You have said it all. Business, business, business, not everyone is cut out for that, lets say the truth. A few folks need the salary work, and they can eke out their own prosperity from there. Even skill acquisition is not the lot of everyone, those useless excuses should stop. I know of some guys who just love the teaching profession and may not do well in other fields. I remember in those days my company wooed a lecturer to become the personnel manager with a good salary, but he couldn't stay, he went back to teaching, this may sound funny, but this a true life experience. He confessed that his professional satisfaction was compromised if it was no teaching. So i agree with you, those who can do business should go ahead, the environment itself is terrible for business, i am told you need to learn to cut corners, not everyone can do that too. The truth is most gradustes are not ready to start small, they prefer to beg,becomes liability to their parents, two months after my service , i couldn't get a reasonable job, all i got was security job of 25k, in the place i worked i was the only graduate, i was working and searching praying for a better job, i put in my very best even those who didnt have Olevel where not as hardworking as i was, i later disclose my qualifications because of a vacancy in the same place, the management assured me, but wasnt too long i got another offer, a better one that when i went for the interview the HR and interviewers asked the office assistant to bring air freshener, by the way i was welcomed i became scared whether they were scammers but i summond courage then i knew it was my job. today am practicing my profession, I swallowed my pride , i read a professional course, a course that almost evry month u see job openings . i graduated with a 2.1 too, now i have messenger, cleaner and securities around in my office,

For a good half of my University Education my results were woeful. It didn't deter me, as I was sure that in the emerging global economy paper certificate held no water. While many sought to scorn me, I was 10years ahead of my times in terms of wisdom.

Today it's the flip side, those who held tightly to 1st class and second class degrees are either scouting to be drivers for those who don't have a certificate or burning their hard earned degree in frustration.

It's the new world. The value of sound Education cannot be overestimated but what sound education was yesterday is entirely different from what it is today. True Education lies in imbibing mental, social, and manual skills to navigating the emerging economy, and developing sufficient fluidity to adapt to changing dynamics especially we cross between different micro and macrocultures

Chai.....What a country? I keep educating people on the misconception they developed about certificate. Your certificate is just a testimonial that you have attained a level of learning irrespective of the knowledge you have acquired. It is not something to be celebrated cos it is just a paper, but unfortunately, people do or manner of things both legitimate and illegitimate to get such paper. I am not saying it's wrong to acquire one cos I have mine well filed, but don't allow the mere paper to deceive you, ur grade not withstanding. As for the Op, there is no need auctioning or burning ur certificate as it could be beneficial tomorrow. Just file it very well in a safe place and go out and learn a skill or business that will take u to financial security.
