bsalva: We all know they are however, the discrimination is uncalled for. Graduates of each should know their role and act in their capacity. Unfortunately, ours is a class society and we put that into all. |

These guys are missing it, monotechnics and polytechnics were designed to bridge the nations technical gap, they were not intended to sit on desks and compete with university graduates. Blame the emphasis on certificates rather than competence for this problem. If every school becomes a university who will fix our cars, roads, man our tech drive? Foreigners from other countries who education is less than our HND. We must learn to prioritize competence and practical knowledge over certificates and certification. An expert is an expert because they know their onions not because of certificates and membership to some bogus association that just collects membership fees and does nothing to improve competence of its members. The proliferation of many so called professional bodies in the country proves this. All talk and no do. 1 Like 1 Share |

salbis: What do you mean? Can’t be compared how? Why won’t they opt for the university if you people were not feeling you are better than them. It’s because of the same discrimination that makes them opt for the university. I bet you if the dichotomy stops I tell you the table will turn around. You’ll see how many people will opt for the university. Nobody will look at the university two times. Let’s be honest to ourselves. I attended both. So I’ve seen what both looks like. You can’t stand a polytechnic graduate in his field. |

quentin06:You are so wrong, u have no idea, hnd holders are technologist not artisans. When the degree guys do the theorical design, the hnd guys are the ones that check if the design is actually practicable n also build the design. Hnd holder are not made to repair but build. But in Nigeria today no one design no one build. Secondly there's really no need for hnd. We have universities of technology which teach exactly what is been taught in polytechnic and they award btech. So the hnd thing should just be scrape, it's really of no use. |

Dminister: Oga I did my waec once and I had 6 credits , 1 A,2Bs and 1E in economics My first jamb attempt I had 245 but I'm still in poly. Looking at your result which you went through RIGOROUS stress to get you're not in any way better than me. Some People end up in poly not because they have low marks ,some are victims of this Nepotism filled system I know this equality thing might take time or may not happen , but your acclaimed result is poor Rigorous stress because of five credit ? 1 Like |

Morrison91: You're talking in the rubbish. If you got to a company before another employee, you have to teach them on the job. Even you were at some point taught on the job. Fresh graduates don't know anything before their first jobs. It's worse from the polytechnic because the practical that goes on there is a big hoax. 1 Like |

afonjabreed: Okay, I am replying to this very late because I am a very busy person. I expected someone to quote me, but, I didn't have the chance to check and reply the same time. I hope you digested your quotes very well before you posted your conclusions. As for your understanding, I gave an example, as in an illustrations why BSC and HND can't be rated the same. There is no where I mentioned I have five credit passes. I have seen the reason why many polytechnic graduates lack understanding a simple theory. For the fact that you have already made your conclusions, I expect you to place a clause on the subject matter that I am better than you. Did you ask yourself why our educational system requires one to have minimum of five credit passes per university's entry requirements and why the polytechnics entry requirements is minimum of four credit passes? You were aware of the discrepancy before you chose to get HND, Why are you competing with BSC holders and protesting for equality? This is just a feeling of inferiority. It is absolutely not normal. You wanted HND to protest for BSC and HND equality later? This is just an example of students trying to pass exam through the backdoor. There is always a scale of preference. You either choose the first one or the last one, you can as well have both results. You guys should stop trying to force what can never be. If you wants BSC you can go get it. Why disturbing the polity? The system is filled with too many problems already. It would be unfair to be expecting university Diploma holders to start protesting for Diploma and HND equality too. I want you to know 6 credit passes is still average result considering five credit passes a poor result. |

ibuildstuff: Sorry the HND system didnt teach you use of English. An artisan doesn't have a college degree, give an artisan a degree he as good as any graduate. BTW there is nothing wrong with artisans, most of them own businesses and employ graduates like you. Many of your female colleagues open their legs wide for artisans than they do for PhD blokes. |
Re: HND Holders Threaten Industrial Action, Lament Discrimination by afonjabreed(m): 3:01pm On Aug 30, 2020 |
Dminister: Oga I don't know about other polytechnics but the Federal polytechnic I attend doesn't accept four credits . You can check it out yourself (Federal Polytechnic Ede) . With what you wrote I can see that you are the one who lacks understanding , I'm still an OND and I'm planning on running a direct entry after OND. What I was trying to correct about your impression was the fact that you thought people who attend university had better results than those who attend polytechnic. I could have gotten into FUOYE without stress but that university isn't worth it.... As long as collar jobs are still certificate oriented I know they cannot be equal . 2 Likes |

My point what that BSC design while hnd build what the bsc has design not repair. Am not trying to belittle anyone here, I don't think I even insulted u in my post. |
