Mine was years ago . I say make I try my luck for FIRS. Woke up that morning, carried my everly arranged and gallant CV , bath, dressed up and headed straight to a FIRS branch at Lagos. Back then person wey dey work for inland revenue service na big boy just like Chevron. As I entered the gate, I saw two angry looking security coming my way . They were like "bros who you dey find". Me that I don't even know who I was looking for I didn't even know what to say. Then one of them shouted "pls get out". As a Nigerian graduate wey naturally get ego , I told them to talk to me politely and stop shouting. They even started pushing me , I felt like the ground should swallow me. One sexy chick was passing by (obviously working there ) approached the scene to know what was going on. She told me to pass a call to whoever invited me , I said okay and pretended to go outside to make the call. I jejely walked back home in shame.

Second was months after that incidence, I got a job as a gateman in a firm. Never had I been so embarassed in my life. Customers talking to you anyhow like you're shìt. Infact they see gatemen as lowlives. Infact I used to wear facecap and dark shades just incase I bump into any of my old classmate. I just dey imagine one of my old time coursemate driving in in a sleek car and me wey be gateman open gate for am lol.. well imagination later turn reality. It happened for real. Thank God for my dark shades and face cap but it wasn't enough. . I hid my face when I noticed he started staring at me like he knew me from somewhere.

Thank God for today, ventured into business. Things aren't rosy but as long as God is on the throne, there is hope.

Make God no allow us hide our face from our old class mates. Hustle must pay one day, cuz God no go shame us.

Right from my first day in Uni. I made up my mind not to job hunt ever in my life. So have no embarrassing experience with job hunt. But I think I have faced more embarrassing moment in Business. Especially when I started out.

I finished my NYSC as a fresh babe, I had high hopes, there was this highly influential man on my Facebook that had promised to collect my CV after my NYSC, immediately I finished my NYSC, I talked with him, he said thankGod you are done, it's not easy, then I asked him if I could send my CV to him now that I'm done since he said I should do so when I'm done, this man kept my message on read, I still chatted him up again and again, he still kept my message on read. I bet he was especting punna before he gives me the slot, but this baby girl wasn't gonna part with it.

That was in 2017. I had written my finals the previous year so I needed to get my hands busy.

I heard there was an opening at a hotel in Calabar. I hadn't taken into consideration the nature of the job.
My people, I picked up myself, took my bath and was dressed for the interview. Wearing good clothes was a serious challenge then honestly. I didn't know that one is supposed to dress smart. I just wore my faded trouser and an old shoe.

I was the 2nd person on the list. The look the interviewer gave me was one of consternation. I did impressed (I believe)in the oral interview. I was then asked to bring a wine bottle from the cellar and open. Na there e happen o.

I never knew how to open wine nor how to hold a drinking cup prior to that time. The man just looked at me and said "This job isn't for you". You'll get something that suits you.

Even me sef I knew I wasn't prepared enough for the job. I sha left feeling embarrassed that I couldn't open wine with a wine opener. The man showed me how to use the opener afterwards.

Another embarrassing experience was the day I went for an interview as a teacher. I love teaching. I entered a taxi that made a big tear on my trouser. My people, I had to go like that. it was an army school and they keep to time a lot.

I couldn't tuck in my shirt because the tear happened behind. I went there smiling. I was asked why I didn't tuck in. I told them and even showed them the tear.

They laughed and asked that I continue. I answered the practical (demonstration) and written examination well.

I was called about 1 week later to work at NAOWA Calabar. I worked there till I left for service in 2018.

That's my true life tale.

None as I am an advocate of self employment.

No much experience though..... except the one way one Indian man do me that year...

Interview successful in ihovbor electrical power plant/ marubeni...na so nigggar dey happy go house...go prepare for the next day for the remaining additional interview and resumption of work.... company bus na 6:30 am...see wahalar...how i want take meet up..ok I go do am... early morning next day niggarrr run reach bus stop by 6:42am...bus don go..haaa.. problem.
Enter bike pursue... forwhere....i nor see the bus..I just kukuma say make the bike man carry me go the company direct...reach there unfortunately the admin one Indian man just dey the entrance of the office...why are you late? Niggarrr was dumbfounded......okay Indian man says go back you have been sacked...no need for the remaining interview....haha.....no na... just like that..na so a real niggarrr begin dey beg one stupid Indian man for him own country...see disgrace... finally Indian man accept.....Indian man says oya go and clock your card...
Indian people are just something else... funny enough they were even using their own products in Nigeria...the company bus was TATA... Indian vehicle
I nor even work reach one year for there self..I just gather small money from the salary then i forward my resignation letter...I just use the amount i gather plus the bonus amount way the company give me....I just buy one laptop begin dey huzzle for house....I can't continue to be disgraced and treated badly in my own country by some stupid Asians...

I Got to the interview without my resume and when they asked me for it I just stared back blank faced, my throat was dry and when I wanted to explain that I assumed they should have it, as I started speaking, spit flew from my mouth onto the face of the HR staff. As she jerked backwards, her cup of coffee in her other hand spilled all over her white suit and she screamed because it was hot and she fell backwards onto the glass table which shattered.

I got up and left in a hurry and ended up crashing into the glass sliding door and it broke to pieces.

Remember when I went to look for work at the bus stop, the interview guy ask how fast can you drive, I tell am like those fast and furious guys, e come say we need some of faster, shame just catch me, like say make ground swallow me.

so I'm a student at the start of the pandemic I decided to get a job to support my online Hussle
then.... and coincidentally tgis new mall or large supermarket open just arround my side after much self persuasion I decided to give it a shot.

I got there and I said even if it cleaner.... I no dey fear Hussle .... the dude I met was like a slot is open for messenger and cleaner and the pay they mentioned wasn't all that bad...

I was cool with it that how he said I should come the next day to talk to HR well

the next day I was ready I dressed well you won't know it was cleaner job I was going for....

On my way out, clouds gathered from nowhere ...I was like Normal .. I live up north ...breeze would just blow and then small drizzle ...
I took bike cause I was running late
mid way just at the roundabout it started dropping... I said to myself I could still make at that same close to the roundabout I don't know if it was a lorry breakdown or accident ... we just hook there
to make it worse the rain started ...

I just left the bike guy to find cover Las Las when I got there. I was dripping wet, head to toe
the look on their faces and eyah I was hearing made me feel pitied which I hate .... I dried up halfway then went into the office. the mean HR lady look said it all...she was actually nice after few chit chat


she said she would call me when I would start work I was still not sure they collected everything phone number maybe even my Nairaland Monika

Trying my hand on here and there until I decided to go into biz...No time!!!

Got a message that I've been shortlisted for the company interview. They dropped the address. I couldn't even remember which of my numerous applications was inviting me.

Spent the entire remaining days reading hard, starched my shirt, ironed, wore tie, prayed and fasted, abstained from sin, bind my entire villagers.

Only to get there and saw my haggard looking "interviewers" claiming they have millions. Congratulating me on getting the job before finally confessing that they're just GNLD.

I immediately off my tie and hid it in my envelop.
