Deltayankeeboi:If I could predict the future, I'd seek out the companies that would produce the winning covik-1-9 vaccine, borrow money and buy their stocks It will keep getting harder just like it did after Sept 11th, Abdulmut4llab (underwear b0mber), collapse of the naira against the dollar from 155 and the Trump presidency... Anything can further tighten the noose. @9jageekz, I do not know much about the medical field. You'll need to stick to answers from go0gl3 or find people on LinkdIn in that field. |

Richdee1:Yes, tried buying an Avalon, e hard me to find dark interiors so I switched to a Camry... The 2012 model year and it's facelift in 2015 are ugly to me so I moved a step higher. Motor for America no be big man, if you work hard, you go ball hard. I believe in continuous improvement... Below is my newest addition, the 2018 Camry SE - problem No 6. 25 Likes 3 Shares

WOW! A colleague of mine recently suggested I buy a Toyota model - 2018 Toyota Camry SE. I wanted to buy the 2020 Hyundai Elantra SEL for cost and fuel effectiveness. To add to one of your points above, buying a car in the United States is like buying toothpaste. Life is made easy for the middle class in comparison to almost any country on earth. Nice Car @MackyNaija MackyNaija: 5 Likes 1 Share |

You are right!. I have spent over two years in the United States and the progress I have made in those two years; I would not have been able to achieve that level of progress in ten years in Nigeria. Please, Believe what I just said. If you know what you are doing like @MackyNaija, you will be very successful in the USA. The United States is like gasoline added to your little fire. I hope you get what I mean. Paccus: 15 Likes 1 Share |

My Nigerian experiences were sad, I was a trainee for 6years!!! In real life, after my 2nd year, I was a 'second man', by the 3rd year I was heading projects (Lead Engineer at job sites) and making my company $10,000 per Day! Do the calculations for a 45-day project. Them hold me for work for all those years - when we asked for promotion, management would say "Keep Pushing". Leaving to another company was almost not an option cos there were no jobs in the country. 13 Likes |

Futuragetty:Thanks Sir. House sef no be big issue - for a 'modest' $250k house in Texas, a partial downpayment of 10% can be easily saved from scratch in 24months... To say I end up for Texas during this job search, the Camry money for go for downpayment. Stick to computer science, the options are very numerous and it includes Data Science. More options are Analytics, SWE, AI, ML, VR, Developer (SQL, Web, Frontend, Backend, Fullstack, all forms) and numerous other iterations. I hope I have been able to convince and not confuse you that the bigger umbrella of CSci is better. The two years you spend in the program is an investment that begins to bear fruits immediately. From my last interaction with friends, OPT and H1B still sells. 18 Likes 2 Shares |

Tunmise100:Try to avoid the LE, it also has a different front grille. I'd have preferred the XSE for it's 6 cylinders. Overall I like it, the handling is superb! Negotiating bends at 80mph is sweet!!! Lane assist + collision warning/auto braking very useful.. If your MoneyIsLong, subscribe to Toyota cOnnect services = remote start your baby this winter so it warms the car fluids and heats the car interior with your last AC settings. Was supposed to do a road trip this weekend to see it's full abilities on a freeway, rising covid cases cast everything. 16 Likes |

jaygogna:The problem with what we call 'Commercial & Arts courses in Nigeria' when you come to pursue those fields in the US is that you'll be competing with Citizens in fields with less opportunities. 0PT and H1B will be difficult to get here. Google "underwater basket weaving" or "left handed puppetry" so you understand how Americans view some courses. What my friend did using sociology as an example - he got admitted for Msc in a field similar to sociology, started the program then switched to industrial management/technology... The aim was to get closer to the sciences. He currently works in the Safety field. His OPT worked for him. Get a little knowledge/experience from Nigeria in any field you wanna practice in the US, it will aid your cause. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Muleriders:Create the plan on paper and work towards it and you'll be surprised at how far you'd go. To everyone wishing to embark or just recently embarked on this journey, you might face many difficulties but you'll with definitely pull thru with Perseverance. Carry for mind say - Las Las, you go deh alright. Me with a fulltime job even write GRE twice added to Toefl to improve my odds. Anybody wey tell you say e easy deh lie BUT the hustle must pay you. Remember, it is a journey, not a sprint. Believe in your dreams and Keep Pushing! 22 Likes |

MackyNaija: which is most preferred; GRE or TOEFL? for schooling in the US. 1 Like |
Re: Naija to Yankee Thoughts And Experiences by MackyNaija(m): 6:02am On Nov 28, 2020 |
9jageekz:It isn't about the preference... Toefl shows proficiency in English Language. Without Toefl, Some schools will insists you take English courses on resumption and this could cost thousands of dollars and elongate the Masters. Toefl is cheaper and takes less time to complete. Some schools might accept a high GRE Verbal score. I didn't need ANY stories so I wrote the exam so as to satisfy English proficiency requirements of almost ALL schools in USA. For GRE, the schools need a sort of system to rate aptitude of all applicants on same scale. That's where the Writing, Quantitative and Verbal scores come in. 6 Likes |

There is a USA student visa thread, that's where I got a bulk of the info I needed in 2016. It's currently in part 15, I was a member of part 10&11 I think. There's also a GRE thread. Both are filled with all you need to know, available at no cost to you. 10 Likes |
