There are some aspects that make sense in the law. I will not like a situation where people will formed NGO include churches and turn it to family business also. However government should understand that spiritual issues is different from physical issues. I therefore suggest that government should not intervene in church affairs except the church is going contrary to its own constitution.

How is the law interfering with spiritual matters? Is there any part banning prayers, praise/worship, evangelism or showing love in that law?

Those against CAMA Amendment are either ill-informed or mischievous.

In sane societies like USA, South Africa, UK, Europe, Australia etc, there are agencies that regulate religious organisations, CSOs and NGOs. Why should Nigeria's be different?

Some people said it is a fight against the church, and I ask, which Church?

If the Bible is right, the Church is the congregation of believers. It is not a building or religious organisation. And believers don't need any formal nomenclature or organisation to worship. The Bible says where two or three are gathered, CHRIST is present. The Bible never said people should establish organisations, neither did the early Christians establish organisations.

Now let's look this....

A man wakes up on a faithful morning, he approaches CAC (Government) to register his organisation, which he names XYZ Church

He lists himself, his wife, Kids or associates as Trustees

He gets certificate from the government to operate...

Yet, he argues with the government that they have no right to regulate the activities of the same organisation that he went to government to register.

He shouts persecution, war against the church and God.

Meanwhile, he is the final authority and CEO in the religious organisation, and won't hesitate to show the exit door to anyone that questions his authority.

The irony is that he abides to similar laws abroad...

As much as I'm not a fan of this administration, I support this CAMA... Although Nigeria politicians are useless

FACT:

FG or any other government cannot regulate the "Church" (congregation of believers). Even the Roman government couldn't regulate the Church.

However, government can only regulate religious organisations (formal organizations) that are registered with the government in line with the constitutional mandate.

The rule is simple, don't register your organisation with government if you don't want to be regulated... Same way you don't register your business and NGO with government if you don't want their regulation...

You wrote well and you spoke my mind...
But let me add to it...

These religious bodies hide under their church to assist politicians to launder money...

They hide under their church, they extablish schools (primary secondary university) they own hospitals transport company (buses) even own private jet airline companies ...using their church names ... And they bill the public millions of Naira (making money from these businesses) but never pay tax to the Government.

They purchase choice and luxury properties every where. They own massive structures .. shopping malls plaza duplexes estates e.t c ...they collect rent from the people yet they don't pay Kobo to the Government.

Many of these churches Daddy GO use their church names to collect Contracts from Government and private organising as banks oil firms e.t.c ... Yet they don't pay tax to the government.

They are supposed to be NGO's (Non governmental Organisations) .... But while other NGOs are regulated and their finances are published.... Our Nigerian churches will be crying fowl that they don't want the Govt to regulate them....while the GOs will be laying curses on anyone that dare to question the church ..

They are all criminals....they divert the church money to them personal use ... Because they think no one can dare ask them ..

As GO / CEO of the church ...when they die the church becomes the inheritance of their wife their children and blood relatives ... U can ask late Bishop idahosa wife.
(the church is a business entity it's a conglomerate)

The supposed house of God have been turned into a house for thiefs Cheats and criminals....

Let me stop here for now ....

Nigerians must stop being dummies.
We must all stand up to these GOs ... They ain't God.

So do you think Jesus who asked his followers to pay them would have consented to the idea of his members killing people for any reason? undecided

Well i know most of you just go to church, you all lack deeper understanding of the scriptures!

If you must know, the Pharisees, Saddusees, Scribes and other Rabbis who came to question Jesus regarding the tax imposed on them by the Roman government actually want to fight back without paying such intimidating levies, they believe with someone as mighty as Jesus in their midst the Roman government is no match, with Jesus whom they can all see that's greater than Moses who singlehandedly defeated Pharaoh of Egypt, they're prepared to fight it out, but when Jesus said "PAY" they were weakened and totally discouraged.
So according to Jesus instead of fighting for any reason once those in authority (Caesar) ask us to pay any fine, levy, tax or other dues so far we can continue our preaching and teaching program undeterred we should pay them off! smiley

Maximus69:

Jesus said "PAY" {Matthew 22:17-21} indicating rules demanding some forms of levy but to join the military in doing what exactly? Matthew 26:52 embarassed

Don't you think PAY means actually mean GIVE?

Turns out this particular govt is a scammer in everything. This is the same law for which Obaze was sacked from FRC in 2016 or so after Adeboye said he was resigning due to the demands of the law. Now that they need votes no more, they introduce the same law while Osinbajo the sitting duck can do nada. I'll like to see if Baba will resign again or just accept it as it has come

Oga, government has been doing so.

Besides the majority of cases of impropriety being swept under the carpet, we have also seen public officers being called out to account for their stewardships. The list is endless; from Ibori to Nyame to Dariye.

Whether it is motivated by politics or not, this is the way to go. Leaders, in all fields of human endeavor, must imbibe this. We must fix Nigeria by becoming responsible and accountable, whether as individuals or corporates.

The new CAMA act encompasses all religious organisations. Why is CAN the only one crying foul?

Unfortunately, CAN has no choice this time. They are no sacred cows. They have long constituted themselves as untouchables. This has to end.

Sunday is largely not a working day because it is the day of worship for Christians, right? Is it the same for persons of other religions?

These CAN guys should go and sit down jare! If we must enthrone probity and responsible public behaviors / conducts, then it must start with religious organisations.

If you , I mean you run and unregistered NGO in Nigeria , will you not be prosecuted by the police for fraudulent acts.

All I can say is that whoever is troubling God in this country inclusive of all collaborators that write this king of selfish, dubious and malicious wrteups will meet their waterloo soon and their generations will not escape Gods judgment. Because you're troubling God.

What happened to the ones they audited , stole the whole money dry and nothing to show for it. No roads, no water , no lights , no work and you insist on supporting same.

Did you watch the video at all?. It answered your questions. Also, do mosques earn income?. Mosques do not earn income. They are houses of worship but churches in nigeria are 95% percent business centers. Tell me what most of the pastors do for living besides owing churches?. Churches are business centers because worshippers make monthly payments via tithes.
