The cons has always been that State Police in the hands of our desperate politicians can be fatal but we can’t shy away from the pros which far outweigh the cons.

The first step is to have a new Police Act which will decentralize policing to the state and community level. Let every state and community police themselves. We have seen that this is possible with rrslagos.

Many fears is that won’t the state be owing them salaries has state government are notorious for owing salaries. An underfunded police is dangerous not to talk of one that his salary is not forthcoming.

The structure of state policing is there, our lawmakers are just sleeping on their jobs or they don’t know what to do.

You root out issues once and for all and not papering over the cracks. There are a lot of things that need to change about the Police force. It’s not just about SARS alone, it’s about the whole police force as a whole.

Unless this momentum will be kept, The police reform we will get will be nothing to write home about.

Issues must be addressed as a whole. Those even shooting protesters are not even sars operatives. They are normal police. The one that shot Jimoh in ogbomosho is not a SARS operative.

We wait and see what happens in the following weeks and months.

It's not news that police are one of the most corrupt organisations in the world. Even countries with high standard and we'll funded police deal with them.

At least regular police arrest actua petty l offenders and negotiate bribe with them, which by the way is not only a Nigerian thing.

But when you have a certain police unit (SARS) who are meant to prevent violent crimes, abandon their duties and start commiting the crimes themselves, extorting people and killing those who can't pay them. Then it's no longer a regular bribe collecting police , it's now terrorism. They are terrorising people and need to be removed from the system
