Long before Dangote got his license to build a refinery, the govt was literally begging local and foreign investors to come take licenses and build refineries. Several people took those licenses but ended up building storage tank farms just to import fuel. Dangote took a bold step by delving into the uncharted territory of building a private refinery; he hasnt even completed it but here you are, already hating on him for being a monopoly? Was it Dangote that stopped others from building refineries? Wow! Humans are indeed amazing!

Something similar happened for cement and sugar. There was a govt policy (I think it was called 'import substitution') which gave import licenses only to businesses that had shown capacity or intent to produce the imported goods locally in Nigeria... Whilst other businesses were busy importing, Dangote was busy developing his cement factories simultaneously. And now we want to blame Dangote for being serious and focused?
