Absolutely agree. People are afraid to speak up about this because they don’t want to be banned. Look at the choice of words Justwise has used so far as a moderator. He gets a pass because he holds the power to hide and ban. It is unfair.

People are afraid to speak out but you have being posting including the post you quote still i haven't banned you for speaking out?

Dude to be very honest, someone else needs to ban you too because you are too authoritative and hide comments that disagree with your opinion or belief. You are no different from Danielhouston who you claim does not tolerate divergent opinions NICELY. Chill abeg.

You know that is false, i don't hid or ban people for disagreeing with me or anybody here as long as its on topic and not insulting.

If dare you to point out any body or post i ban or hid unjustly you will never get one.

to hell with him that's Nigeria for us he feels his on top of the world everybody pleaded with him here but his always looking at the bad side of comment haba!! make him go fry fish alone come chop alone nonsense

Were you not the one pleading and begging him to provide you with Asylum information on this thread? You were one of the people asking all the questions and sleeping on this thread. You even cursed people for trying to derail the thread and accused the moderator of supporting the derailers. After getting what you want from the OP it is now “to hell with him”. Some of you need prayers.

Y'all should cut justwise some slack. He's doing a great job in this travel section. He's not 'God's eye' that will be monitoring every single post here... Though not perfect but his work is commendable.
Seems Dan was hellbent on leaving with all the pleas and suggestions to even move the thread to diary section.
No need taking down the thread, the information here is priceless. Thank you Danielhouston and other posters who shared their knowledge.

You have been virtually vocal on this thread and replying everybody when you could just close the thread so we can all move on. No matter how you feel about him or any poster you should not make it personal. You are the moderator and your focus should be on the thread and not the person. You deleted his farewell message and removed the thread. You did not care about those of us that still need the information on this thread. You just took it down out of anger. Thank God it was restored. You also deleted a comment by Munichlover. Your decisions should not be made out of personal prejudice, whether you are disappointed or not. Don’t use your Admin power for personal reasons and feelings about someone. Have a good day.

If we can just read through with open mind and not jump on the bandwagon of “he cannot take different opinion because people disagree with him” we will see that there is more to it. Why did Justwise have to hide many comments if they were just different opinions? Whether we like it or not there was a personal propaganda to chase the OP away. Some even opened a fake account just to attack the op. How can you call it disagreement when they are not offering any information, except to attack him? Same thing has happened on other travel threads. People hide behind different opinion to derail the thread and cause havoc until the op is frustrated. You can disagree without making it hateful. Why did someone have to call him Hitler? I’m just pained because I really enjoyed this thread as a ghost reader. Sigh

I'll miss this thread but Nairaland, like every public forum, has been like this.

I remember a thread in 2011 in the education section, more than 3 consecutive pages of constant abuses and swearing for the OP.

I am not happy with folks criticizing with abuses but at least the OP should be open to the possibility that people will always want to disagree with his views.

The fact that justwise hides so many bad posts show he is trying his best.

The irony of this whole thing is that many of the people criticizing the op, will still come back to read this thread from time to time and take the information they need from it. But now they’ve turned their backs against him. Daniel hoston wherever you are God will continue to bless you. Just know that some of us are eternally thankful for the work you put into this thread for FREE. Anybody hoping to start a thread should learn from this. People will use you to get what they want and throw you away when you are no longer useful to them. Don’t let the praises fool you.

You can dislike Justwise for whatever reason but he's right when he agrees that people have the right to disagree with OP. Initially, he called someone an "ignorant African" because the person slightly disagreed with him regarding racism in Germany even though the person resides there. The belief that everyone will agree with you on a free-to-comment thread doesn't exist. As much as he produced great content, I never liked his attitude towards people who disagreed with him in a logical and coherent approach. Those who insulted or mocked him using Hitler-like posts should be condemned but the belief that only his comments should be revered doesn't hold. At best, move to the diary section.

Unless you are one of those people who believe in free speech, diversity and liberty yet against views different from yours.

The person lives in the US and said he has only visited Germany. He was also not disagreeing about racism in Germany. He was forcing us to believe that the US is not racist and Germany is more racist than US. He also went on a black lives matter rant. You could see that Justwise removed so many of the guy’s comments because he was being rude. Some of you need to be honest. You only choose what you want to see because of how you feel. I did not see you say anything about the people attacking the op including the one that called him Hitler?

I don't want to stress this over but since you quoted me, I'll respond. Check the first three pages, a Nlder - Ugorexi (not too sure it's correct) - explained his own side of racism as a resident in Germany but OP called him an ignorant African. Just like that!

I read it and I’ve followed this thread. Op did not call Ugoerico an ignorant African. Quote the exact comment. The only time he responded to the guy was when the guy came here to brag about his new car and traveling to Cologne for work etc and despise everybody. Go and read it again.

People are telling lies here to prove their point. Justwise should unhide the comments so we can see what really went down. Yes I am a supporter and if people can criticize him, I can defend him.

For Daniel Houston to get worked up by a faceless forum shows that nairaland is not for him.

People that don't like divergent views or want their opinions to be accepted without confrontation don't life up to their full potentials. They are people pleasers.

Not giving 2 flying fvcks is what makes you an adult.

Good riddance

@Justwise I have nothing against you and I commend the job you do here. But I believe in due process. Everybody should have a chance to a defense. You removed the op’s final message but you left the comments of other people who are expressing their disappointment in him. If someone comes to this thread and just reads the last few comments, they’d think he was indeed a terrible person. You did not give him a chance to say what he wanted to say and clear his name before he left. Was he always right? No. But let us stick to transparency and not prejudice.

Some people carry these matter for head sha, the op has made his choice, choosing his PEACE over the criticism ....
Lol But somepips are still so pained as if (he/her) destiny or success aboard rests on the op's shoulder.
At least we all have learnt a lot from the op's POV, the only thing we owe the op now, is to weigh (tread)and put all we learnt from his experience to work, that way we are showing him his efforts ain't in VAIN and how GRATEFUL we are.

Crying all over and blaming justwise isn't wise, if what made you open this thread was information sake...at least you can't denia the fact that you haven't pick one or two info since page 1 of these thread till now, even from most of the criticism, I learnt something from them. Knowledge is built upon knowledge(lol we can't philosophize in a vaccum), you claim to be an aspiring immigrant yet your comments lack a research inclinced mentality/response, how you won take survive for foreign land as an alien then?
The "critics" did a bad job there, you stated your point at first you were attacked, you do am again you were attacked then you fought back, you shouldn't have as the op is lord over his thread in a way since he created the thread himself, you could have just bow out, simple(the op not wanting contrary opinion to his is another thing sha, he might be new to the workings/doings of NL. who knows). LIFE NO HARD!!!!

To people attacking justwise, do you know how many threads are in the travel section that he moderates every single day, how long or short his breaks maybe, he is not omnipresent na and most times a post may escape his attention I have been in travel land for years(my first account included) I haven't reach the end of travel land, ..though he may have his own problems he need to work on, agreed, but, cut the guy some slack biko..we are matured here.
Loling, aswear Most of you no go fit survive for some thread on reddit oo..
To some people!!! the exposure you gained here (if any at all) plus research(es) you will make on other website/thread is enough enlightenment to aid in processing your trip aboard, if you put two and two together, reason am.
LIFE NO HARD no use your hand make am hard for yaself!!!
