You see how people are here saying Yoruba amaka.

If Igbos dare contest elections in Lagos state now, they'll be told to go back to their states and Oba will threaten the whole tribe's existence.

Let's keep deceiving ourselves with one Nigeria.

Shut up jare.... Why can Igbos let yoruba hold a post in the East... Ungrateful bigot..

The only way u cud interprete wat happening in the US is to change it to Igbo yoruba matter.

Tribal bigotry has eaten ur life so deep

It's the Republicans you must be thinking about they have all the hallmarks of a Nigerian politician.

- socially conservative and forcing rules upon others that go against their intended goals because they hate independent thinking.

- against social amenities and public infrastructure like hospitals, schools being funded by the government, they would rather those things rot and private entities price whatever they want than spend money on them.

- against environmental protections, consumer protections and worker's protections because they believe that businesses should do what they want in a free market. This means America can turn to Ogoniland where oil is extracted for companies and government but the people suffer from the effects.

- hate anyone who isn't following their religion or from their ethnic group.

No wonder people on nairaland love Republicans so much, that is what they are used to seeing in Nigeria.

I truly wish an Igbo man would be governor of lagos

This is not tribalism ooo but I forbid it in chukwu name..

Not even deputy governor....

U can accuse me to hating, I know it is ur way....

Until a yoruba man can be a governor in the East, then we can talk abt Igbo being a governor in Lagos state.... No problem

See progressive country. Here in Nigeria,Ibrahim whose parents are from kano but born and brought up in Enugu or Emeka whose parents are from Anambra but born and brought up in Sokoto will never be allowed to smell a Councillorship seats in any of city they were born because of their Surname. How are we going to progress in this Ethnic and Religiously divided country.

We can go to another country and contest for elective positions but here in Nigeria, even as immigrants but here in Nigeria, even your parents were born in a particular location, you yourself born and had lived all your life in this geographical location, they will still tell you to go your state of origin
Are you Igbo? If you are, lemme ask you. If Imo or Abia state were to be as developed as Lagos, will you allow yoruba man to contest? No sir! The answer is no. True, it's not good to deny people their rights in a place where they've lived almost all of their lives. But if Lagos is an Igbo man's land. Igbos will do the same.

OP let's correct the Headlines, those guys contesting aren't doing so as Nigerian Citizens but that of US, if they win, they would be representing their constituency and not the Nigerian people so what should we be proud of there, that they couldn't contest at home because our system doesn't give room for artisans?

Like bro I really hate to hear these things like Nigerians do this in America, this and that . How can you be calling someone a Nigerian and he will be contesting for American presidency lol. Everybody knows 60% of black Americans are from West African decent during the slave trade. So you can call them Nigerian or African background and not necessarily Nigerian

Those people are Americans of Nigerian background. And you cannot go and contest for presidency in another country.
