is it true that Nigerians can't get work as a new visa applicant from naija currently? I have somebody who want to travel for work but he is scared because of this news.Someone over there said nothing like that in Dubai, please what your advice.
I am not so current about happenings in the job market. However, I think it’s common sense, job opportunities have reduced significantly across board. If the person has the chance to come in, he can come and try his luck, which, for obvious reason, is very low.
I really don’t want to give comment on the visa issues, as it affects Nigerians who are fresh applicants. All I know is that Nigerians with expired resident visas are getting their visas renewed.

I’m not ruling out the possibility of securing jobs in Dubai. You can still secure good jobs. I was only trying to let you know that the chances are less at this time due to obvious reason. More so, the jobseeker is even still in Nigeria, no visa yet.
Your guy in Dubai may/may not be telling you the truth especially if he’s the one you’ll be handing your money to, for visa processing. Besides, the fact that he’s not affected doesn’t mean that many people didn’t lose their jobs or asked to go on compulsory leave.
I wasn’t affected either but many people were.
Make I drop mic.

Actually I know two ladies who got jobs but their individual companies were not able to process their visa. The excuse was that there is currently a ban on Nigeria visa. 3 days ago, I heard about people collecting police report in Dubai to process the visa, I told one of the lady who is a flatmate, however ,when she called the Arbab, she told her they should also try it , but alas it wasn't successful either. The lady works there but they hide them from Baladiyya every time .

Not yet. One can not rely on what people say for now. A Nigerian just joined my company. So, our PRO should initiate his contract/visa processes soon. I would wait for the outcome.

On the issue of residence visas, Nigeria is currently on visa hold[restriction] both for fresh inside country and outside country visas.. Please for those of you who are new to this trend or intend to come in to the UAE at the moment. I would advise you to hold on for now until this diplomatic issue is sorted out. Don't fall victim of fraudsters who call themselves agent. They are part of the reasons why Nigeria passport is on visa restrictions, this is aside other negative issues leveled against Nigerians here. These agents are so desperate that they are looking for some gullible Nigerians to fraud even with the negative image Nigeria is currently having with the UAE.
Those currently in the country are praying for a quick resolution to the current diplomatic issue Nigerians are facing with the UAE government.
Please be wise.

Hmmmmm, the problem is not so much the Nigerian B.Sc or certificate as the Nigerian passport. Let's understand that 2020 has not been very easy due to the pandemic, lockdowns and all. Even the postponement of Expo 2020 was a big setback for jobs and co.

The point of the first page of this thread, the point of MOE, MOFA and embassy attestations all show that the certificate is relevant. Nothing wrong with the certificate in getting employment. The main issue is the passport. It makes it quite difficult these days. We cannot shy away from the truth that we have Nigerians with Nigerian certificates working in different industries in the UAE. Health, Education, Hospitality, Engineering, I.T, Oil and Gas etc. Just like in Nigeria, some people's certificate is more useless than newspaper hand fan either because they are simply unemployable or they are not well organised. It is not because it is Nigerian certificate but the person himself or herself.

The competition is real and harder at this point in time as many have warned. But you will miss or not be considered for employment because you can't speak Hindi or Arabic, or because you are Nigerian, or because you don't have gulf experience. But it rarely because your certificate is Nigerian. I stand strongly to be corrected sha.

No Gulf or Arab countries can be compared to the UAE.

Like China in Asia like the UAE in the Gulf Arab

Hello Good people,

I am an experienced finance professional who currently works in oil and gas industry in Nigeria as the Chief Financial officer of a servicing firm.

I recently updated my resume and profile on Naukri gulf, and have been contacted by several recruiters from Dubai, Oman and Qatar. An oil and construction group of companies called Brason Gulf construction and Petroleum services recently contacted me via same channel to share my updated CV with them. The HR manager reached out to me to fill employment questionnaire. He passed my CV and all credentials to his HR team for review and promised that if I meet their requirements, they will make me an offer.

Yesterday, they came back to me with a job offer and assigned a travel agent to process my travel visas if I accept their job offer. They have given me contact of their appointed travel agency to contact to handle my work visa. See details of the travel agency attached.

They said I will be paid my first month salary before I depart Nigeria.

Please, help me to confirm the authenticity of this offer so that I will not resign my job here in Nigeria for what I am not sure of. Although I want to earn in Dollars, I am not desperate as God's chosen time for me will come.

You have to tread with caution. There are many RED FLAGS in your story.

1. Filling of employment questionnaire without direct interview even with Skype, Zoom etc is a red flag.

2. A job offer? Were you given a signed and stamped letter of appointment boldly written in your name? Even if you were given, there are greater chances that it might be fake.

3. You would be paid first salary before leaving Nigeria? Are you kidding me? Which company does that?

4. They don't need a travel agency to process your Work Permit. The HR department is solely responsible for that.

5. There is no Visa issuance to Nigerians FOR NOW until further notice.

If you truely want to earn in Dollars, plan your way to Canada or USA not UAE.

Summary: Don't resign your good job in Nigeria for a job you are not sure of in UAE, your chances of success are limited because of your nationality than your competence.

Thanks so much for your counsel. As you noted, the HR could have simply arranged my work visa, rather than outsourcing it to travel agent.

I was particularly looking through where they will ask me to pay a fee, but they have not come out yet.

Looks like an organized scam but just tag along till they unwrap their format.
Take a seat, fold your arms and watch the next line of action.
It's a process, the billing would surely come later on.
