shocked sad Imagine asking a company to pay N25 million.per year and on top of that, they still have to pay for adminstrative bureaucracy fees of other accompanying permits and registration, and then on top of that you still want to collect a percentage on fares of each trip? WHO DOES THAT? Make d govt kukuma carry gun to rob na, as dey r looking for money by any means. Shey na only der papa get problem to solve, abi d Uber and Taxify drivers wey dey hustle day and night, and midnight to put food on their tables, d drivers don't have problem na, dey just love driving at 3am risking their lives for nothing. Abi na der papa buy d moto give d drivers to drive? They just killed Gokada, Max Ng, O'Ride...... businesses that were setup with millions of dollars gone down the drain just like that. Because they couldn't extort them their normal agbero style of extortion. Now they want to destroy Uber and Taxify too. Agbero government. Go to Lekki, all the way from Phase One to Ajah, agbero don dey collect money for bus stop. No difference between Lekki and Mainland again, Ajah don turn to Oshodi. What am I saying sef, all the way from Bonny Camp, to Ozumba to Abraham Adesanya sef, LASG agbero boys have taken over. THIS IS WHY TINUBU MUST NEVER BECOME PRESIDENT IN NIGERIA in 2023. They will turn this country to an agbero empire. A government of Agberos, By Agberos for Agberos. It will never happen. This is absolute madness, you could have just told new entrants not to even think venturing into the business..this may obviously not be a problem for uber and bolt, but if this eventually has a ripple effect on the drivers via increase of service commission, they can kiss their ass goodbye from Nigerian fleet managers whom are the power house of the ride-hailing companies, of which many are pulling out in droves today..

- Total purchase of a (non-rusted) regular corolla including registrations and starter pack/kit - 2m
- Average income /week (full time) - N100,000
- minimum Fueling/week - N30,000
- Commission remittance (currently) - N25,000
- average e-hail coy commission - 25% - N25,000
- Drivers earning 20k or less per week for being 112hrs on the road out of 168hrs, that is terrible but everyone is trying to survive..

- Fleet managers take home/week - (N25,000)..
Monthly sum - (N100,000)

inevitable expense projections:
Service - (N8,000 monthly)
- Monthly tire change projection (used) (N7,000)
- Monthly repairs projection (dollar rise in parts) - (15,000)
- Fines/levies/impound/tolls provision - (5,000)
- Driver short pays and run-aways - (5,000) or could cost you a whole week if not two.
- Logistics, tracking & follow ups - (5,000)
- Monthly Comprehensive insurance - (7,000)

Somebody is selling this idea to the government. The plan is to force Bolt and Uber off so they can take over the market. Truth is even if they succeed, they cannot run the market with their Nigerian mentality. They simply want to spoil this venture that has provided jobs for thousands of Nigerians.

the last time that agbero and one million boys were on lock down, everyone was crying and lamenting that they wanna kill the people.

the major work and duty of a government is to make the citizens busy and active. thereby crimes will reduce..

Correct. It's time govt expands her income capacity especially on multinationals that post billions of dollars in their headquarters and contribute nothing here while making billions of Naira.

If America that benefits revenues from all over the world through activities of its companies like Google, twitter, uber, Facebook, IG, etc could ban other people's APPs then. We must start taxing on money they make here too.

This is a step leading economies (China, India, US) have taken, the world must follow suit and make money from them if we can't ban
Uber and Taxify are not in profit yet. Stocks have grown but they are not in profit.

When government make this kind of law without considering the impact on the masses, get to know one of their buddies is about to start transportation business in Lagos

Government is right in trying to expand their income base due to the fall in oil prices which is also reflected on the Federal allocations they get.
However, the SOCIAL COSTS of any new policy they seek to implement should be considered as well. If the new service charges on the drivers are implemented without regard to the drivers and the fleet owners, millions of people , including the The TNC companies like Uber and Bolt staff could end up being thrown out of job.
The multiplier effect of the above policy on the economy, safety and well being of citizens as a result of the above is better imagined than experienced !
I have a feeling that the government is yet to fully understand the cost factors involved in the operation of e-hailing service companies and their operators, so they need to take time to study the industry rather than just wrongly assuming that the industry is a cash cow waiting to be milked endlessly.

You brought it down well.

There is no business in Nigeria.

That is what I tell people who have not ventured into business before now. They won't know till they get bitten.

As for the politicians, who are always finding it easy to tax businesses or increase existing taxes, it's because they are busy feeding fat on government money meant for all.

I don't really blame them. I can't even invest in any business in Nigeria even if I have N1bn except meat production or rental property.

Nigerian govt is known for killing businesses.

OBJ and GEJ were the last business friendly presidents Nigeria had.

This is the result of taking a salary earner who has never run a business in his life and voting him in as your Governor or President.

The average Nigerian voter no get sense.

They assume to know everything when they haven't even tipped 10% of existing knowledge.

When even I couldn't break even driving my own car on the App I wonder how they manage to deliver to the owner.

Now they are pushing the cabs out.

They want to make way for a new solo transport company that will take care of bikes and cabs all at once. Owned by someone in or close to the government.
