Thanks so much dear, truth is it's been 2 years already. I have moved on to improving myself and learning some new skills too. I also left the town where this happened. Still believing God for something suitable.

Okay dear, all will be well. May God bless your hustle and bless you with something suitable in due time. Dont give up!

I lost a quite lucrative job because they (the panelist) felt I was too qualified for the role. I lost another one as the head chef because the manager felt I was too Ajebo-ish to get my hands dirty. Lost another because I wouldn't play ball. The last one didn't bother me as much as the first two. If one is too qualified for a job, isnt that the more reason to employ the person? The one who said I couldn't get my hands dirty didn't understand how desperate I was for that job at that time. Sad sigh!

A friend of mine lost a job opportunity because of his beard, business was managed by a zion church member.

Honestly you should have kept trying, the fact that someone stole your back pack is a sign that something good was coming your way.

You could have also tried Bribing the security guys & explaining the whole situation to them, I really feel you didn't do enough. I would have told them It was an emergency & that It regards human life that her Mum was dying & in the hospital, Just formulate one lie for them.

Infact if you know their First name, how they look & the name of the company, I can even ask someone to Google up their data. I'm 75% optimistic that she would be found.

I swear, you didn't do enough & you just threw away the opportunity.

You are right my brother, At a point I was so devastated to even continue with the whole pursuit. I was wrecked emotionally because I had some vital stuffs in that bag.

Anyway, hope for the best. You are a graduate right? If yes, you should set up a Linkedin profile so Employers can reach you. If not, you should try networking with people more for jobs.

I wouldn't say she lacks courtesy, I would say she is socially awkward which is not a bad thing in itself, but it can be off putting to people who are not understanding.

If you read to understand, youll know that she lacks courtesy

Reserved persons are quite intelligent set of individuals, they only need engaging conversations to contribute meaningfully to the topic. Their shell is their craft hub. It's still important no matter how reserved you are that you still air your views always so you don't get to be perceived as the odd one out. Don't bring your disadvantaging personality to the work front.

For me, I don't know what to say now. I got a job at a big multinational company with great pay just a week before lockdown but I can't start until the end of the pandemic. The pandemic ended and the company started negotiation with me again but all of a sudden, they stopped and I haven't heard from them till date. They didn't tell me if the offer is still valid or not. If it becomes invalid then that will be the third time I will be getting offer in my life and all of a sudden it would be withdrawn. Don't know if it spiritual or something else. The first and second company that I experience such with were also big multinational companies

Uncle go spiritual

Sorry for those bad experience. I think ur problem is spiritual and the solution is that u should pray and fast about it. Then just have faith. Even those companies that contacted u before will call back and beg u to take their offer. Trust me, with God all things are possible.

Lol, I had that experience two years ago, went for this cleaning interview at one of the multinationals, the HR manager was a very pretty young lady almost same age range as myself.

She looked at my resume and calmly asked me why I had to settle for the job of a cleaner, without mincing words, I told her my story. She told me that Her concience won't let her give me a cleaning job, she gave me her phone number and asked me to call her later in the evening.

Ladies and gentlemen, my village people struck as my back pack got snatched on my way back from the coy. I tried all I could to get intourch with her but I wasn't allowed into the premises again by the security guys.

This touches me. God will make a way for you.

Well, I once lost a job because I was asked a particular question.

I couldn't just say the usual cliche answers, I ended up saying the truth, I ruthlessly pointed out the incompetency, greed and corruption that's wrong with D country.

Though, I felt refreshed, with the way the room turned quiet after the answer, I just knew I won't be called back. But trust me, if given the chance again, I would still say same thing again grin

Okay guys let me set the ball rolling.
I was having a conversation with a friend whose Mum took to custody three girls because they had no one to look after them. It turned out that after some weeks, her mum decided to send back one of them because the girl is quite reserved.

I also had an experience similar to the one above.
Around December last year, a friend hooked me up with a Job, the Job entails making and serving of small chops at events. I travelled from Rivers State to Imo State because I really needed the money. I got there determined to make a lasting first impression, but I guess my personality just got in the way of my hard work. On our way to the event, she kept teasing me on how I was too quiet and not contributing to conversations and worse still I had my glasses on making me look too serious.
When we finally got to the event, she wouldn't let me carry the loaded tray of chops. For her mind she go be like, " make this girl wey no dey see well no go throwway my chops o ". LoL.
If only she knew how much I needed that Job and how earnestly I prayed for her to call me again but sadly, I wasn't called. Please share your experiences.
You didn't play by the rules. People generally reciprocate with your first impression, if they notice you are at tight corners with yourself they will not want to do anything with you at the moment, some if after discussion they don't see anything promising they will not further engage you after the first meeting.
How do I know this? My engagement with people During traveling.

I lost several jobs because I am too tall, the dept of my voice is extreme and I have intimidating muscles. the last boss hurt me most, his words were" no one wants a 6:5foot guy walking around in a hair salon, your voice is too deep for my liking and your look is intimidating, I'll have to relieve you of your duties here, go become a bouncer or wrestler" I just stood there and was smiling like a lunatic
This joke is very funny grin grin
