Hello House! I really appreciate us all for the useful information on this thread. They come in handy.

I applied for my student visa and got March 2021 at Abuja. My program starts in January. I got a mail from Lagos this morning asking that they have a date this month for my appointment.

I want to confirm, do I need to cancel my appointment at Abuja and pay another visa fee? I was told the mail sent to me should be brought on the day

Thank you for the anticipated responses.

The mail sent to you is your appointment confirmation and your gate pass to enter the embassy. I will advise you not to cancel the Abuja appointment until a day before your expedited appointment in case the interview is suspended. I couldn't get any date at both the US embassy and its consulate but I was given an expedited appointment through the same process you went through. Also, your visa fee is still valid.

Thank you so much for this. I appreciate you.

The DS-160 form I filled for Fall 2020 should still be valid then.

Please i have two options for 2021 fall.

1. Apply to a Community College.

2. Apply to University.

I have HND in a Health field. The entry qualification for this profession is an Associate Degree. This can be done in a Community College. If you want to Teach or go into research then you can complete your Bachelors degree (Most time online), get your masters and you are good to go. An Associate Degree is enough for Licensure and eligibility to practice.

This is my question...

1. Has anyone ever gotten a visa with an I-20 from a Community College?

2. Since i have HND and Associate Degree and more or less the same, will it show a career progression?

Won't the VO think I'm going to study what i already did?

Please someone should attend to me

If your original admission was fall 2020, it means that the start date on your I-20 must be updated to reflect January 2021. Hence you need to fill another DS-160 to update the start date. Just use your DS-160 confirmation ID to retrieve your previous application and fill another application. I hope you know there is a clause that you must fill the DS-160 at least 3 days to your interview date so you have limited time and remember to update the new confirmation ID on your CGI profile.

Community College might not be a good idea, evaluate your HND using WES and apply for Masters instead

Yes you'l have to complete a new ds160 form because your program start date have changed. But ensure you update your new application ID on your profile before scheduling an interview

Presently if you complete a new DS 160 form, there is no date yet available for Interviews, I don't know if there is another way to go about it or people should wait until they start full operations

@Lagosismyhome, @ fairheart and everyone,
Afternoon guys,

Pls kindly enlighten me. I applied for F1 visa for fall 2019 in a school but wasn't successful. I applied this year fall again but the school said there is no need to pay a new SEVIS fee that they will update my record. So it was updated so I can use it for spring 2021. As it so, it means I didn't pay for this sevis fee. My old one was just transferred by the school and I paid it in april 2019. Hope the VO won't query me that I did not pay a new sevis fee although the sevis fee no has been placed on my new i20 for spring 2021. Kindly reply ASAP.

Hello, I was able to schedule an interview date in November but I also have an expedited interview this October. If I am rejected, can I still use the date I picked initially?

Thanks

Hi all, I recently scheduled my visa interview for january 4th and then a couple of days ago I got an e-mail saying that I have been offered an appointment for October 26th (I requested an emergency appointment). My problem is that for my january 4th appointment that was scheduled, my ds-160 has a fall 2020 start date (technically, I started online classes). Do I just cancel my january 4th appointment and get a new ds-160 for my October 26th appointment?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by nonfav: 3:25pm On Oct 15, 2020
I panicked! I dont think the ds-160 asks for a start date or does it?
