@Mailthaddeus.. Thanks chief. It's actually for Feb intake and I've already initiated the application process, was informed by JCU representative that it's no longer possible to apply directly, you'll have to go through one of their authorised agents (went for expert education africa), so that's what I did.

That's 100% true. .. I agree with you.

Essentially, when coming,plan ahead.

Even so, qyou get a job 3 weeks after you come, you need to generate an average of 11,000 for your 2nd semester tuition and for you to be able to work effectively, you would need a car.
Since its your first job, they require you to work on most jobs mornings which clashes with your class schedules. So it put more pressure on you and your academics in the first 2 or so months.

I am saying all this for some of you to have that mental picture and be able to plan ahead knowing this before hand and to be able to creatively find a solution if there's one. Not necessarily to discourage ...general awareness.
Many like me have passed through this hurdles before and doing much better now.

Thanks for this input. Some people think getting money is as easy as filling their water bottle.
When I landed I had no accommodation waiting for me. No food and no clothes. grin That one is story for another day(unfortunately it was during the winter season too) and with a tuition fee of almost 17k per semester. It wasnt an ideal situation for anyone to be in.

Nice feedback!!

No one is saying the process is gonna be Easy but it's definitely gonna be worth it at the end.

Information is key and like I always say "One of the central ideas of learning (academic culture) is that Knowledge develops through debate and arguments"

Ciao!

I hope you listened to ScoMo updates and that of the Treasurer. grin cheesy Australians first

I received multiple offers that I stopped counting after sometimes but unfortunately since I hadn't purchased a car. I heard the annoying "sorry undecided

Lol yes, the Treasurer is my namesake. I have the full video on my phone.

It's basically taking huge loans to fund the budget and Economy/Job recovery just like our Buhari and Nigeria Economy.

Honestly, this white folks are not doing anything special, it's just that they value life and property, and there is accountability and the right data in place to ensure each input yield a satisfactory output.

Scot Morrison update should not deter anyone who has a means to come to Australia.
The average Australian is lazy and prefers to get relief packages from the government. Health care is free for them and they even get rental supports, therefore some would rather not work. During these Covid times, many people are getting jobs. It's all there in job sites, and u will definitely get something to do. And studies is arranged in such a way that it won't clash with ur work. Cos no one except u not to work while studying. So ignore those comments about job losses and look at the positive side. It's not gonna be easy, but at the end, it would be worth it.

I used to believe this @ bolded but things aren't always black and white. Nevertheless you are right, people are getting jobs even during this time.

I also read that SA will welcome 300 students soon by next month and then other international students depending on the nature of their courses but they will give preference to courses that are practical oriented ooh,so pls lets just be positive atleast from now till dec, anything can happen as there is presently a serious pressure from Vice chancellors of universities in australia to allow thier international students to come in,

It's time you stop hoping and praying and just read the facts, Australian boarders won't open to students unless there's a vaccine, and I mean real top notch vaccine. The prayer is to hope it comes out early January or February so that by then or at least June, the broader exception will be provided for international students. That is the only way it would open.
Also the US elections is playing politics with the vaccine, so after election hope dey

Australia is one hell(used here as a glossary intensifier) of a country but that does not mean we should look at the facts and loose hope.

UK, Ireland are seeing a spike in new cases and their boarder is still open to international students even Canada will be opening her boarder later this month.

I must admit the facts are more glaring cause a glance at the past(few months back) will show how Scott even declined Australia citizens and Pr that are offshore from coming back to their country to be with their family during the global lockdown but the boarder is presently open to them now in batches.

What's even worse is some state boarders are even closed to other states from entry within the same Australia and the stubborn Scott was even furious with the premier of Queensland recently and requesting for the boarder to be open to inter state entry.

Australia government is taking this covid-19 stuff very serious and most of her citizens are already fed up and Melbourne and Sydney are even asking for resignation of her top leader.

What I think: Waiting for a vaccine before the boarder gets open to international students is bullshit and the pressure is mounting from everywhere for Australia to open her boarders. This is the new normal and everybody needs to adapt.

Also, the false news flying all over the media and YouTube videos (with the exception of the credible ones) is not true cause Scott and Josh did not say during the budget proposal that the international boarder will be closed till July(it was just an assumption) all these media people are taking what he said out of context.

Conclusion: I see the boarder open to international students come February 2021.

If your doomsday prediction is correct, why did I get my visa issued on 30th September? I applied for masters in business Administration in January 2020 and got it for February intake 2021.

Hahaha Doomsday?
If you read my words correctly I said the vaccine should be out by January or February and between then and June the boarders should be open. Also if you have a visa for February intake doesn't mean boarders will be open for you by then, it's not guaranteed. My cousin got his visa for Deakin October 2020 session and I can assure you he's still very much at home in Nigeria.
Am not trying to be negative but just being factual and realistic, am sure as at march many of us believed the boarders would have been open by now but it's not

You can't compare the UK government or even European nations to Australia Government. Australia and NZ are very similar they would not even risk their country health like the way UK would, The UK government can't even afford to shut down even with almost 17k cases a day. That tells you how much they are willing to risk.
And like you said even states boarders like Queensland are still closed despite not even having any case, if they are closed from their country why would you think they will risk it to Chinese, Indians or even Africans.
They need international students doesn't mean they would open boarders without vaccine. And please don't mistake pilot programs of small amount of student as opening boarders, allowing 300 students into the country can't be the same as allowing thousands of students in, Please be realistic. And pilot programs won't include fresh applicants

Doomsday grin grin grin But on a serious note what tpain22 wrote is correct. Melbournians aren't even allowed to go beyond 5km except for work and they must have a permit so don't expect the borders to be opened this year.

If PR is the ultimate goal, i will advise you actually go the PR Route processing right from Nigeria as having a Masters doesnt add any additional points for Skill select. You still need a minimum of 1 year relevant job experience to scale VETASSESS. So there is no point spending so much money going through Student route if you can spend less by applying for PR from Nigeria.
