someone please help. Mr ednut1 kindly help please

Try using another bank card (doubt that would work because most banks have the same limit).

Your options: open a dorm account and use the card to pay or get someone(Trusted) in Canada to pay for you and refund them in Naira.

There’s also dollar cards floating around that you can sign up for and use to pay. I don’t remember the names right now but i’ll update if i do.

Hello Everyone,

Please I would like to confirm, if graduates from National Open University are eligible to apply for Express Entry? Has any one from National Open Uni applied and it didn’t work or does anyone know someone who has?

Please I need an urgent response as the information I got this evening is making me sick. Thank you

I believe NOUN graduates are able to apply for EE as long as it’s a degree or masters or PGD. WES evaluates so panic not.

Also it might be worth sharing the information you got (if it’s relevant) and we (part 10 occupiers)can point you in the right direction.

A friend that is familiar with visa/immigration stuff just told me that even if WES evaluates my certificate, that when it’s time for me to apply for Express Entry that my degree from NOUN will be be rated as Zero. My heart fell into my stomach for a second and then he added ‘ Dont waste your money and dash WES’ bcoz WES is just a company on its own even if the evaluate my certificate but if I don’t believe him, I should go and try and then come back to give him d feedback.

I was gonna try to see if I could apply for My Masters in Canada so while WES evaluates my certificate and I prepare for IELTS, let me see if I can even get admission and study Visa before applying for EE and he was like No school would give me admission with my NOUN certificate except maybe community colleges .

I got this information this evening and I haven’t been myself since then

do not give ignorant people the opportunity to drive you nuts. In part 3 or part 4 there was a lady who used noun masters and nysc experience and has been in canada since 2018. The reason why ircc nominated wes and other is to certify and give equivalency. Tell that person he lacks sense grin

My dear do not panic. Your NOUN degree is very valid and will be evaluated. Carry on and ignore shallow minded people. If i were you, i would ignore future advice from this friend regarding immigration matters

Please a quick one for lawyers who aren’t into litigation and work with State or federal government agencies , what NOC suits the job description the most because 4112 or so doesn’t suit my job description as I don’t work in a firm and neither do I take on those responsibilities listed.
I work in The capacity of an in house lawyer but I’ve not come across any NOC that fits My job description up to 70 percent or even 80 percent at all , I’ve tried to use all sorts of words in the search box embarassed
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by Naaomi(f): 9:20pm On Sep 17, 2020
Try NOC 4211 and see if it's a fit - Paralegal and other related occupations.
Some in house lawyers have also used 4112 so they can guide too. Hopefully they see your post.

2: Do you mean gaining siblings point from your brother in law and your wife isn’t accompanying. I’m not sure you can gain the 15points except your wife is accompanying. NB: ‘I’m not sure’

Please confirm before you claim the 15 points
Mrsc22:
I hope you realise that your POF is still going to be for your complete family even if they are not accompanying you.

Yea, i think you can still use your brother in law. You can state she has something tying her here: career or business.

Hello everyone, Great job on the write ups and tips it has been really enlightening.

I have 2 questions please,

1. I received my ITA yesterday but didn't include my wife and son as that would have dropped my score and the money to move once no be here, but I added them to my application as not accompanying, now I'm being asked why, is it safe to say lack of funds or a more diplomatic excuse? Pls anyone with experience should help as I'm in uncharted waters.

2.Can a brother in law stand as a relative when the wife is included in the application but not accompanying.

Thanks once again.

Points for siblings in Canada
You can now earn 15 additional points if you (or your spouse or common-law
partner who will come with you to Canada)
have a brother or sister who is:
living in Canada and
a citizen or permanent resident of Canada
To get these points, the brother or sister must also be
18 years old or older
related by blood, marriage, common-law partnership or adoption
have a parent in common

I hope this helps.

The willingness to do extensive research by oneself is highly important and should not be taken for granted.
There is so much to learn on threads like this on Nairaland.

Honestly it’s tiring. The average person would rather type and wait for answers rather than actually read.

Thanks. I knew I’ve seen a similar case before. Guys please if you are claiming siblings point from an in law , it’s very important your spouse is accompanying.

i am an in-house lawyer in a federal agency. I used 4112.
Ensuring correct legal content of documents. This includes drafting and review of agreements/MOUs between my organization and third parties
- Representung the agency in court and ensuring diligent prosecution of all legal suits affecting the agency
-Negotiating out-of-court settlements to reduce litigation costs
-Advisingthe agency's Management on the application of laws, public service rules and régulations
-Attending to the agency's correspondences on legal matters.
-conducting legal research to détermine appropriate course of action in legal matters.

You will notice i captured most of the keywords mentioned in requirements for noc 4112 and it worked.

Awwwwww. Yes oooo. Nice to connect with you here. I didn't know i would need this PR thing, would have done it since before the 30's age. I don't have a sibling in canada only a cousin
Husband is writing ielts too and still our score isn't up to the 470s. Infact i tire. And i was advised when this canada thing started to try it o, i was forming. Its well. Lets hope the scores reduces sha.

I'll try to get the funds and still apply as it is because changing to accompanying will reduce CRS since wifey hasn't done eca or ielts.

Thanks a lot to everyone. God bless us all and make our dreams come true.

P.S I'll update how I eventually proceed here. Once again, thanks my people!
Dimple10:

Unfortunately you cannot claim single while married. It’ll be seen as misrepresentation which can result in a 5year ban

My advice: Consider changing to accompanying spouse, find a way to get the money even if you have to borrow. Let it come through any of your parents or parent in-laws, get a gift deed, apply and return the money.

Also your brother inlaw can give you extra 15points If he already had PR so take advantage of that.

Things will get better, be hopeful.

Not going with your wife also means minus 15 points from the CRS point calculated to get your ITA because you cannot claim her brother’s point if she’s not accompanying.

Please read CIC website carefully before you proceed. All the best

You are welcome. For legal opinion you can put that under that 4th point. Just add "This includes providing legal opinion on sundry legal issues as required."

The offer letter can come under the 4th point. Just add offer letters after mou.

Secretary during bid meetings should come last as it's not one of the duties listed in the noc requirements

Please ensure you retain these keywords "Representing, Advising, Drafting, Legal research, Negotiating, legal opinion". They want to see them in your letter

I think you might need to decline the ITA to avoid stories that touch, except if your score minus 15 points is still within the cut off mark that gave you the ITA. It is better you do right than to spend money and time.

My two cent opinion.

If your wife can add more points to you via ielts and/or ECA, why not calm down and explore that and then you can still add 15 points from BIL

Just make sure you are doing it right! This journey requires patience.
All the best.

Hopefully it will reduce , it has been reducing so let’s hope it keeps reducing. If you can learn French And take the exams that’ll be an advantage too.

I’ll say get in the pool once your eca & IELTS on both sides are in , so at least if points go lower than 470 you’re selected.
