awesomeJ:If importers were getting it,why do you think the aboki segment price is exploding? |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by awesomeJ(m): 8:33pm On Nov 25, 2020 |
TransAtlanticEx: First even if it's 10 people that buy from aboki, as long as they're willing to pay ridiculous prices, the quoted price will go up. The fact that aboki prices are going up doesn't mean a huge volume happens there, as a matter of fact it could mean otherwise. Now most folks go to aboki for these reasons: 1. They're unaware of CBN windows available through their banks; 2. What they're importing is on the CBN's import restriction list; 3. They consider the process and paperwork too rigorous and would just rather use aboki; 4. Some want to save or hoard in USD, and FX for that cannot be sourced from CBN 5. Rarely, there are still folks who need more than the Cap accessible from CBN. PTA for instance is capped at USD 4,000 or it's equivalent per person per quarter. So if you're a very frequent traveller, it may not be enough. 6. Those the CBN governor mentioned in his comment, who use it for illegal deals such as pay physical bribes during elections and sorts. and so on. That's why! 2 Likes |

Lazyyouth4u:Keep it simple man. Warren Buffet said so. You buy a business that is worth N10 a share at N5 and you are worrying about fluctuations in the future? The stock can loose 50% of its value and you will still be alright. I am still regretting selling that stock. But NEXT! |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 7:02am On Nov 26, 2020 |
RealityShot:Haba. When did I claim to know more than Buffet? Abeg o. You can continue to ‘learn’ from Warren Buffet quotes and be applying them to an inefficient and volatile stock market like Nigeria’s na . A market where the activities of insiders, speculators and big boys largely determine prices. You are gonna learn the hard way son. Honestly, I’m more concerned about any newbie that will not know that you are a learner and think you actually know what you are talking about. Then follow the nonesense that you write and lose all their money. If not for that, I wouldn’t bother at all with your naive posts. But ‘facing my front’ now sir... |

maishai:But sir how can we(both citizens and government)change the status quo? |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by DexterousOne(m): 8:54am On Nov 26, 2020 |
Aquilapriscilla: It's very simple BOOSTING PRODUCTIVITY Nigerians (well most of us anyways ) don't have the mindset that is requisite to create wealth We are either looking for luck, destiny helpers, praying our way into it, looking for rent seeking opportunities, or even the worst, looking for body parts to appease one useless Oracle or goddess of money Thinking this way; even though everything is fixed in nigeria, will not lead to development You build wealth by offering products and services that people are willing to pay for Or you steal another person's own and make it yours No other way. Assuming we were more productive, and not import dependent We wont be so crazed about the USD/NGN exchange rate Look at Russia that has been under sanctions They dont care about the exchange rates Because they produce MOST of their necessities AT HOME And the value chains are mostly domestic So prices of things remain relatively stable, eventhough the exchange rate between the roubles and dollars ha e collapsed over the last six years or so. We need to banish the rent seeking mentality And offer goods /services to trade amongst ourselves Value addition 6 Likes |

To make N100 (one hundred naira) on 91-day T-bills, you need at least N10m (Ten million naira). |

DexterousOne: YOU SHOULD KNOW MORE THAN 90% OF CURRENCIES ARE PRINTED VIA INTERESTS ON DEBTS. The higher your interest rates, the more your currency gets printed, and the less valuable it becomes. and I wonder how you should think he is full, would you keep risk free rates at 18%, do you think that'd be smart? Then you must assume you're smarter than the federal reserves that kept their rates at 0-0.25% for nearly a decade, or European countries that give negative interest rates on their securities. 2 Likes 1 Share |
