The 2021 Afrobasket will take place 2 weeks after the Olympics game ...

The women tournament will take place 12 days after the Afrobasket (men) ... According to the new dates released by FIBA

Afrobasket Qualifiers: Mike Brown releases 20 man provisional list

D'Tigers Coach new coach Mike Brown has released a 20 man provisional list for the 2021 Afrobasket qualifiers slated for Kigali, Rwanda between 27th and 29th, November.

Brown who will officially start his voyage with Nigeria submitted a list featuring 7 players who featured at the 2019 FIBA World Cup where Nigeria qualified for the Olympics in Tokyo.

Captain, Ike Diogu will lead the legion which includes 29 year old Stan Okoye (Gran Canaria), Ben Uzoh Ike Iroegbu, Talib Zanna, Ekpe Udoh and Michael Eric

2015 NBA winner with Golden State Warriors, Festus Ezeli will be on the flight to Rwanda for a chance to represent Nigeria for the first time ever alongside a member of the 2015 Afrobasket winning team, Mike Gbinije.

After missing the final 12 man team to the world cup, France based Ike Nwamu will make another return to the team alongside Tonye Jekiri, Christopher Obekpa, Braxton Ogbueze, Mike Efevberha, Obinna Emegano who at some point featured during the team's 2019 qualifiers series.

Chima Moneke who has averaged 12.3pts and 5.8rebs in 4 games for Orléan in the French league has also been called up for the first time alongside Zaid Christopher Hearst-Okpalannaka who plies his trade in the second tier of the French league.

Other new faces who will hope to earn their first cap include Real Betis powerforward, Obi Enechionyia alongside Ogbunu John and Rasheed Sulaimon who play for Casademont Zaragoza

Ike Diogu should just retire. He wasn't effective at the World Cup. He slows the game down

NBBF has invited 16 players to D’Tigress’ Atlanta camp for a 10 day training session as preparation commences for the 2020 Olympics Games in Tokyo.
Training camp to be held at Fairfield Inn & Suites, Atlanta will start on Sunday, 31st of January and end on Monday, 8th, of February.

The list is headlined by centre, Elizabeth Williams who plays for the AtlantaDream in the WNBAand 26th overall draft pick, Erica Ogwumike, Minnesota Lynx who are part of the five new faces joining the team.
Nicole Enabosi will have another chance to be a part of the team after missing out of the 2018 FIBA World Cup in Spain due to injury she suffered while with the team.

Forward, Amy Okonkwo with Club Deportivo Zamarat, Spain has also been invited alongside Oderah Chidom, with Tsmoki-Minsk BC of Bulgaria as well as Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpannah with Pallacanestro Vigarano of Italy.

Most Valuable Player of the 2020 Afrobasket, Ezinne Kalu who plays for Landerneau BB makes a return to the team with Promise Amukamara (Charnay BB) and Evelyn Akhator (Flammes Carolo) all based in France.

Team captain, Adaora Elonu (Uni Girona CB) will lead the Spanish legion which has Elo Edeferioka (Celta de Vigo Baloncesto) and Atonye Nyingifa (Ensino Lugo Club de Baloncesto).

Otis Hughley handed an invitation to Sarah Ogoke, Sarah Imovbioh (Club Namur-Capital, Belgium), 20yr old guard, Elizabeth Balogun with University of Louisville as well as Kosovo Superleague side, KB Bashkimi new signing & four time Afrobasket winner, Aisha Balarabe.

The draws for the Olympic Basketball Tournaments are out!

D’Tigress are grouped alongside the USA, France, and Japan. D’Tigers will square up against Australia, the winner of the OQT in Croatia, and the winner of the OQT in Serbia

D’Tigress have a decent shot at finishing in the top 2 in the group. I see no reason why they won’t win at least two group games

Japan being the host, home court advantage could come in handy. I recall they even beat us last time out at the world championships. France have one of the best teams in Europe, they always do and then the USA.....This is the group of death, our ladies have to do it the hard way, I will have to trust their capacity.
