Player favouritism and clubophobic bias has creeped into this thread..
Now I hate coming here
Here used to be one of my favorite threads in this forum.I observe and enjoy all the comments.. But not anymore!. Its changed.
So sad!

player favoritism has always been a thing since it's inception so that cannot be a reason

U guys re not giving us tangible reason y ighalo's. And also moses coming back to d national team is ill advised cos I don't get

Even d best national teams we look up to..dey re still parading deir "old legs", d likes of dani alves, thiago,Buffon, muller and co..dis guys are still very much active for dier national teams

I am sure if dis guys were Nigerians, we would av been calling for d retirement against dis mediocres we parade as players..our players wey go Neva win laurels or play @ a big stage when it matters..shio smiley

Which of these players retired, and came out of retirement to be "very much active" for their national teams? undecided

slight adjustment

2) Iheanacho - Proven SE player. Above average in EPL
7) Musa - Proven SE player performed at highest international level
10) Umar - showed promise in Seria A and Dutch Eredivise. Doing well in Serbia. Did well at Rio. untested and unproven in international soccer
11) Nwaemeke - tested in SE yet to prove quality
13) Iwobi - Struggling in EPL but proven in SE
14) Kayode - Laliga flop. tested in SE yet to prove quality

Based on SE performances yes Ighalo was outstanding but based strictly on club football at the highest level (not championship) sorry he leaves a lot to be desired. between Seria A, La Liga and EPL Odion has only scored more than 10 goals once. please that is not something to advertise as outstanding

Musa actually flopped in the EPL but was still outstanding for the SE agreed, after playing in the middle east does he still have it ❓

KC is a flop in the EPL but above average competence in the SE.

Kayode was on fire in the Austrian league but did not get a run of games in the SE. A flop I disagree, he needs to prove quality for now way down the list.

Umar has been at best very average in better leagues but was totally abysmal in Rangers. He has gone to the backwaters of Europe and has been very good not the best in the league. He needs to upgrade his league and club and prove he has quality.

I noticed a player rejected by Arsenal dismissed at WBA is now becoming the best left winger in Europe.

The one consistent thing of football is CHANGE either up or down.

All Ahmed Musa need is to go back to European league again, forget all these Oyekwuru,Kalu hypes, may be Chuckwueze would be able to do it I don't know...

Same way Osimhen Accolades shows he has had more impact every where he has played than Ighalo at just 21.

Heck Ighalo couldn't even make Segunda A or Championship or Seria b team of the season when he played there. He couldn't even win player of the season at any of his club.

EOD

Stop deceiving yourself. Osimhen is yet to attain Ighalo's level.

Ighalo is a legend in Granada.

musa did well in russia and holland yes saudi league is low level but won't use that to say (yet) he has lost it. happy you used the gnabry example flopping in EPL is not the end of the world.

still insist it's premature to call KC a flop in the EPL.

Kayode struggled in Spain and Ukraine but is finding his feet in Turkey. he was given good game time in the SE still needs to prove himself.

Umar yes struggled in scotland but how much game time was he given coupled with the fact that gerrard totally didn't rate him. again like the gnabry example you cited just because a coach doesn't rate you doesn't mean you can't turn the corner.

the bold is the reason I argue with you sometimes because of the fluid nature of football i can't declare someone as a categorical flop. Solanke could wake up on the right side of the bed tomorrow start bagging goals in the EPL. you can criticize a player when he's obviously not performing to expectations but when he starts doing better and turning the corner it would be unfair to the player to start doubting him based on passed performances. it will be like insisting thierry henry is a seria a when he later turned out to be one of the greatest players of his generation. so if people are happy and see encouragement in Iheanacho and nwakali's recent games let them be.

football is a funny game you can be a late boomer like drogba, vardy etc or progress naturally. it's all about improving your game.

This doesn't even prove anything
The award was given to him out of discretion and not because he was exceptional. What is exceptional about scoring 2 goals both from the penalty spot for Nigeria and 1 League goal the whole season?

What stats did he have in 2013 to make him deserve the award? undecided

You're just going in circles and at the end of the day his stats only show how piss poor he is as a winger

Bhuhahahaha! Your claim that he was won nigeriam player of the year as winger has just been busted. Now, it is at their discretion. Bhuhahahaha! grin

Do you think BBC, CAF, Goal.com, Golden lion, NFF just dash am at their discretion at the same time in 2013? Just chop your humble pie and move on. grin

"for a player who plays in an elite club" - all you're concerned about is the clubs they play for. What if the players are doing better than the ones in the so called elite clubs??. Now both players are on loan, if the loan deal expires and a player like Ighalo for example goes back to his pension football, what basis will justify his inclusion to the national team??

our players re just dere...average, nothing special - All of the players at their ages are at a higher level Ighalo and Moses were at their age. And if we don't give them chance to prove themselves, how will they get to the level Vicmo and Ighalo reached with the national team??. or we should stick with Ighalo and Moses till the other players move to elite clubs

VICMO had a shot cleared off the line. I do think you should blame the coach calling up mediocre players and the NFF, taking such an important match against Egypt to Kaduna, knowing fully well the weather will affect our players adversely...
