Dead wrong. Scouts scout both youth and senior team players. So with 50 something scouts you expect Ole and his few managers to be training the senior team and still be closely watching leagues all round the world?

Ole might notice a number of players in the international stage but the person whose primary duty it is to bring players (both youth and senior) to the attention of the manager is the scout.

That is how we got Forlan, Chicharito, Vidic and several others.

Stats for last season’s strikers..

Players below the yellow line outperformed their xG in general, but on a per 90min basis, it looks different for some.

The farther and lower a player is on the graph proves how dangerous he was in the final third last season.

Take note of Greenwood & Martial & Rashford.

We still have Ighalo, Rashford too can play as the CF...Even Greenwood.

The areas we have deficiency is the RWF where bar Greenwood, no one has done a decent job there.

Another area of concern is the LB position because you can't trust Shaw to keep fit over a season.

Then you have our CB position where it appears we have bodies but a critical looks shows we have just 2 CBs, the rest spend more time in the hospital than Afrodoc...

I really don't see CDM as a big problem, Matic can guarantee us half a season while Fred/McSauce can hold brief for another half...

The scouts are about their own, the scout for players all around... the summits the list of players they deem fit for the club to the manager. The manager, Ole acesses 'em and chooses from the list and then submits to the board who then signs for him and the team.

e.g is Upamecano, Pau Torres and the Monaco guy for the LCB... Ole chose Upamecano instead. Pau as close second. On the RW, the scouts gave him Douglas Costa, the fiorentina guy, Sancho, torres, and Coman.. He chose Sancho instead for his own reasons..


What I am saying is that, the manager is hell bent on getting Sancho as his RW option. He did same with Bruno. Our scoutsgot him options but he chooses the one he prefers.

Even this VDB we just signed was first noticed by OLE back in 2015, when his team Molde FC met Ajax in Europa League.

Last season, Rashford, Martial and Greenwood showed that they have the ability to put up trophy winning numbers and it can only get better with them playing together more and with more experience...

We really missed goals and assist from other areas of the pitch and that's where Fernandez comes in. I reckon if we had started the season with him and Pogba, we'd have won more matches and scored more than we did.

Ole should bring in an attacking left back that offers something similar to what you get from Robertson and Trent at Liverpool just to stretch teams because most teams began overloading their midfield when they discovered our main threat came from the middle with Bruno...

Lastly, we need our defenders to pop in with the odd goal here and there...

Thanks for clarifying for this again. The scouts are doing their job so well. Our manager chooses who he wants in a particlar position. He has the final say in our transfer dealings bar the negotiations and financial aspect. Thats why the board aren't really bothered about gettn a DOF

Exactly...Ighalo is with us until January, when he leaves, we can get a replacement who will compete with Martial or make do with Greenwood...

Ole should allow players compete for their place in the team, that excuse of not trusting in his bench won't suffice this season as it has been overused. Lampard didn't hesitate to drop Kepa for Caballero, Abraham for Giroud and so many others.

Why did we make a move to keep Ighalo if Ole won't trust him? There was even a time Ighalo had things going for him but Ole wasn't fair enough to allow him compete with Martial.

The same thing he did with Romero and DDG...

I hope Ole changes this season, DDG should work hard to keep his place or Henderson should replace him. Same goes for the midfield where McSauce, Fred and Matic should be made to earn their place in the team just as Pogba and Fernandez should know that any slip up will see VDB replace them.

It's a pity Ole doesn’t count on Dalot though however, for the sake of competition, give Dalot a chance to make that position his own.

Players should earn their place in the starting line up rather than be assured of their place irrespective of their performance...

You mentioned players we already know, except Pau Torres for me.

When we ask if the scouts are actually functional, this is what we mean.
1. Chicharito - from Guadalajara
2. Vidic - from Spartak Moscow
3. RVN - from PSV
4. VDS - from Fulham

Even VDB was already scouted by Kagawa years ago, before the UCL madness cheesy grin

BVB want to be guaranteed a payment of total €120M.
They will accept the €120M in installments over 3 years.

They do not accept addons (performance related), since they are not guaranteed money from addons

United was willing to pay €100M + €20M in addons.
BVB is then only guarateed €100M with a change of getting another €20M if Sancho achieves his performance goals.
Addons is a set amount after X amount of matches, X amount of goals, United winning PL, United winning CL etc.

BVB will not negotiate and have a set price at €120M.
They have also told Sancho that he will be allowed to leave if the bid at €120M is submitted. Not mentioned any deadline other than 5th of October.

Staff still believes a bid will be made this week. Final decision by Joel.
