Dear House,
Please help look into this:
I started my application alone.
ITA was received in September 2019. Age 30, birthday in May.
Medicals and Biometrics done in October 2019.
PPR was finally issued in February 2020.
I decided to add spouse to avoid boredom in strange land and hurdles of sponsoring spouse later on. Marriage took place first week in March and notification sent to CIC.
All the documents for the spouse( Medicals and Police report) were also prepared immediately after marriage as we expected this would be submitted.
We submitted all documents and added spouse to application by 3rd week in March, including police report and medicals.
Till date, CIC has not responded to enquiries or provided update for spouse or requested for her biometrics. All web forms keep getting the same response that it is being processed and that additional information will be asked if required. We requested for GCMS notes and the last update on it stated April 2020.
Please what could be causing the hold up, do we keep raising web forms or just wait and hope for the best?
I will be 32 in 2021. Is age going to be a factor?
Lest I forget, my passport even expired during this process on my birthday. I have gotten a new passport, and added it to my application. Needless to say, my medicals is also over a year.

thank you soo !! Much! God bless you.. Please can I email you?

IRCC accepts wages paid as commissions. Part time work is also permissible. Carefully review the link below and check that:
1) your work experience is in line with what is written there
2) you performed the duties of your chosen NOCs 3) your employer can give you reference letters with job descriptions that match the NOCs

The 1st NOC will have dates matching when you started working for the firm till when you were called to bar and your duties were expanded. The 2nd NOC from where the 1st ends to this present time/date. Your primary NOC on your profile can be either.......if both meet the conditions in the link below.

If you are the UK and the firm is in Nigeria, you may want to explain about working remotely, but that should be easy given the COVID reality of 2020......hopefully none of the duties in the NOC require you to be physically present in the same domicile as your employer e.g. going to court etc!

All the best.

You don't have to worry about any fluctuations. The exchange rate of the day you submitted, using either xe.com or oanda.com and which you must have gotten the screenshot/submitted along your application is all (the reference) that matters..

I don’t think it’s the exchange rate on the date of submission o. I ordered GCMS notes during my application and there was something called a lock in date that was different from the date I submitted. God will help us.

there is no easy route to canada. Study has high rejection rate, express entry has lots or requirements. Visit they wont even give you unless you have strong ties that will bring you back to 9ja.so start from page 1 if you are a serious. Stay away from agents as it will end in tears.

Hi house, I requested my GCMS note and this was what I got below. I paid RPRF when they requested it and submitted the doc but it seems they can’t see it , so I used a web form to resend the document. Please what stage is my profile at ?. I submitted my profile mid august . Thank you

Congratulations my friend, you have successfully navigated through the mucky waters of express entry. Relax and keep praying, ppr should drop soon. But you're in accra visa office soooooo might not come in soon but be rest assured that you're getting the ppr. Once again Congratulations mon ami. Request a webform probably by month end to see if your eligibility has changed from recommended passed to passed/valid/complete. Also, it shows that you haven't paid RPRF. If you haven't, try to pay it asap&upload the receipt as it might delay your application

So I thought too until I received my gcms note. They have a quarterly fixed rate they use. It's extremely different from the fe they even post on their website. For example, you can submit $13000 and the system automatically flags your application for minimum funds requirement met but the analyst handling your file will use the exchange rate of the day he's working on your application to calculate the cad equivalence. People who have ordered gcms note will notice this difference. They have a fixed rate we all don't know about

Quick Question

I am married. My hubby paid bride price and did one other rite and we started living as husband and wife, we have a son even now .

I did news paper publication for change of name to his name . ..did affidavit for marriage which I used for the change of name .

After that my husband traveled back out since we don't live in thesame country.

Now. If I am to apply for express entry. And I enter as Married, ...without having done court marriage at the time .......... My question is,....what if my Marriage certificate date is showing "post ITA"? ? Would that be an issue? ....if I make it clear from the beginning that I am married . ....but by the time my husband would return from where he stays for the court marriage and all I would have already gotten an ITA by then. ....

Would that be an issue if the date on he certificate is Post ITA? Plus we have a son, ...news paper publication, and the rest from two years ago. ??

Hello all,

My sister got into her Bsc program via direct entry (Cambridge A-levels). We were wondering if this could be evaluated as two or more certificates. Has anyone been in this situation?

All we saw when researching was that people used foundation diploma and the likes.

We want to know before she embarks on acca.
Thanks

Thanks for your response.
What I do is just selling stuffs online similar to selling on Jumia or Konga. Well, this role is under NOC 0 which makes it nice but the thing is I don't have the business officially registered though I've got proof of statements of income from this business as I have been in the business since 2014 and can show invoice as well as the bank transaction statements detailing this income over the course of 3 years.

Right now, I'm currently not in this business anymore so, the links to my stores are inactive though I can prove the business's presence on FB over the years.

I know this is slightly burdensome to prove.

You will most likely receive a Procedural Fairness letter.

Any reason why you got married 2-3 weeks after PPR?

My opinion (others might also give a contrary view) would be to travel with your COPR so its doesn't expire and then do a spousal application for your wife. Please bear in mind that the spousal route takes about a year but its safer so you don't lose out on both ends instead of just waiting endlessly. Once COPR expires, chances of it being reissued is very slim, but its not impossible. A bird in hand is better than 2 in the bush

It is well. You jusy have to wait for them. You have done all the necessary things.
I suspect your AVO is Accra now on account of adding spouse after.
It will end in praise

How were you able to do newspaper publication with the court certifocate. That is the only legally binding cerificate.
Regaridng thr court papers being agter ITA. That is fine but you will declare the court papers as at the time tou get it as when your were officially married.
Anything before then you are common law partners

Customary marriage A.K.A traditional marriage is a legally binding form of marriage in Nigeria. But we are used to double-deck marriage I.e trad, registry, white Altogether. To the poster asking if she’s legally married yes you’re legally married and can obtain certificate from a customary court. The visa officers reviewing files are aware of the forms of marriages in Nigeria, it shouldn’t be alien to them.

copr is canceled when you add spouse, she can't travel unless she and her husband are issued new ppr and copr

A) Lawyers will know for sure.....but I suspect for you to choose married you need to be married legally which would mean having a marriage certificate. I'm not sure that traditional marriage is recognized. I don't think changing one's name is evidence of marriage, it just shows that you used to bear a different name......single people also change names for various reasons. Also, the change of name doc is a different placeholder from marriage certificate. Not sure if post ITA wedding will fly.

B) You may consider choosing common law partner pre ITA (instead of married), see here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/applications-received-on-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html

Evidence of common-law union and cohabitation:
1) The applicant must submit a Statutory Declaration of common-law Union form [IMM 5409 (PDF, 636.51KB)] and evidence of cohabitation for a period of at least 12 continuous months.
2) Evidence of cohabitation includes but is not limited to:
*copies of joint bank account statements;
*copies of leases;
*utility bills.

Having said this, if I were a VO, I may be suspicious of common law partners that live in different countries...notice they use common law and co-habitation synonymously.

C) You may also consider choosing single and adding him post AOR after your court wedding - this may attract more scrutiny and you may need to provide more docs from the stories that have been shared here.

#PersonalOpinion

Thank you for this enlightenment. Didn't even know of the common law route. Will definitely look into it.

For newspaper publication, all you have to do is to swear an affidavit that you were traditionally married and hence you wish to change your name to his name.
That's all, and since then even my International passport bears his name. Altho this is the first time I would be needing to make use of the passport in his name but with no marriage certificate.

I'm considering the common law route
