Great news making the rounds since morning in the Nigerian tech space.

Is the first guy, Ezra Olubi, a transgender? His sense of fashion looks eccentric.

Lols. Hopefully, such days are all but over as the youths continue to crack down on police brutality and unwarranted harassment.

DontBullshitMe:

1) This is the problem I have with you demonstrators. A protest is not only peaceful when you don't attack people. Blocking highways, stopping vehicles from movement etc are not signs of a peaceful demonstration. You have your rights to protest, at the same time I have my right to free movement. Your right to protest does not trump my right to free movement. Note that!

These blockages are temporal. What has been going on in the country is sufficient grounds to block the highways for a few days or hours.

DontBullshitMe:

2)Yes, you can protest for one million years but don't block highways, don't occupy roads. Human rights is not for you only. Which one is police reform you are trying to smuggle into the demands? The original demand was for SARS to end and it has ended. Trying to twist the narrative into police reformation is just the demonstrators trying to hold the government to ransom after they realised how popular their demonstration has become. It's dishonesty. Let me also add that police reform is not a one week exercise.
Now you're talking like a true Government person. Anybody who is not a novice knows that SARS is only a small part of the problem. SARS as an entity has been banned on at least 3 occasions at different levels. A sweeping police reform is what will reduce the likelihood of a menace like SARS resurfacing in another iteration. Feigning ignorance of this is the height of dishonesty and akin to spraying cologne on faeces

This government should continuously be held accountable no matter how uncomfortable it might be for you the privileged few

DontBullshitMe:

And please don't bring bad governance to this discussion.
Why shouldn't I? Has the governance been good?

DontBullshitMe:

Bro, I am not a government agent. In fact I was in support of the protest initially but not anymore. I am a rational citizen who wants the best for this nation. Thank God you accept that the economy is not in good shape. If this protest goes on for too long, I'm afraid the worst is yet to come. Trading activities in some part of Lagos is on hold for days, just because some people want to prove activism to their Twitter followers.

I find it hard to believe you were genuinely in support of a protest and barely 1 week you're not anymore. Soro soke. You're advocating for cosmetic approach to issues, feigning ignorance about past promise and fail by this government amongst many other things. Where have you seen any serious protest last for just 1 week.

I don't believe you were ever on board at all and that's ok but be honest to own it

There is no direct link between the economy and these protests. If you people must lie at least do it with the fear of God. A bag of rice is almost 35k, Dollar is 450. What was working before the protests and how worse can it possibly get.

1) I think it is extremely laughable for you to think the protesters are the only Nigerians worried about the the state of the country. If every Nigerian decides to occupy every major roads because of what's going on in the country, I wonder how these demonstrators will be able to mobilize and organise anything worthy of attention. That's the problem I have with emotional demonstrators. Let every Nigerian occupy/block every roads like you lots are doing and see if it will not lead to a full-blown socioeconomic crisis.

2)SARS is "a small part of the problem" indeed but they were able to steal the headlines for every protesters demand? You think everyone is a kid? Like I posted earlier, the major and original demand was for SARS to end. It has ended and every sensible, gainfully employed and right thinking demonstrators like myself withdrew to observe and see what further steps the government will take. They have recalled all SARS officers to the nation's capital - if that is not enough reason for some demonstrators to halt any further protest. Then I can as well opine that nothing the government will do will change their mind.

All this noise about police reform is just embarrassing. What is police reform to you might not be police reform to me. To push for any police reform, engage your local lawmakers since you have the numbers. Stop constituting nuisance on the road.

3) Bringing the issue of governance to the discussion is just you trying to prey on people's sentiments.

4) I and several other genuinely concerned Nigerians were in full support of the protest and even participated. When the demands were met, we were sensible enough to go back to our houses.

- SARS disbanded.
- All SARS officers recalled.
- A new tactical unit created. (membership prohibited for former SARS officers)

These are not cosmetic approach.

Permit me to tell you that you are not well informed going by the parts of your post I highlighted in bold. You should do more of listening to radio programs and watching news.

1.A caller called in on Nigeria info 99.3fm yesterday and narrated how he encountered FSARS officers at Benin on Wednesday which is just 2 days ago. He said he engaged them and told them : " I thought you guys have been disbanded"

They laughed at him and told him point blank : " Disband wetin?.....you people are just wasting your time, when Una protest tire una go rest. Even if dem disband us, no be this police we go still dey?.....we go still carry this gun. "

2. Same Wednesday there were reports of the same "disbanded SARS" extorting a man in Rivers state.

3. Yesterday night there were videos of SARS officers going to people's home in Yaba, Surulere and other parts of Lagos mainland going to abduct them.

If you are aware of all this and you still think the protests are unnecessary, then maybe you are indeed a government man A40 called you
