Lol, I had that experience two years ago, went for this cleaning interview at one of the multinationals, the HR manager was a very pretty young lady almost same age range as myself.

She looked at my resume and calmly asked me why I had to settle for the job of a cleaner, without mincing words, I told her my story. She told me that Her concience won't let her give me a cleaning job, she gave me her phone number and asked me to call her later in the evening.

Ladies and gentlemen, my village people struck as my back pack got snatched on my way back from the coy. I tried all I could to get intourch with her but I wasn't allowed into the premises again by the security guys.
You would have bought her a gift instead, like an expensive pen with a short note on it with your new phone number and by God grace you would have access.
I went for an health, safety and environment training, one of the tutors shared similar experience, this is what he did to get the attention of the HR manager and he got the job, the only difference is that he did not apply as a cleaner.

Some years ago I lost an opportunity of serving in a top school (if not the best) in Kano because I and my fellow corper were not of Northern origin or Muslims.

The NYSC official in charge refused to give us posting papers or change of LGA papers that we need to take to the place or the particular LGA, I learnt he later posted female Muslim ladies to that place.

The pay was 6 figures. We were told when we resume, we must not show that we are corpers because they don't take corners but we will giving one day off.

I guess they needed good science graduates, the third guy was a Msc holder from Lagos.

Another one was in Lagos, them sell our slots.
It was a multinational company(USA owned), we passed through all the interview processes and were later handed over to one human resources/recruitment firm to give us training on the job, little did I and others in my team/group knw that they have started replacing our names with that of the highest bidders.
The HR/recruitment firm is located in gbagada beside UPS close to Charley boy junction. I have forgotten their name.

Thank God so far...
Quota system in Nigeria will cause this country to surely separate.

You could have sent her a letter using DHL. It would have been delivered straight to her.

For me, I don't know what to say now. I got a job at a big multinational company with great pay just a week before lockdown but I can't start until the end of the pandemic. The pandemic ended and the company started negotiation with me again but all of a sudden, they stopped and I haven't heard from them till date. They didn't tell me if the offer is still valid or not. If it becomes invalid then that will be the third time I will be getting offer in my life and all of a sudden it would be withdrawn. Don't know if it spiritual or something else. The first and second company that I experience such with were also big multinational companies

Any experience that happens repeatedly is a cycle and not a good thing in my humble opinion. You might wanna get closer to God as in full blown close to God and the force of faith, prayer and fasting will defeat any force of hell.. I wish you all the best !

apparently you're the only one who understood. I can be very socially awkward like Op too, more reasons why I don't hang out with people I'm not comfortable with else I know atleast 1 person there before I can be free.
You need to open yourself up a little bit, I acted same way some years ago, I guess it is due to the nature of people you want to be around you and you become very selective which I think isn't ideal.

Well,it is generally perceived that introverted people cannot successfully do marketing or sales job.

I'm an introvert but I doubt if the best extrovert can sell a product better, I've done marketing and sold the highest consistently all through the period it lasted. I maybe wrong though but introvert make good salesmen

Well, appearance can be deceptive. You know your ability better than anybody.I always tell my colleagues that being introverted is not equivalent to dullness.

If I were in your shoes, I would have dedicated one day to wait for her outside the gates of the company.

Wait from morning till when they close, she will come outside.

It depends on how desperate you are.

I almost lost a job because my boss said I was too quiet.. He called me aside one day and said if I didn't start talking to customers, he'd have to let me go.
I went home feeling very bad and thinking about how I'd manage, coz I really needed the job.

Next day, he set me up with a customer. Mehhnn.. It wasn't funny at all. He told me I had to convince her to get a product..
When I walked up to her, greeted, told her to have a seat and then I blanched! Thankfully, she was a nice elderly woman, maybe she noticed my unease and just took over and started talking about her son. I smiled, nodded and gave monosyllabic replies when needed.

At the end of the day, she bought plenty plenty, not because she needed it, but because she liked me grin

My boss couldn't stop laughing after the woman had left. He just had to leave me to continue with my actual job as a secretary and leave the talking and convincing to my colleagues.

To be honest. I don't think you lost the job because of your personality. Seems more to me like you lack Courtesy , not being able to return the vibes and energy given to you . I am a very reserved person too , I return jokes when I'm supposed to , laugh when I'm supposed to . That's just pure courtesy.

With what she described up there, she is an introvert. That’s not courtesy she lacks. I do not see any part of the post that provided that assumption.

I have to resign a job.....cos l'm not the solo makinde type and my oga like it when you tell her both the ones you see n didn't see.She didn't see me as a loyalist cos l don't do sho, sho, sho for her.
At a point in time she started seeing me as a treat to her n she doesn't know it's not in my blood.l don't know how to do it.
Then...she started frustrating me...l had to leave her job for her.. but thank God l'm better off now.

Sales boy at a supermarket

This kind of job would need you to be very vibrant, active, and chirpy if possible. Overall, you just need to be a people person to be an effective sales representative which most times, many, or if not all introverts lack. I generally avoid applying for the forefront jobs when I am searching for jobs. I prefer to be at the administrative office typing away my soul, or just be somewhere doing something nerdy.

I did read and still couldn't find out where she lacked courtesy. If you had said she was socially awkward, I would've agreed. Now your own definition of lacking courtesy is not returning vibes or jokes. Judgemental human being.

Meaning of courtesy: behavior marked by polished manners or respect for others : courteous behavior. a courteous and respectful act or expression.

Now she said the woman was talking to her trying to be funny and carry on a conversation but she just ignored it all with her shades on.

Being socially awkward shouldn't be a reason to appear rude or mannerless.

Well , thats just a tip of the iceberg of the setbacks her mannerless ways costed her. If it continues, it will wreck her.! Being socially awkward is a thing, being mannerless is another thing. People with no courtesy tends to appear socially awkward too. Beacuse they dont have regard for other peoples kind gestures . They woman was being kind by acting friendly .
