Hello everyone. Maximum greetings and respect to all the riders here. You are all doing a great job.

I am thinking of going into uber on a hire purchase deal. I already have a sponsor, but it's my first time so I came here to ask a few questions. I hope you all will be kind enough to oblige me.

1. As a rider in Lagos, how much can I conveniently make daily? And also how much can I make if I decide to work extra hard? In other words, Average to maximum?

2. Will it be okay for me to use a 2007-2009 Corolla for it? Will it be good maintenance wise? Especially when I still need to remit to my sponsor weekly? Or should I stick to the usual 2004 corolla?

3. How much should I plan on remitting weekly to my sponsor? An amount where I can conveniently pay promptly without issues, and still make something for myself would be most appreciated.

Also, further tips on what to do and expect would be most appreciated. Thank you all in advance. Great job guys

Let's assume I'm driving in from ozumba Mbaduwe and heading towards Dmatel hotel, oniru. Is it one way like that?
What if I'm coming from Oniru mosque and headed towards palace road , turning in . Is that one way? Northbird, abeg use my scenario explain clearly. E no clear as you describe am so.
That place used to be my hideout for long trips every evening.

What I'm saying is.

You can only enter Oniru from Ozumba lane heading towards the lekki toll gate, you can't enter from Ozumba lane facing Falomo Bridge.

All the roads that form a perimeter around Four points Hotel are one way drives. That means if you are on that road, you can't make a U turn on same road n face the opposite direction.

Signs are there, it's not yet updated on Google map. So d heads up is for guys who r not familiar wt d new devpt.

Before Gmap leads one into... grin

1. As a beginner, expect to average 5-10k for the first two weeks, then as you progress, you’ll learn and come up with strategies to boost your earnings. These days, it’s not about working hard, using your head is a better option.

2. Any option you eventually choose is good although the 09 won’t be bad but I can’t say the same to your finances lol. The corolla is a durable vehicle. If it’s a foreign used car, please stick to manufacturer’s recommended engine oil and service promptly.

3. As a total jew, you need to dialogue with your intended partner to allow for some laxity in payment for at least 2 weeks(if you a fast learner) then from there you guys can agree on a fixed amount (industry price is 20-30k weekly)

4. You also need to be sharp and calm. Try as much as possible not to loose your guard when driving or parked waiting for trips.

5. You will learn other things as you progress in the hustle.

If you are coming from Lekki phase 1, immediately after you pass the toll gate is the left turning to prince Yusuf Abiodun road, you can no longer make a left turning to connect with that road you have to go further down to use Bishop Aboyade Cole road or make a u-turn at the traffic light there and go back to make a right turning to enter the prince xXXXX road.

Picture 1. For people coming from Ligali Ayorinde to connect Four Point, do not turn left, follow the lane marking!

2. Traffic from Prince Yusuf after the Chicken republic turning at Four point, again follow the lane making.

3. One Way sign opposite Four Point, you can’t miss it.

4. There’s a right turning at Land bridge Ave that leads to Palms Shopping mall/oniru shoprite. When you are coming back from shoprite at this intersection, do not turn left, continue straight to go link Lekki-Epe.

At Maryland, I received a trip request from cantoment, the Soldier man was standing by the gate already to take me in to his house, at that point, I knew he wanted to carry load. When we got to his house, Lo and behold,,, this bike was lying on the floor with some other stuff... I immediately told him I cannot carry them and cancelled instantly. Thereafter, I received another request in the same cantoment ( A Female) Guys, can you imagine that by the time I drove past the man's house, I saw another Corolla assisting the man to lift the bike into his boot. ......... interestingly, my rider needed to use the bank, so they caught up with us and we were literally going on the same route before we parted ways... So sad how some guys ridicule us ... ‍♂️

Continue living in denial.

I have a driver that was with me from 2017 to 2019, he introduce his friend to me, his friend pleaded for hp, after working with me for couple of months, i agreed, today his friend is a car owner.

He started misbehaving in 2019, feeling down, if he had known, i retrieve my car immediately.

Wake up, alot of drivers are becoming car owner through ho.
hello boss. I am a jew who would want to go into HP with someone and I need to have an idea of what it entails. What type of car do you put on HP, how long does it last and how much does it cost in total for an intending driver. I need this info so I can properly negotiate with the partner I intend going into business with. Thanks a lot

I think I am being misunderstood.

I am not saying HP is bad. All I'm saying is that everybody should know his/her life plan before deciding to drive for two years.

I have plans for my life, and driving 6 days a week for the next two years, just to own a car (18 year old) is not in it. If Abakaliki boys have that planned out, it's fine. In all, we all pray to be successful and not a nuisance to the society.

People advice people to take HP over rentals, and I see it as wrong.

Let the person evaluate his life, and see if he can dedicate such period for it. If not, take rentals and walk away whenever you want.

That's my point

I have been reading your posts, and i am very impressed at your thoughtfulness, sir. I really love the perspective you are bringing to this Rental-HP comparison.

I have been a fan of HP, but from your contributions, i think i have been looking at it from the angle of the owner-partner and situation of the car alone. The driver-partner deserves some consideration as well, just like you have said.

I think a middle ground should be preached instead. Driver contracts with owner on a rental basis, but with the possibility of ownership of car through HP if he is consistent with payment remittances.

As much as the e-hailing venture could be thought of as a transient hustle for most people at the onset, but time flies and sometimes things dont go as planned. So, a middle ground arrangement could be useful in helping the driver move on if his other plans click or acquire the car if things dont go according to plan. Either way, it is a win-win for both parties.

What do you guys think? I am really learning here.
