Landed IAD. Washington Dulles.
Flew Turkish airlines, No Covid test required.

Layover at Istanbul for 9hrs, we weren't offered any hotel.

But flight from Istanbul to Washington wasn't full. I was the only one on my row of seats so I could lie down on the seats.

Only question asked at the point of entry in Washington- how many days which I answered, and he replied, enjoy your stay. I had food items but wasn't asked about it.

Good morning all.. Who has flown Emirates airlines to the U.S recently, did they require Covid test at check in?

Greetings from Toledo, OH! I left naija on Wednesday the 16th from MMIA, Lagos. Flew KLM through Amsterdam to Detroit. Arrived here around 1:19pm local time. The flight to Amsterdam was about 6hrs. KLM served us better jollof rice with diced fried plantain & chicken, they also gave us breakfast we would eat during our layover at Amsterdam. After the 5hrs layover it was time for boarding again, this time it was Delta airline. Flew 8hrs to Detroit.
Poe went thus:
He beckoned on me to come forward.
Him: hello
Me: hello (with smiles) I gave him my passport
Him: look to that screen over there & take off your mask, it will capture you. I did as he directed
Him: please pass me your sevis. I gave him the sevis receipt, lol
Him: what about the other document, i20 I meant to say sorry. So I gave him the i20
Him: what school are you going to?
Me: WIU for my masters degree
Him: great! You’ll be here for how long?
Me: 2years as my program is for 23 months
Him: do you have any fresh vegetables, meat products?
Me: no I don’t
Him: stamps me in and said do have a lovely stay here in America
I moved over to pick my luggage & was about going out when I was directed to the other side for agricultural check.
I thought since I already told the first guy that I don’t have meat products I won’t be checked again, lol.
They were 5 of them there, 3men & 2 women
First man: do you have fresh meat, pork, fresh vegetables, garden eggs? No I don’t
Him: so what do you have here? Peanuts, dried fish & some local spices.
So they searched & brought out everything from my 2 bags. They saw my small kilishi inside the Ghana-must-go bag‍♀️
Second guy: where did you come from, how is Lagos? How long have you been in Nigeria. Told him I’ve lived there all my life. So this is your first international trip. I said yes.
Him: I thought you said you have no meat
Me: he (pointing to the other officer) asked me for fresh meat & I don’t have that
Him: ok we don’t accept any meat products here. Next time you make a list of all the food items you’re bringing in & give it to the guy that stamps you in, do you understand? There’s usually a penalty for bringing in prohibited foodstuffs. It can be from $300-$1000. Do you understand?
Me:yes sir, thank you.
He saw calendars while checking the other luggage that had my clothes. He asked what it was for & I told him they were for my sis
Him: you have a sis here? Is she coming to pick you up?
Me: yes, she stays in Ohio, Toledo precisely
Him: which school are you going to? Why did you pick that school?
I just told him the school offers my program & I’m interested in an ongoing research. He gave me a thumps up & told me to pack my things back into my bags & enjoy my stay

Welcome to the USA Neeta02

Covid-19 test is not required to enter the US in general. May be a few exceptions like New York

I just had to share my experience with Turkish air
My flight was from lagos to IAD Washington
Please make sure you eat before flying. Please eat. Even carry food to eat on board lol
We were given the same food twice would attach the picture. Cold bread and juice. I had not eaten all day so my eyes were very red when I saw that bread. Wanted to believe it was appetizer but to my greatest surprise that was the main meal.
9hours stop over at Istanbul I was too tired and hungry so I paid for the lounge about €47. I ate breakfast and lunch, showered and slept like a baby. Money well spent.
The flight from Istanbul to IAD
At security they kept asking if I had been to china or any country in Europe in the past 14days.
The flight was pretty full and I could count the blacks on the flight.
Now back to the food....
Same cold bread but this time they added cheese inside the bread. Thank God I had eaten very well at the lounge. But for an 11hours flight I felt that was really bad. They severed the same bread meal twice. I slept most part of the flight so i was fine. Didn’t have to eat that cold bread only drank the juice.
POE
Turkish air was the only flight that just landed so the lines were not long
I was asked how long I was staying
Who I was visiting
And if I had food stuff which I said yes. But I wasn’t checked and I was out of the airport.
Hopefully I would explore turkey on my way back home in January for a few days
Happy holidays!!

What they serve is appalling. They are using covid as excuse for this rubbish they gave us. They did slightly better on the return leg of my flight from Atlanta to Istanbul. Gave us Omelette (lol). Then steak and potatoes and still got the free hotel. However from Turkry to Abuja was the same ole bread

good day to you all, I want to book my flight now to Nashville from Lagos

1. I see a Turkish airline from Lagos to new york- then I will find my way from JFK to Newark for my connecting flight to Nashville, is it advisable to book that flight? if yes does the covid 19 test requires you to pass through JFK to NEWARK airport? ( please note Turkish airline doesn't fly to Newark )

2. Is it advisable to book a flight separately, I wanted to book a Turkish airline from Lagos to JFK, then book another flight from JFK to Nashville like Delta airline, does I need Covid 19 test to pass through JFK for a connecting flight? please I need your responses and advice

Thank you all, God bless you.

Thank you all, God bless you.

New York currently requires a Negative COVID Test from some countries, so confirm the list on NY.GOV.
It changes almost every other day

Let the airline handle all the connection flight issues. They don't fly there, but should have codeshare agreements.

Option 1 or 2 will stress you. You check out of JFK, make your way to LaGuardia Airport (Domestic) or Newark Airport in New Jersey to board for Nashville. Transport. Routes. Dragging your luggage. Finding terminals etc etc for a visitor can be overwhelming. And make sure there is like 5 hours between flights so you aren't under pressure to meet a flight 90 mins away

I will advise you allow the airline handle all the connections. It is safer for you to avoid long stories at the border control. Like someone told you earlier, always check the websites of the state/country you are flying to. Besides it doesn't hurt to get your covid test done just avoid issues outside the country.

Option 2 should be your best bet.

ensure you put into consideration some hours before you board your BNA flight (i would suggest at least 6hrs) to manage inconveniences & all

Thank for this information, I think second option will be okay, there is 7hrs in between.

I want to fly via Kenya airline. I think that will be fine considering the price variations of some airlines now .

I think I will fly Kenyan airline from Lagos to JFk then delta airlines from JFK to NASHVILLE. because there is 7 hrs different. When I will arrive JFK and departing JFK for Nashville.

Good day everyone,
Happy new year,
I have been trying to follow up on the b1/b2 visa application. On the Embassy website it Says they are processing only limited number of b1/b2 visas. I read through this thread and didn’t see anything on the question I’m about to ask.
My question is:
1) I’ve been going to the us since 2009 for holidays. I’m trying to renew my us visa for holidays.
I didn’t have a previous appointment , are they taking new appointments? Can I apply newly? Abi what do they mean by limited??
2) early in 2020 my sister was going to renew but she wanted to attend a conference and the interview (for March) was cancelled due to COVID.
Is she going to wait for the embassy to contact her to change her appointment? Or will she schedule an appointment herself.
Also, the conference has been cancelled. Should she fill another DS-160 form changing her purpose of travel to holiday? Hope this change of purpose or travel won’t raise a red flag. She’s had several us visas. Some she didn’t even use at all.
But na us and one must calculate well.
Can the gurus in the house help?

They’re taking new applications, dates are just filling up quickly and your sister should fill a new DS160 to reflect the change in her purpose of traveling.
