Our music industry in Nigerian has witnessed an explosive growth over the years and this development has brought a rising hunger for international recognition and dominance.
In the last few years, several Nigerian artistes have promised to win a Grammy award as the global award is considered music’s highest recognition.
We have several Nigerians artiste that have won the Grammy but most of these people are not born In Nigeria, they were born in the UK and the USA.
However, there are two Nigerians that were born and bred in the country that have done the unimaginable by winning the Grammy awards; Not once but two times.

Although unknown to the average Nigerian and the younger minds, here are the home bred musicians that have won the Grammy award twice:

SIKIRU ADEPOJU
Sikiru Adepoju is a 69 years old percussionist and recording artist from Nigeria, primarily in the genres of traditional African music and world music. He plays the talking drum as his musical instrument.
A master of the talking drum, Adepoju comes from a musical family from Eruwa, Oyo State, Nigeria. While still in his teens, Sikiru was a member of Ebenezer Obey’s Inter Reformers Band, he toured with and recorded several albums with them until he left for the United States Of America in 1985. In the US, the boy from the descendants of drummers joined O. J. Ekemode’s Nigerian All-Stars, and he met Babatunde Olatunji three months later.
He became a vital part of Olatunji’s Drums of Passion, and via Olatunji met Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart.
He was also part of Mickey Hart’s group Planet Drum, whose title album won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album in 1991, the first year there was a Grammy in that category. He was also part of Mickey Hart’s latest group Global Drum Project, whose title album won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album at the 51st annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles 8 February 2009.
Recognized for his skills on the talking drum, the master talking drummer is now resident in the United States, where he continues to make music.

LEKAN BABALOLA
Babalola was born in Lagos State, South-Western Nigeria in the 1960s. Where he attended Bishop Oluwole Primary School, Agege for his basic education before advancing to Iwo in Oyo State for his secondary school education. He started playing at an early age, playing the conga at his father's Aladura church and later formed a patchwork band with his peers.
Lekan is a Nigerian afro beat, jazz percussionist. He has seven albums to his name and two Grammy awards. He began his musical career after joining a band called Samba Samba Band and then the New York City-based Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers band, where he mastered playing the Bongo drums and performing jazz music. He later went on to work with notable acts including Prince, Ernest Ranglin, Branford Marsalis, African Jazz All Stars, Roy Ayers, David Byrne, Damon Albarn, Tony Allen amongst others.
He became Nigeria’s first Grammy Award winner in 2006 for his project on Ali Farka Touré‘s In the Heart of the Moon which he was credited in three tracks. He also won a second Grammy in 2009 for his work on Cassandra Wilson‘s 2008 album titled Loverly.

These two were born in Nigeria. Oyo and Lagos state respectively.

You're right, she won it 4 times but she was raised in England. She left Nigeria at age 4.
