Before I posted I was certain someone was stealing letters in my house. I don’t want to bore us with details but it’s what it is.

Btw thanks for the Royal Mail link, cheers.

Send some letters to yourself to see if you get it or not.

I sold my old iphone 7+ on Ebay the buyer paid for 1st class but i sent with 1st class signed for, the buyer waited for a month the item did not arrive, i contacted Royal Mail several times but i did not get a positive result.

The buyer reported to Ebay and Ebay decided that i have to refund him and i did.

i Made a claim to Royal Mail they replied with an apology and a cheque worth less than half of the actual price of the item.

I rejected it and sent them an email requesting for the full value of my item, they replied saying they can not pay more than that.

I have taken them to small claim court to get my money paid in full and i will not stop until they pay the full cost of that phone.

Mogbe!! So even signed service is not enough deterrent! Tufia! Shame won’t even allow me say all the money I’ve lost with them. These days I’m super careful sending anything with Royal Mail. Their own staff told me they have very high turnover. People come, work for 3 months, steal and go.

I want to believe you are trolling right?

Let me highlight a couple of things for you
- The 1M that you are touting is mere 2k pounds lol
- In Nigeria, you can be shot by the people who are meant to protect you - the police. All that needs to happen is for you to take an uber, they label you as a yahoo boy, and extort all the money in your account
- You leave home at 5:30am only to get home by 9/10pm
- Erhm, can you work from home for a day without turning on gen or cursing the internet?
- Would you rather your kids going to UNILAG or UNIBEN rather than a University in Southampton?
- Have you heard of people getting rejected at different hospitals?
- Have you seen the numerous cases of rape in Nigeria recently without the perpetrators getting caught?

Yes, I prefer the system taking my money if it offers me good healthcare, good education for my kids, security, amenities, etc

BTW, tell me one place where you don't work hard

You are funny i swear.

You say N1m is less than £2k, i agree. But my question, WHAT CAN £2K DO FOR YOU IN THE UK?
£2k cannot even pay for 1 year rent in the UK for 2 bedroom flat but you can get a very comfortable house in Lagos for N700k or even a duplex for N1.5m a year.

Water bill per month is £50 upward (if u manage water), let me stop here.

If you earn £300 per week with you family in the UK, you cant save shingbai, nothing. But this £300 is about N180k in Nigeria. You can live and save even with ur family with N180k.

How free are you as a Nigerian to have business in the UK? Everyone is working (except the ones that ate citizens of UK and have good money). But in Nigeria, ifbyou have N500k, you can start up smth and if u manage it well in 1 year you can have N1m or more.

My conclusion is that you can make it big anywhere. Lets stop this idea that UK or oversea is equal to automatic making money.

NOTE: I live in the UK with my family and i have a business in Nigeria managed by my employees. I drink from both waters and i can tell you, if you have good money in Naija, coming to abroad should be for relaxation, and may be send ur kids to study here too.

No doubt also you can live safer life in the UK than Nigeria, but People die everywhere in the world.

Absolutely not and its hard to believe that Royal Mail can not account for an item sent through their post office and picked up by their own post men/women

I carry my bag from one floor to the other buying stuffs and offloading them into the box...
I was conscious of my action...but I had alresdy asked and they said it was fine. Security was everywhere but I didn't care if they wee observing me or not...(They even caught people (whites) who stole that day)... When I shop finish...went to the pay point...open up my box and was accounted for... I paid in full and left...

If you and aphrodite mentor migrants... Racism would probably have been a very boring subject of discussion by now...

Awww thanks Poch. kiss

You start to live peacefully when you stop believing the devil exists just to kill you. It’s the same with racism. We are already doing better than them- haters will always hate; so allow them to hate and bask in it!

E.g., look at what LagosIMH said about being on holiday and being the only black- you’ll now leave the holiday you were meant to enjoy, to focus on who is staring?

People get time sha!

You couldn’t have said it any better ma’am. Just last week, I posted a video of my LO and her classmates singing on my WhatsApp status. One of my contacts buzzed me and pointed out that the black kids were put in the second line and it was racism. I frankly told her I didn’t notice and it means nothing to me. I even went ahead to show her other classes in the same school where the dark skinned kids were in front but she still maintained her stance.

I simply just left her to it. When one doesn’t pay heed to trivial things, then life gets a lot more uncomplicated.

You can imagine. Instead of her to pay attention to the singing, she’s focusing on what?

And if they were racist, so what? Igbos cant even live peacefully in northern Nigeria, is anyone discussing that, abi Igbos are less human?

It’s absolutely normal for people to resist a different culture in their environment.

The first time I saw a Mai Suya in the east, men, I stared. Like I spoke hausa to him to be sure. It was shocking.

But you come another person land, come dey force them make them like you, picking on all they do.. sorry they aren’t rolling the carpets out— even some of the yorubas supported the Oba when he told the Igbos to leave— but I even understood because it’s human behaviour to hate what they don’t understand.

It’s not tolerance of racism; it’s just you not caring!

No one will steal your mails or letters. I think you or your housemates must have put in the wrong postcode or addresses.
To always confirm if your address is correct with Royal Mail. Always check this Royal Mail link.

https://www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode

You can actually zoom into any address just as google maps works. Apparently this is what Royal Mail uses.

Actually people have been stealing parcels (not letters sha) of recent. So the OP may not be wrong.

What I expect though, is for the OP to have changed their address to their Uni or work place, as it wouldn’t get stolen at these places.

Don't be sad she will be fine. The 14 days will soon be over. One of my floor mates had the virus last month but she is okay. I had to do another 14days because we are on the same floor and I stayed closed to her before her result was out.

Good afternoon House,

So I recently got a Graduate scheme job to start Sept 2021 in Manchester..

Cos this Plymouth where I am currently based is a dead zones(came here because the Master degree was decently cheaper), oyibo sometimes just dey look you funny. African shop just one and their prices are ridiculous 5kg bag of rice they sell £7.50... Sha demand and supply. Whenever we have chance we go to london to visit wife's family.

Thank you for your input looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Sweetheart, Successful people aren’t people that find the easy way out, they are people that create castles on stormy waters.

This perception you have of “white people” is not my problem, my problem is the importance you give to them. They looked at you and you ran away. Are they that important that their stare is what determines where you live or not?

I have a distant friend that was the only black staff in a company, when the company wanted to go public, they wanted to show off black seniors and promoted my friend. The salary was mad, the position was great. After 1 year, my friend moved to another company, using the new salary and position as leverage. You don’t get opportunities like that in multicultural places because everyone may be better than you (especially in technology)

Congrats on your grad scheme. With grad schemes you get posted round departments. Let’s assume one of the departments is located in a pure white place like Wales or NI, will you turn it down because of racism?

Please let’s do better. All that matters is you. No one else. Your mental health can’t be affected if you don’t notice. If they try to be racist to you and you appear unhurt, na them go dey vex. However, if they are outright... lol them no born them well, because you can pull a whole company down, so they won’t ever be outright.

They fear you. No fear them.

A friend contacted it from his 3months old daughter, the little baby got it from her grandma but my friend's wife tested negative twice even as she is with the baby 24/7. My friend is back to work now and the daughter has fully recovered.

There are many families in your situation and they pull-through within that 14days period.

Thank God say no be only me.
In naija alone, we have zonal, regional, tribal, political and religious 'racism' going on daily...even with tougher levels of hate, intolerance, killings and anarchism...but no one talks about it.
But for here, if person stare at you, we'd want to report the person to the Int'l criminal court of justice...for being racist.
Make i leave am here abeg, so I don't offend my elders sitting on this table... grin

Sorry to intrude, but this argument is a no-brainer and uncalled for.

This is one of those rare situations where you are both right!

It is tougher to earn and save in the UK for low income earners...whose equivalent would thrive extremely well in Nigeria...no doubt.
However, there are socio-economic and security perks that could also influence a choice of abode.

It finally boils down to individual situations and choices...and will be very wrong to try impose your personal situations/experiences as a standard that must be seen as right/true and followed.

Truly, you are both right... but should also try be discerning and empathize regarding other people's opinions.
There is no standard to this thing!

My 2 cents.
