If it is not true say so. And please follow my statements. Leeds is an attacking team was the point I raised not necessarily that they are very good. Yes they create chances and for their level are quite efficient OK because they score goals too. They have scored 24goals in PL two less than Leicester in second. They have scored 3x as we have. How can you say they are not efficient? Patrick Bamford is their leading scorer with 9goals in 14games. For a low level team, that's impressive. Common angry
then what are we arguing since. I said they don't have good attackers, that's why they miss chances, you said they did and you compared their attackers with Leicester. Now you're saying another thing.

Seems you don't even know what you're arguing about sef, so I'll just pass

The midfield have been the worst since Emery days, they can't defend or attack.
I don't blame those who criticized the purchase of Gabriel because we can't see any improvement in the defence still.
That was why I made a point that if VVD and koulibally partner in our defence they will still suffer.
No matter how good defence is without the midfield it's bad to square one
cool cool cool

Bro, why do you like to single out one point out many just to twist and/or back up your claim.

Baba, inclusion of ozil wont take the fact away that our wingers are nth to write home about.

In a simple sentence Our attack and midfield is very dull especially the former which is affecting the defence. Liverpool midfielders is lacking AM but they are very good in shielding the back four which also give the front three to dazzle with the ball anyhow which made their attack to be deadly.

Now imagine if the midfield being blocked and the front three are very dull what do you think would happen to defence. PSG, Barcelona and Man city are typical example of what a deadly attack can do upfront irrespective of the clown at defence. Midfield nd attack won you games but defence get u the trophy.

Are we contesting for the trophy? NO, thus no need for paying much attention to the back.

Are we contesting for winning games and/or Top4? YES, thus we have to pay much attention to the attack.

With aforementioned up there am done having this convo bro one love COYG.
So you sef don deh shalaye too grin grin.

Well, the bolded is true. If we like, let's carry 10 Gabriels full back (I'm not against Gabriel signing before someone will misconstrue me), if our attack and midfield dull, there's nothing we can do And we'll hardly win games.

One thing I know is that the best form of defence is attack, and if your midfield and attack is so good, defence will surely be less pressured. I know I've said such things lengthily before, and I don't intend to do such again.

Everybody have different opinions, and that's fine, as long as it's for the best interest for arsenal and there's no rancour among us then it's all good.

Mk me just dey try observe for now ...

For the sake of clarity let me address the bold part of your post. I ordinarily have promised myself to wash my hand off posts talking about prioritising defence ahead of attack/midfield in the last transfer window especially when I read how most people argued tooth and nail with Roland17 about it and kept on saying " I told u so"....blah blah. But I have to break my promise to myself.

1. At the end of last season arsenal fans and rivals alike identified that arsenal had a serious deficit in the CB deparment. A man utd fan like Afrodoc rightly pointed out the obvious that none of the clowns we parade at CB will make it to any top 6 team starting 11. The board/management probably feel the same way and decided to go for new CB in Gabriel who was lucky enough to hit the ground running and showed his quality. He was arguably our best player for 3 months running.

2. One of the reasons we agreed we suffered last year was a very bad defence in the middle of the park. We all agreed Xhaka was poor and not arsenal quality....he's the reason our defence gets pressured almost everytime. So our cry was heard by the board and they went full throttle in getting Thomas Partey which we all believe will not only be an enforcer in the middle but also capable of throwing those defence splitting passes when we are on the offensive. I've seen what he can do in our match against man utd; unfortunately he's been in and out of the hospital giving room for the Xhaka we all agree is not good enough to still be a regular in our matches.

3. I agree the team did not do well in the area of adding more attacking options to the team but then did they really neglect attack like some people are alleging? Arsenal bought a certain Nicholas Pepe whom everybody thought his first season in a new league was hard on him we all hoped will come out good (which has not been till now). Arsenal believed a veteran like Willian who has played in the EPL for a while now would help bolster our attacking options unfortunately the reverse has been the case. He's not lived up to expectations rather he appears to have gone empty and spent. Then we have young attackers like Saka, Martinelli, Nketiah etc whom the club was kinda willing to take chances on.

4. The one thing we all agree on is the fact that freezing out Ozil and not making provisions for a proven and tested replacement is affecting our attacking play and making it difficult for us to create chances. The fact that Arteta himself has refused to tinker with the team at his disposal and get results has made him come under fire and rightly so.....but that does not in any way mean Gabriel's buy should not have been a priority as at that time.

5. What most of u people and even me want is a balanced team that is very solid in every department. A team similar to loserpool actually; but what u should be willing to accept is that such team does not just appear after a rookie manager has spent a year or 2 in charge of a struggling team. The pix below was loserpool at a particular period. Some of us taunted loserpool much that time. In fact loserpool was 17th on the table before christmas in 2011 but most fans barely remember that now ; everybody only keeps talking about Arsenal being in 15th and saying we are headed for relegation ( I don't blame them tho)

You are the one confusing yourself. It seems you are fond of misconstruing people's words may be because of your already fixed state of mind. I said Leeds are an attack minding team, this statement is different from saying they have good attackers. If indeed they have good attackers that becomes another topic as Tottenham who are defense minded also have good attackers.

Here is what you need to know.

Arteta has improved our defense but he did so at the detriment of the attack (please when I say defense or attack I am not talking of individuals but the playing pattern). I use figures because they are empirical, and what is empirical is fact.

Take a look at the league table, how many goals have Liverpool conceded this season as the top team? 19. How many goals have Arsenal conceded? 18.

So any person saying our defense is shiit is just being ignorant. The signing of Gabriel has helped our defending. Partey was meant to help the midfield. The only mistake was the failure to get an AM which would have helped our attack. If Arteta can fork out 50m and sign a very good AM just as United did with Bruno Fernandes, he will have one of the most balanced squad in PL. That is when I will judge his real tactical mind.

Now I am genuinely worried about Saliba! How is this kid not getting even cup games. I thought Arteta planned to transition him slowly but that has not being the case. Chambers/ Mari both have come back from long absences and enjoyed game minutes but somehow Saliba has not seen minutes. I bought the excuse earlier about losing his mom, moving to the US and other issues but it is now apparent that we are mismanaging this kid. I am so worried about the state of our you guns.. Balogun has also not signed that contract..

The bolded is my stand too. While all you said is on point and valid, that bolded there is what has been my issue this season which you rightly pointed out. Maybe you're mistaking me for thinking I said I/we don't need Gabriel at the back. No, far from that. You're thinking me saying we're focused more on defence is strictly me saying it's because we bought Gabriel. No. What I'm saying is that we focusing on defence is we focusing on defence "as a system". Gabriel is a very fine defender and he's needed, but if Arteta doesn't tweak our system to suit midfield and attack, then even if we have 10 Gabriels at the back, defence would still crack and suffer.

So I'm not talking about individuality here but system.

Please, hope you get my point bro

lol, merry Christmas in advance to all my fellow gunners on this thread, may this season bring forth a positive change for us and for our great club, I believe that this trying phase will pass too

now unto the topic of the day, my own opinion is that arsenal indeed prioritizes the defence over the attack but the signing of Gabriel and partey was not the main issue because those two players are top qualities players that can change the team around. The main issue was the signing of mari and soares during the January transfer window.

arsenal spent more than £20 million on mari and soares, and uptill now the both of them have not made upto 3 starts in the EPL. now imagine if we didnt bring those guys to the club, I'm sure that £20 million would have been added into that auoar deal that fell through.

modified : this is why I'm not going to join the areta out bandwagon because mari and soares are edu signings and if you add willian into the mix, you will realise that we have apent over £30 million on players that are not needed in the squad. arteta clearly wanted a CB, DM and AMF, he got the first two but couldn't get the last one because of low funds but if we didnt sign mari, soares and willian, I'm sure he would have gotten the AMF he wanted.

I think the signing of mari and soares is something that had already been done before.this season. Those guys were on loan with option of buy ; it is understandable we will consider the buy option considering the fact that Bellerin seems to be on the decline, and Mitland-Niles seem to be more useful in LWB, RWB, CM etc than RB.....Also with Luiz, Chambers in and out of the team, Mustafi out of favours ( deservedly so), Mari's move was likely to be made permanent.

I think what messed everything up was the AM deal that didn't come tru.

Let's look at what the club will do in that direction in this January transfer window sha

Absolutely far from the truth. We have or I should say, I have watched him play U23 games and the general consensus was he was very good in those games including the game he got a red card. He has looked composed, timed his tackles, positioned well and in other instances assisted for goals.

For some weird reason Arteta is choosing not to play him or even give fans the chance to evaluate the player in bigger games. We scouted this player for a long time and it is shocking that he has not gotten any playing time under Arteta and the worst is that Arteta is not even communicating with this kid.

Saliba, Guen and Torreira were signed by Ebening.. all 3 are not in the team. Is that any coincidence? I just hope it is not what I am thinking.

I am just worried about the state of our young guns.

Bro. .many were bashing the kid here then. Arteta should have harness his ruggedness in a more positive way. 3 games ban? Ok. .Sending him on exile was too extreme. BTW,his assist to Auba against the spurs is still fresh in my memory.
