a whole season and Osimhen still having 10 league games to play. Finito!!! Lol.... Na wa. I just knew you would comment eventually. Predictable as always. Danielnino00: Don’t you think Aribo would be more able to create and score if there was another central midfielder alongside him? Aribo with Ejaria in midfield is a no brainer since they can produce a high amount of creative and defensive work Iwobi without the ball is a liability for the SE and he is not even the creative wizard so why would the team have to carry him when there is an as-good creator and better worker on the bench, this is why many teams dumped the no 10 role, Man city uses it because De Bruyne is De Bruyne and he can produce numbers to justify his role Barca? Madrid? Liverpool? Psg? Juventus? Bayern? These are the top teams and they don't use a 10 and Bruno actually plays as an 8 for Man U not 10 |

They are professional players who train week in week out with the lad so they should know. They only testify to what they have seen. It is indeed a fact Nacho has never missed a penalty right from even the U-17s. A player taking a penalty for a clubside is a matter of a coach's preference. Osimhen joined Lille and met Ikone & Bamba who started the season taking their pens. As time went on, Galtier instructed that Penalties be left for Osimhen and it was so. So KOMEKNISH, I ask you. Have you ever seen Nacho take a penalty before? komekn: 4 Likes 3 Shares |

Subzero047: Bayern use the no.10 role....they have Muller... Madrid? What role does Modric play? As for Liverpool, they dumped the role after Coutinho left and the creativity duty was passed on the full backs.. The Aribo I watched against Ukraine and Brasil can hold his own in midfield without another CM partner... Let's say we decide to dump the AM role, you think Ejaria and Aribo can actually shoulder the responsibility of creating chances for the team? Their stats and style of play notwithstanding?? |

Danielnino00: Muller is a supporting striker, Modric is a central midfielder Why do you think no 10s like James, Coutinho, Isco and Ozil are finding it hard to play? it's because their position has been phased out, teams now demand on their midfielders to be all rounders This thing you are hammering on creativity Iwobi has 3 assists for the SE (Yes 3!) Ejaria and Aribo will double that tally in no time while contributing more to the overall play
|
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Danielnino00(m): 7:23pm On Aug 06, 2020 |
Subzero047: Muller and Modric also play as attacking modifieders... Coutinho,Ozil and James also play from the wing... Being no.10s isn't the primary reason for them finding game time hard, they are simply out of favour at their clubs! And I repeat, the no.10 role isn't being phased out! Some teams are just exploiting other alternative means of creating chances.. Even Man City with De Bryune still enjoy a significant portion of their offensive play from the wing.. Chance creation goes beyond assists... Aribo and Ejaria can't deliver better through balls than Iwobi...they can't give better crosses than Iwobi.. Iwobi may be inconsistent, but that isn't enough reason to phase out the no.10 role from the team.. You aren't even considering the fact that our fullbacks are mostly ineffective when it comes to providing support for the attackers... |

Danielnino00: Aribo and Ejaria are as good as Iwobi offensively and better defensively, Iwobi being good at delivering crosses is a myth if not he would have had more than 0 assists in the EPL and 3 assists for the SE Having all rounders in midfield would benefit and provide cover for fullbacks if they want to overlap, maybe that's why they have been ineffective in attack |

Subzero047: Why are u judging Iwobi with his stat at Everton? What happened to the many chances and crosses he delivered at arsenal? He was their best chance creator after Ozil while he was there.. Even this season,he managed to create 2 big chances in the EPL.. @ your last paragraph, you clearly don't watch our fullbacks at club level.. Maybe you can indetify one or two of them that are very effective in attack at club level.. You want us to dump the AM role and try and play like Liverpool with two CM when we don't have fullbacks that can do the job... 2 Likes |

Danielnino00: Iwobi is no longer at Arsenal, I'm judging him with recent stats, Aribo and Ejaria had more assists playing as CMs than him at AM so going by creativity and output he should not be starting for the national team I don't hate him, I just feel like it's time to tweak our midfield and replacing him with Ejaria gives our midfield balance, gives our fullbacks protection and license to go forward, adds more guile and ball possession to our style of play Liverpool's midfield is not the yardstick for a 3 man midfield, you can check Madrid's, Leicester's, Man U's, Tottenham's maybe your affinity to Liverpool makes you believe that a 2 man CM cannot create |

Also in Sweden, Alhassan Yusuf played all 90mins as his side, IFK Goteborg drew 2-2 against Ostersunds FK. Moses Ogbu (29yrs) scored for Mjallby as they drew 1-1 against Sirius also in the Swedish Allsvenskan. He is now on 4 goals and 1 assist in 11 league games played for his side. 3 Likes |
