People need to wise up, but don't the bank app has a functions that allows you to enable online transactions and payment via POS.

When I want to make online transactions I enable it and when I'm done I deactivate it immediately.
My card was compromised, but don't want to apply for another cause it will expire in December

Another good observation. I see this under card management service in the first mobile app. So you mean one can actually activate and deactivate their card for online transaction at that first mobile app for real?

One thing i noticed about the few strongly supporting the otp/pin notification is that they are actually fraudsters who are against their trick being dymistified, and as such trying to derailed the thread.

Lol, another angle

Have tried registering PayPal and it said it isn't in my country yet. So if u r a Nigerian residence in Nigeria and owns a PayPal account then u r a fraudster.
First before u use any debit card on any site for transactions, they will verify whether u r the owner of the card. Ur bank will send otp to ur phone for security check, once this is done some sites won't bother u with this anymore.

YOU must be a clown! Which PayPal isn’t registered in your country yet... First off I’m not even in the country but I registered my PayPal whilst in Nigeria, also pls let me send you a link so your card to pay for a service or try it yourself, no need to register a PayPal Acct just make the payment see if it doesn’t go through... I will cover whatever you spend up to 50k NGN...

Sharap I lost 141,000k in Orange Grove in Owerri and that's how exactly they did it. Told me the POS was bad, went inside and came out with another one. I paid 27k for things I bought and very early in the morning they started debiting me 15k, 15,600k,15k before I could call the bank to block my account they've collected 141k.

You would like one of them

Stop telling lies, if it is possible those sixteen numbers will not shown out. Is is not possible without your pin. Don't tell me to send it to you because there is no need.

Prove him wrong, send pictures of front and back of your card let’s see what he can do, he’s nothing but a toothless dog

Sometimes proving these guys wrong can send a message to all the liars

Not all banks send OTP.

Let's be guided on how will input our card details online. The best thing is to get Utility card for online transaction. You can fund the card when ever you have online transactions to carry out or when you want to you it on POS, so if there's any unauthorized transaction that might want to occurr on your card, it will be declined if he card is not funded and you will be notified to know that card details has been compromised. You can easily block the card for replacement.

I always protect my card details jealousy because I can't be a victim of what I know, your bank will only promise to investigate without good result (refund).

Help me tell dem.
And also even if they try it, they still need to verify their transactions with otp...

That is not totally true. some website allows the card number and the Security number only. this information is enough for adequate transaction without the PIN.

becareful.

Some many people take things for granted....
First when you collect your ATM Card you be asked to activate it for online transaction
One of the few ways to activate it is by
SECURE PIN this is old method don't know if still works
OTP PIN newest method...can be accessed through your registered phone number
IF YOU DO THIS AFTER COLLECTING YOUR CARD no online platform can debit you without your ATM pin not to talk of Secure pin or otp

But If you fail to do this, some bank will allow transaction on your your card with your ATM PIN on some online platform...
But Never Without your ATM PIN or OTP

take note of bolded..... And if you think your good enough quote me and I will drop my card 16 pin,CVC and expiry date

It's called utility card. It doesn't have a connection with your account, it only has the money you are willing to spend.

quote author=galantjoe post=96152324]Best safety is to have ATM account. That is a bank account you will used to make atm or Pos withdrawal and you will not keep substantial amount or your life savings in the account.

Once fraudster get hold of ur card number and that 3digit number at the back of atm card, getting your pin is small case.

Please, be careful when making a transaction at a POS terminal. Some POS agents can send your ATM card details to fraudsters.

• HOW IT IS BEING DONE

When you go to a POS terminal to make a transaction, he/she will collect your ATM card and slot it into an ATM machine. After few seconds, he/she will tell you that the POS machine is malfunctional (i.e not working properly). He/She will tell you that you should wait while he/she bring another POS machine inside.

When he/she goes inside, your ATM card will be snapped (including the surface and below) with a smartphone. He/She will surely come out with another POS machine, but you will not know that your ATM card had been snapped and sent to fraudsters! The fraudsters will now use your ATM card details and make transactions online!

Very simple to adress now. Just memorize and clear your Security number from your card

Without your PIN?

Without your phone or token?

This is only possible on very few websites.

What you should be more afraid of is that they have a skimming device which they can use to clone your card details; then they watch you input your PIN.

They can then make a copy of your card and transact with it.

The account wey your big money dey should not be activated for internet banking, etc.

Keep you bank account sim at home.

Follow the first stuff I wrote and u will be fine.

I have been doing these things from the get go, also you can add pin authentication to your sim, so if your sim is inserted into a new phone it would require sim pin, after 3 wrong trial, sim would be blocked and require PUK

Have you heard of utility account and card, it’s connected to your bank but has a different account number, so you can send and remove money from it through your web app, the card can’t access your main bank account, I use one, I Dey tell every human being my pin because I don’t have money inside, only when I wan buy stuff I transfer from my main account to it and pay for my shît and move

Utility account is best protection you can give your banking in the new world

Becareful of how u mislead pple any POS terminal has a memory for storing every single transaction made on it as such he needs not to snap it if he really want to cheats u, u should ought to say is pple should go to an acredited POS agent or to an agent whom they now very well of good character and integrity

Lock ATM or lock the bank account? Maybe you can provide more clarity on this please.

Cos from what I'm sure off, once your ATM is blocked, most banks will ask that you get a new one. CBN policy doesn't allow banks to unblock ATMs at will. Just as there's a policy that mandates swallowed cards in other bank's ATMs to be destroyed (but we know they don't always follow this grin)

What am trying to say is I use my mobile app to activate and deactivate my card at will.
When active I can use my card to perform transactions but when inactive no form of transaction can go through with the card until it is activated again
