okoroemeka: Thank you as always boss, but my concern is if the cu986 is dark green. I am doing a bit of research on other variety. Darina performed very poorly on my farm.. same Farm greengo and cu999 did well. After trying out 5 cucumber variety, Murano 2 F1 - terrible planting it alone and got ripped easily Tokyo - takes too long, not mind blowing production Greengo - sweet production, Cu999 - another sweet production, just that my market is selective Darina - worse ever for me... maybe I don't know how to cultivate it. Greengo is my preferred choice(just that this seed is damn expensive) and cu999 as a pollinator 1 Like |

4words:cu 999 is an incredible cucumber variety,it is reliable and dependable,we have tried all the varieties above including marketer, supermarkter,Poinsett, market more, lion seed, monalisa, saira,cu 986,etc.but the cu 999 has an unbeatable pedigree, due to market preference it may be well fertilized to achieve deep green color and harvested at 40-43 days to get medium size fruits 1 Like 1 Share |

I predicted the increase in the price of cucumber during the lock down and that was why I planted immediately after the lock down. Currently I ought to he smiling to the bank but guess what, I planted a seed variety of cucumber I wasn't used to. Closed to 18,000 stand of cucumber, barely producing to fill 20 bags. When the last 5,000 seed variety I planted, I got almost 300 bags total harvest. Right now I am pissed and disappointed. I invested alot and I am losing. |

austinomd: Dear All, i thought about coming here to continue sharing my experiences on my Ugu project. I decided to leave it alone for seeds and not touch it due to the wicked market conditions and it ended up being a blessing in disguise as the drought finally set in. This is approx. 7 weeks of no rainfall at Ikorodu, Lagos and am smiling because the weeds are busy protecting my very vulnerable plant roots for me to avoid them from burning out while that of other farms has started withering off. Male flowers has started forming so i intend weeding & fertilizing it once the rains begin in September while praying & hoping that it will produce the seeds i will use for my dry season farming in November as the cost of Ugu seeds is outrageously high and that is the only limiting factor for me to embark on dry season farming. i am patiently waiting for those who set the market conditions during the dry season while i will keep updating the house as i journey through. potential dry season buyers should keep this number 08183549869- Emmanuel. |

I'll suggest you water now and apply fertilizer if you have the means to do so, those weeds will be competing for nutrients with the ugu, especially now that you are expecting fruits, so if have access to water, you should clear the weeds, allow them to dry and use the dried grass as mulch at the base of the plant, this will help in reducing water loss due to evaporation. Re: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by ideepaul: 6:57pm On Aug 27, 2020 |
Hasib04:Rabbit manure is the Best by a long margin...but it's not available in large quantities, and it's really expensive! I would only advice you use it's manure if; You are planning to cultivate that land for the long-term You have a rabbit farm and it's available to you cheaply The farm is in a densely populated area |

Silvereze: Not that greengo canthe grow on its own, just that I like playing it safe because from research, greengo is a gynoecious (or is it pf can't remember ). However, I planted it with cu999 to be on a safe side with the male flowers. |

Yemighty2: My advise, don't plant murano alone, though I once planted murano 2 F1 alone come see all my flower aborting also It ripen on time. But if you want to go for it, plant it with a male dominated cucumber to be on a safe side. 1 Like |

I cannot experiment with any unproven variety again,cu 999 is very flexible and can be grown for specific market, proper spacing of 50-60cm and good fertilization program will give you dark greenish cukes also you can choose to harvest from 40-44 days to get medium sized cukes.with good management cu999 never fails to give good yields, but some varieties even with top notch management their yields are miserable,an example is when we planted lion seed and cu 999 on same land and same management but the lion seed gave 60% less than cu999,it is incredible to see healthy green crops with no cucumbers to harvest, incredible!!! |
