Democracy works.

Why it does not work in Nigeria is down to two things

1.You people think your democratic participation ends at the ballot box.

2.You guys want free stuff.

Democracy does not work in Black Africa because our levels of education and ENLIGTENMENT are not high enough to overcome the psychological burdens of religion, poverty, cultural and the tribal prejudices that overwhelm our thought process/actions and the pysche of the masses. In a democracy, the masses are the ones who vote and determine outcomes. Even in enligtened countries the masses are gullible, talk less of a country whose masses are encumbered by the issues Ihighlighted above. Can such a people ever deliver good leaders? NO!

Show me a truly functioning black democratic country...in Africa.

Our armed forces here in Nigeria, are you seeing what your mates are doing?
Chase away these politicians whether PDP or APC, ban all of them from ever taking part in politics and allow new blood come in.

Stop talking like a hopeless and helpless fellow.
Why should you desire soldiers to dictate to you how to live your life, instead of working to be an integral part of the decision through democratic process?
Isn't that so lame

It does not work like that.

We did that in 1966, and 1983, and seven years later, we had new looters in charge each time.

Go and join a party, or form one and be the change you seek. Army rule is an ill wind that blows no good.
We keep recycling the same set of politicians who loot us dry under different political parties, that's the problem.

This flag of Nigeria reminds so many about diff things For some its football, oil, bokoharam, militancy, fraud, insecurity, the past, corruption etc nobody mentiones pride. We need youths like Malick diaw in nigeria with genuine intentions of lifting our nation from the shackles of evil leaders

If only our soldiers didn't come from the same cowardly population of this nation.

If only some people tend to forget that Army rule was a really harsh thing.

Stop longing for Army rule. Buhari is not good as a leader, but there are certian things as a civilian ruler that he cannot do, whereas if he was a millitary ruler, he would have passed a decree and backdated it....and done the illegality.

Plus we are in the middle of a war. The last thing we need is a potential cause of instability in the army ranks....as if we don't have enough already.

Ah, in 1983...a young millitary ruler came with the genuine intention of lifting our nation from the shackles of evil leaders....and we know it ended with one set of corrupt people being replaced with another set of corrupt people.

In 1966, a young youthful millitary guy came on the air with this speech...let me quote part of it for you...

Like good soldiers we are not promising anything miraculous or spectacular. But what we do promise every law abiding citizen is freedom from fear and all forms of oppression, freedom from general inefficiency and freedom to live and strive in every field of human endeavour, both nationally and internationally. We promise that you will no more be ashamed to say that you are a Nigerian.

Four years and five to ten million dead people later......plus we are still dealing with the fallout.

Better stop longing for a Malick. We have had several Malicks in the past, and they all ended up being Mobutus. No thanks.

Nope... We are not in a war!!! We are merely in the midst of one of the worst civilian regimes ever known across the universe.

We won't make such comments if the legislature lived up to half of her responsibilities. Mali would never have gone down that road if the executive had been checkmated by the legislature.

What would you have had Egypt do back then??! How do you negotiate out of a failed leadership??!

All these countries are small. it is easier to manage a small country where there isnt much money or people to satisfy. The GDP of Malawi is about $7B, Lagos alone is ten times the entire population of Botswana. As for South Africa, they are a basket case, only surviving because the structure put in place by the white man are harder to demolish. Nonetheless, they are doing their damn best to dismantle it all. last time I checked they are now no 3 (GDP) whereas they were once no1 and ahead of everyone else when they gained their independence from Apartheid.

Most coups aren't plotted by chiefs of staff. It's usually middle-level officers. Sometimes, it's even junior officers. The first thing you do is lock up the CoSs before arresting the president.

I will leave soon one way or the other so you all can have your sweet fatherland to yourselves. It's a curse to be born African and another to be born Nigerian.
