Let me be clear, I am not holding brief for the police or SARS but I know what priorities are.

Permit me to say, you are a bit out of touch with the realities on our roads. Anyone who has ever had an encounter with those animals won't downplay the importance of these protests.

This is a battle for the lives of the Nigerian youth. Our survival and very existence is being threatened by the actions of this killer squad. It's bad enough that the government has failed us, do we now have to suffer at the hands of those meant to protect us?

So now that people are more afraid of SARS than armed robbers what is now their use? When was the last time you heard SARS foiled any robbery attack. Where have you heard police checking people's phones and marching them to ATM points? Not even in war-torn Syria

One problem at a time. This SARS is the most pressing and important one right now. Any country where youths are more scared of police than thieves is a failed one. SARS attack everyone both the employed, unemployed and underemployed. They attack males and females. Local and expats.

I personally do think that after all these protests which has even attracted foreign attention and news agencies like BBC and CNN, things will never be the same for the SARS agents. they are bound to be reformed.

Well said. Wish Nigerian youths could protest against the deep issues affecting the country, such as corruption, extremely high cost of governance (salaries of Nigerian senators and reps especially), high level of unemployment, the same way we're addressing this SARS issue.

In one way or the other, these are core issues that gave rise to societal ills like this SARS menace.

But sadly, Nigerians are docile.

Earnestly hope these protests will yield something good and help reform the police.

(Though personally, I'm yet to see Buhari's leadership demonstrate any strong will to tackle the SARS menace head-on.)

SARS is the lowest hanging fruit that even this government with it's relentless incompetence should be able to resolve. We have already established that every other thing you listed above its beyond it's pay grade

We already know they have no plans for the economy, health, education or employment but at the very least they can End SARS.
