Take what I will tell you very serious so that mechanic don't finish your money. I am telling you from experience Every volkswagen radiator in control by the airflow circuit system, so every time you open your radiator in the morning or afternoon before going out you depressurize it whereby creating air bubbles when your radiator heats up that bubble increases your temperature because is now gas in water. Don't open your radiator every morning , monitor your water level from the radiator plastic container. If you must put water in the radiator do it by 4am when the engine is cold. Don't ever open your radiator during the day to put water. Do this and monitor the car for two days. The major problem you have is opening the radiator every day and topping water above the recommended level. Allow space to allow the gas bubble generated by heat from the water to have some space. Thank me later 1 Like |

7pages:Most mechanics are just dumb assholes, they will be changing one thing after another until they completely kill your Engine. Had the same problem with my car and they continued extorting me until I had to buy a new engine and that solved my problem permanently. If the cooling fan is working and water pump is working without leakage then the radiator is probably dirty or bad you may either wash it or buying a new one will be better. But know that radiator issue is usually accompanied by irregular movement of your temperature metre. The temperature gauge always goes up and down. You said you usually top water everyday, then look for leakages especially at the radiator and water pump side |

@7 pages, a lot can contribute to why your car overheats. Changing speedometer sensor and the fuel pump does not have any correlation with you car overheating. 1. Check that your radiator is not clogged with mud if u usually pass through muddy pool of water on the streets. If clogged, ensure u take out the front bumper to have access in taking out the radiator for a wash/flush. This will enable the radiator to breath. 2. If your car is using a single fan, check that the connection is intact and not having partial contact or not contacting in supplying adequate power to the fan. If it is supplying adequate power, then ensure the radiator is flushed but if it's not supplying adequate power, check the relay under that water tank. It could be that the relay is faulty and needs to be changed. The relay controls the fan module for radiator and air conditioning fan if yours uses AC if it's a double fan. Taking the thermostat to original setting has nothing to do with you car over heating because I know the one that came with the car has been removed to allow free flow of water circulating the engine. For the top gasket, ensure its changed. Also check if the water pump is faulty as this could lead to your car overheating. |

The problem with seeking advice online from a general , non- specialist forum is that you get confused because everyone will want to say something. First off, do not mind those advising you to connect your fans directly to the ignition. Your fans are supposed to work on/off depending on the engine temperature. Secondly, whether your thermostat is stuck open or closed, i do not think it has anything to do with the overheating. In cold weather, you won't get warm air in the car if your thermostat malfunctions. I suggest you reverse any new wiring introduced by the "rewire." Most importantly, check your water pump and radiator. Perhaps they are not working fine or clogged. I have a guy who replaced top cylinder gasket 3 times due to overheating. What solved the problem was a new radiator. Please come back here with feedback so we know what solved the problem. Good luck. 1 Like |

You see a guy trying to make ends meet legit and here some idiot instead of giving him good advice or keep quiet if there is none they are making mockery of him .@ops try get a specialist on Volkswagen cars to check you water pump, gasket, and the radiator might be dirty or air is trapped in it and might need rebleeding . |

7pages: Your First step is to remove the radiator, take it to the guys that work radiators to wash the inside. Then take it to a car wash stand and blow it back and front. Watch as your car becomes practically perfect. If it doesn't work find a better Tech Guy to look into it, sibce nothing happens to the gasket, u have to use double cells. As engines weakens out, radiator tend to reduce in capacity to cater for the higher temperature of the engine thus need' for double cell. But strictly on the tech guy's advice. But do what I first wrote and thank me later. |

Thermostat and radiator. That's all. Do not wire the fan direct. It should be working through the relay |

Check the fan direction or air flow. Check and flush your radiator If it's clogged happened to me once. I was using water as coolant and left it in for too long. Its a big radiator had to be taken apart and put together Your car definitely doesn't have a thermostat. So get one. Check you oil fill cap if it's milky then your head gasket must be damaged

1. Try bigger radiator 2. Then buy brand new gaskets(wait there to see them put in the new gaskets, they sometimes play games and put used ones if you're not there) 3. Try avoiding traffic |
